3 Surgical Components All Ponto implants have the same universal implant-abutment interface, and are therefore fully compatible with existing instruments and abutments. The wide countersinks for the Wide Ponto Implants are marked with a W to separate them from the countersinks for the 3.75 mm Ponto Implants. The guide drill is used with both the wide countersinks for the Wide Ponto Implants and the countersinks for the 3.75 mm Ponto Implants. All surgical components are delivered sterile. All abutments and pre-mounted implants have interface enabling implant stability measurements using resonance frequency analysis. 5 Surgical Instruments & Equipment M50362 Angled abutment 10 The angled abutment can be used to adjust the sound processor position. The angled abutment is delivered with a connection screw and enables mounting the sound processor at an angle of 10. Note: The connection screw interface does not enable implant stability measurements. M50098 Cover screw hexagon The cover screw is used in the two stage surgical procedure or when a sleeper implant is placed. It is designed to cover the whole upper side of the implant flange and thereby safely protect the implant. Disposable instruments The disposable instruments are delivered sterile. All the drill shafts are between 26 and 30 mm long to facilitate correct orientation of the drill during the drilling procedure. M50287 Guide drill, 3-4 mm M51144 Wide countersink, 3 mm The guide drill has a removable spacer to shift between 3 and 4 mm drilling depths. The guide drill is compatible with both the wide countersinks for the wide 4.5 mm implants and the countersinks for the 3.75 mm implants. The 3 mm wide countersink is used after the initial guide drilling. It is designed to prevent from countersinking more than 0.3 mm and it creates a barely visible recess. The drill is marked with a W to indicate that it must only be used with the wide implant. M51122 Wide countersink, 4 mm The 4 mm wide countersink is used after the initial guide drilling. It is designed to prevent from countersinking more than 0.3 mm and it creates a barely visible recess. The drill is marked with a W to indicate that it must only be used with the wide implant. M50674 Countersink with stop, 3 mm The 3 mm countersink is used after the initial guide drilling. It is designed to prevent from countersinking more than 0.3 mm and it creates a flat halo-like recess. The countersink must only be used with the 3.75 mm implant M50675 Countersink with stop, 4 mm The 4 mm countersink is used after the initial guide drilling. It is designed to prevent from countersinking more than 0.3 mm and it creates a flat halo-like recess. The countersink must only be used with the 3.75 mm implant M50821 Healing cap The healing cap has a diameter of 26 mm to efficiently hold down the dressing. 5

Equipment Drilling equipment It is important that the correct type of drilling equipment is used during the surgical procedure. The unit should be able to carry out the drilling with a drill bit speed of rpm and also the implant installation on a low speed setting, 15 rpm, and a torque setting between Ncm depending on the bone quality. See Surgical manual for correct settings and procedure. We recommend the Implantmed drive unit supplied by W&H ( with the contra-angle handpiece 20:1. Resonance Frequency Analysis equipment Osstell ISQ can add important information to the evaluation of implant stability and can be used as part of an overall treatment evaluation program. The system includes the use of a SmartPeg attached to the implant or abutment. The final implant treatment decisions are the responsibility of the clinician. 6 We recommend the Osstell ISQ instrument provided by Osstell (www. osstell.com). 7 Surgical Instruments & Equipment Non-disposable Instruments M51690 Counter torque wrench M50230 Torque wrench The counter torque wrench is used for counteracting the force when tightening or unscrewing the connection screw using the screwdriver. The counter torque wrench is also used for manual tightening in the single stage procedure if needed. The torque wrench, scale Ncm, is used to secure the correct torque when tightening the connection screw. It is used together with the screwdriver handle. M50437 Handle with screwdriver The screwdriver handle with replaceable bits can be used together with the torque wrench. It is delivered with one screwdriver machine bit. M50384 Screwdriver, machine, 35 mm M51695 Abutment inserter, machine M50386 Square fit connection, machine The screwdriver machine bit can be used with both the screwdriver handle and the drill equipment handpiece. The bit fits all the abutment connection screws and the implant adapter screws. The shaft fitting is according to ISO The abutment inserter is used during the single stage surgical procedure for inserting the implant with the pre-mounted abutment, using the drill equipment. The shaft has a hexagonal collar with a shaft fitting according to ISO The square fit connection is used for inserting the 3 and 4 mm implant with the pre-mounted implant adapter, using the drill equipment. The shaft fitting is according to ISO M50428 Sound processor indicator The sound processor indicator is used to mark the correct implant position on the skin. M50534 Screwdriver hexagon The screwdriver hexagon is used for connecting and disconnecting the cover screw. M50535 Ampule holder Stand to hold the sterile component ampule during surgery. M50626 Dermatome The dermatome can facilitate the initial incision and skin reduction during surgery. It creates a skin graft that is 25 mm wide; the thickness of the graft can be adjusted between mm. M50627 Dermatome blade, 25 mm, 10 pcs. The dermatome blade is a single-use blade and is delivered sterile in a package of 10 blades. 7

Different audio sources can be transmitted through the Ponto Streamer to your sound processor. The Ponto Streamer can also be used as a remote control to adjust the volume and change program in the sound processor. DEMO ConnectLine TV adapter The ConnectLine TV Adapter can be connected to a TV and transmit the TV sound to the sound processor via Ponto Streamer. Only through Ponto Streamer ConnectLine microphone The ConnectLine microphone is a discreet clip-on microphone that can connect wirelessly to the Ponto Streamer, allowing the conversation partner s voice to be heard in the sound processor. 13 Accessories Accessories M50446 Telecoil The plug-in telecoil unit is designed to improve sound quality and speech understanding within areas that have a telecoil loop installed or for users with an FM neckloop receiver. For Ponto, Ponto Pro and Ponto Pro Power sound processors only. M50377 Audio adapter The audio adapter is equipped with an isolation transformer allowing the user to connect the sound processor to external equipment such as stereos, MP3-players and television sets. For Ponto, Ponto Pro and Ponto Pro Power sound processors only. FM receiver The multi-channel FM receiver, Oticon Amigo R2BA, allows the user to benefit from the advanced solutions offered by the Amigo receiver and transmitters. Phonak also distributes an FM solution that can be used. For Ponto, Ponto Pro and Ponto Pro Power sound processors only.* M50029 Safety line The safety line may be attached to the sound processor and the patient s clothing to reduce risk of loss or damage after first fitting or during physical activity. The unilateral soft band can be adjusted in length from 30 cm to 50 cm. The soft band has a built-in safety feature which is designed to release the soft band if necessary. 14

M51818 Ponto Plus Color sample kit The kit contains four color samples of Ponto Plus and Ponto Plus Power. Designed to facilitate demonstration of the different color options available. M50006 Xpress The Xpress unit may facilitate the connection and disconnection of the sound processor. M50302 Test rod The test rod is used for listening, testing and demonstrating the sound processor without connecting it to an abutment. Simply connect the sound processor to the test rod and press it against the head. M50308 Head band The head band can be used during pre-operative patient evaluation and also by patients who are unsuitable for implantation but who can gain from using the Ponto sound processors as a traditional bone conductor. M50104 Test band The test band is used for short term pre-operative patient evaluation and testing of the Ponto sound processors. M50462 Test stand The test stand has a removable test rod that can be used to demonstrate and practice connection and disconnection of the Ponto sound processors. 15

The software can be used stand-alone or with NOAH. Oticon #3, HI-PRO #3 or NOAHlink #2 programming cable is used to program all sound processors. Skull Simulator Skull Simulator (SKS10) Interacoustics have developed a special skull simulator coupler for the Affinity.
