2 Dear Patients, The Department of Lower Limb, Joint Replacement, Foot and Spine Surgery offers a highly specialized treatment service that is delivered by a skilled and experienced team of specialist physicians, therapists and nursing staff. We always strive to find a solution that is right for you. Our efforts, therefore, are not limited to providing you with specialist care and surgical treatment but extend to treating all of our patients with a high level of respect and personal attention. Our close working relationship with the Rheumatology, Osteology and Naturopathy Departments ensures that our comprehensive interdisciplinary and holistic approach to the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders that is unique in Germany. With a team of highly specialized staff behind us we can ensure that all of our patients are treated by an experienced expert. Dr. med. Peter Naatz (Head of Department)
3 Our approach We treat the full spectrum of diseases and injuries affecting the hips, knees and ankles, as well as those affecting the forefoot and rearfoot. Our Department also specializes in spine surgery. The Department of Lower Limb, Joint Replacement, Foot and Spine Surgery has extensive clinical experience in the prevention of musculoskeletal diseases and in delivering treatments to ensure that patients have their mobility maintained or restored and are able to live a pain-free life. In addition to our clinical expertise, we offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment as well as comprehensive follow-up treatment that are delivered by experienced hand therapy specialists and physiotherapists. The quality of postoperative care is a deciding factor in the success of surgery involving the lower extremities and the spine. Treatment planning meetings are held daily, with all follow-up treatment planned in accordance with the specific needs of the patient and in close cooperation with our experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists. If required, patients can be fitted with plaster casts, braces or orthotic devices. All of our support devices are custom-made by our occupational therapy section. We use the latest surgical techniques in order to alleviate pain, and to ensure joint function is maintained or restored. Your well-being is central to everything we do. The decision as to the best possible treatment options for your case will be guided by the latest scientific evidence, many years of experience and your personal needs. Other factors that help to produce successful treatment outcomes include comprehensive follow-up care, modern wound management and high quality nursing care.

Our main areas of specialization include: Minimally invasive Hip and knee joint replacement surgery Revision hip/knee replacement surgery Orthopedic interventions for the full spectrum of rheumatic diseases affecting the lower limbs and spine Ankle joint replacements All types of foot deformities including complex rearfoot malalignments Arthroscopic surgery for all types of sports injuries and degenerative changes Minimally invasive spine surgery Hip replacement procedures are performed using a minimally invasive (anterolateral) approach. With regard to minimally-invasive hip replacement surgery, we are one of the leading centers in Berlin. In addition to the above, our Department offers the full spectrum of both conventional and modern orthopedic surgery procedures. The Department of Orthopedics has 3 operating rooms, a modern recovery room and an IMC Unit for patients who require close monitoring following surgery.
