10 Options CBMS studies done as a major in a BSc Double Major or major and minor A common choice is a double major in Chemistry and in Biomolecular Sciences also in Biology, Maths, Physics, Anthropology Major units as part of Bachelor of Medical sciences UG Scholarships and Prizes CBMS scholarship Available to students enrolling in a bachelor degree with a major in either Biomolecular Sciences or Chemistry. $1000/yr, available for up to 3 years Le Fevre Scholarship in Chemistry Available to full time students undertaking a bachelor degree with a major in Chemistry. Tenable for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rates: $2000 in the first year, $2100 in the second year and $2200 in the third year of the scholarship. Both above scholarships awarded on the basis of academic merit in the HSC, and continuing years subject to high academic grades Merit Scholarships

Many thought it was an odd combination but I really enjoyed the mix of both and particularly loved medicinal chemistry and science communications classes. Since graduating I've found a job that combines both aspects of my degree. I work as a research coordinator for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, a non for profit organisation focused on funding brain cancer research. I communicate with researchers, manage our grants process and write about research and science for our website and our supporters. My chemistry degree helps me every day in my work and also with my love for cooking.

13 Graduate profile Joshua Tompsett Production Technician at Sigma Aldrich Pty Ltd I completed a BSC in Chemistry. This covered units such as Physical and Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Analysis, Organic and Biological Chemistry, and Medicinal Chemistry. I also completed units in Biomolecular Sciences such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. My favourite units were Physical and Environmental Chemistry, and Chemical Analysis. Both of these units provided a fantastic laboratory experience which was what I enjoyed the most during my degree. My primary role is to synthesise, purify and perform quality control on oligonucleotides or DNA primers. The entire process allows me to practice a number of useful analytical and chemical techniques that I learnt at MQ. Graduate profile Zoe Fairjones I have a BSc (Honours) degree in Biomolecular Sciences which provided me with skills in microbiology, molecularbiology andprotein expression and protein analysis. I especially enjoyed microbiology (with a biotechnology flavour) on which I did my Honours research project. Research Assistant at Teva Pharmaceuticals I have worked as Research Assistant at the University of New South wales and Technical Assistant at University of Technology. In my current work concentrating on developing antibodies I have greatly benefited from the portfolio of technical skills I developed in my studies and subsequent work in various research projects.
