This screen gives pertinent networking information for that machine, such as: local shares, domain name servers, the management IP address, the management port, open ports, and network interface adapters. This information is updated based on the schedule for the agent s automatic refresh of inventory data. Refer to the Schedule Information section of the Agent Templates documentation for more information. TIP: You can update the Network information manually at any time by right-clicking on the desired computer on the navigation tree and selecting Commands > Inventory > Resend Network Info. This document will provide detailed information about the Network tab. For more information on the other tabbed screens, please refer to those documents. To access the Network tab: 1. From the Control Center navigation tree, expand Clients > Client > Locations and then double-click the agent computer to open the Computer Management screen. 2. Click the Network tab NetworkTab 1

2 Network Figure 1: Computer Management Network Tab LAN Info The LAN Info section displays the DNS address in the upper section and lists the computers, printers and other resources connected to your local area network in the bottom section. A plus sign to the left of a computer indicates that there is a share that can be mapped. NOTE: The LAN Info section will only display if there is network information available NetworkTab 2

3 LabTech Figure 2: LAN Info Mapping Drives A plus sign to the left of a computer in the LAN Info section indicates that this computer has a share that can be mapped provided you have the proper credentials. To map a drive: 1. From the LAN Info section, expand the computer to show the share NetworkTab 3

4 Network Figure 3: Map Network Drive 2. Right-click on the share and select Map Network Drive. Figure 4: Enter Drive Letter 3. Enter a drive letter for the network drive and click OK. This will map the drive on the selected computer. Local Shares The Local Shares section on the Network tab displays the shared folders associated with this machine. NOTE: Shared folders with the $ at the end are network administrator shares. Figure 5: Local Shares NetworkTab 4

5 LabTech Creating New Local Shares The New Share Folder option allows you to create new local shares on the selected agent. The folder or drive must already exist on the agent or the Shared Directory command to create the share will error out. To share a folder or drive: 1. Right-click in the Local Shares section. 2. Select New Share Folder. Figure 6: Share Info Screen 3. Enter the desired name of the shared folder or drive followed by the equal sign = and the path of the folder or drive (e.g., Docs=C:\docs). 4. Click the OK button. This will immediately initiate a FasTalk session and send the Share Directory command. You can see the status of the command by clicking on the Commands tab. The new share will not appear in the Local Shares section until the network inventory is resent. This is based on the times set in your schedules or you can send the network inventory manually by clicking Begin > Commands > Inventory > Resend Network Info. Removing Local Shares The Unshare Folder option will remove sharing privileges from the share. However, it will not remove the share from the list of local shares until the network inventory is resent. This is based on the times set in your schedules or you can send network inventory manually by clicking Begin > Commands > Inventory > Resend Network Info. To unshare a folder or drive: 1. Right-click in the Local Shares section. 2. Select UnShare Folder. Domain Name Servers The Domain Name Servers section displays the DNS addresses that the agent machine checks into NetworkTab 5

6 Network Figure 7: Domain Name Servers Management IP and Management Port The Management IP is used in all Lights Out Management redirectors as the address to connect to (e.g., HP ilo enabled computers typically have another IP address that is used to connect for Lights Out Management). This IP address would be entered into the Management IP field. Otherwise, it uses the local IP address if it is blank. The Management Port is used for RDP redirectors as the port for Terminal Services. The RDP port is normally using port Otherwise, enter the port to use. Figure 8: Management IP and Manage Port To use the Management IP or Management Port fields: 1. Enter the desired information into the appropriate field. 2. Click the Save Management button. Open Ports The Open Ports section of the Network tab displays all open ports. This is especially useful for monitoring potential malicious activity NetworkTab 6

8 Network Table 1: Network Interface Field Descriptions Field Name Name Adapter Type MAC IP Address NetMask Gateway Manufacturer Description The name of the networking adapter. The type of networking adapter: Ethernet, bridged adapter, airport, etc. The MAC address of the network adapter. The IP address associated with the networking adapter. The subnet the adapter is associated with. The IP address of the default gateway this agent communicates with. The name of the network adapter s manufacturer.
