El Dorado Street Stockton CA Suzy Daveluy Attention: Adult Literacy The Adult Literacy Program provides one-on-one reading tutoring for adults ages 16 and older. This free, confidential service provides reading instruction for English-speaking adults. The schedule is flexible, but there is a three-hour per week time commitment for six months. Volunteer literacy tutors are 18 years old and older. Tutors are trained and supervised by library staff. Tutors also have a three-hour per week, six-month commitment. The primary source of training materials comes from Laubach Literacy Action, an international adult literacy program. Other materials are used as needed. There is no charge for services, and the program is available at all San Joaquin County branch libraries. 16 and older Attention: Adult Literacy Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library Preschool Storytimes 605 N. El Dorado Street Suzy Daveluy Attention: Programming Branches of the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library offer storytimes for children 0-5. Storytimes include sharing of age-appropriate picture books, fingerplays, songs, exercise, and craft activities. Storytimes last approximately 30 minutes. Each Training Wheels visit includes a storytime for children and their parents, day-care providers, and teachers. Training Wheels staff demonstrate ways adults can encourage the development of early literacy skills with their young children.
