2 Statements & Search Criteria Mission Religious/Charitable/Educational CCTC is an inter-denominational, non-profit ministry dedicated to bringing honor and glory to God by serving the Body of Christ and assisting local churches. CCTC uses Biblical principles to teach, train and counsel. CCTC encourages people to use Scripture to resolve personal and inter-personal problems and to be available to help others to apply these truths in their lives. Background The Christian Counseling & Training Center is a Christian ministry established in 1981 to train Biblical counselors and teachers to assist their local churches. We offer training in counseling skills and classes in basic Christian discipleship and ministry. Our purpose is to bridge the gap between faith and life. We study the character of God, His Holiness, His Grace, and His Purpose for life. As we examine our intimate relationships, we look at our emotions within the context of the Biblical concept of love. We evaluate actions and motives and explore how change takes place. Impact Accomplishments: Continued to expand our services in Fredericksburg through teaching and counseling. Began using a new interactive approach to teaching our basic class, including newly developed leaders and participants manuals. Began working on a cooperative project with the City of Richmond Health Department, focusing on problems faced by teens. Taught our Biblical Problem Solving class to a group from the Richmond City Health Department. Goals: Develop more interactive leaders and participants manuals for our remaining classes. Present a seminar in the fall on Compassionate Caregiving. Make our training classes available online. Begin to reach a younger population with our seminars and training. Present a workshop on Grief to a group from the Richmond City Health Department. Needs Our needs continue to be in the area of finances in this challenging economic environment. We could use volunteers in our administrative office. We would like to update our office equipment, primarily our computer systems. CEO/Executive Director Statement Our uniqueness results from the use of God's Word to heal, restore, and transform lives. We use God's word through our counseling and our teaching. 4 Programs Programs Discipleship and Biblical Training Description This program is designed to point students in the direction of a caring God who always shows us more grace and mercy than we deserve. Through this program, the student will gain a clearer biblical world view and a better understanding of his/her relationship and place in God s Kingdom as well as a better understanding of why we do what we don t wish to do. Students will learn the dynamics of problems and biblical responses to those issues. Budget $75, After successfully completing the Discipleship Training Program, a student may enroll in this two year program which expands student knowledge by providing a practical hands on experience. This two year program is designed for those who seek a deeper relationship with the Lord, and will require in depth study of the Scriptures to gain deeper knowledge and wisdom as to the hearts of men. Students will learn how to help others bridge the gap between faith and life by giving them hope and encouragement. Long term Success Short Term Success Growth in faith and in ministry to others Understanding of the process of renewal; deeper knowledge and wisdom as to the hearts of men; greater awareness that the glory of God is the primary purpose of man, greater degree of submission to God's Kingdom by demonstrating the love of God in the context of personal relationships; greater ability to help others bridge the gap between faith and life by giving them hope and encouragement. Counseling Description The Christian Counseling & Training Center (CCTC) is a non-profit ministry designed to serve people who have problems they cannot handle alone. The range of problems with which we deal is very wide. It includes broken and dysfunctional marriages, parent-child relationships, depression, alcohol and drug abuse, and any number of other problems that result in personal and interpersonal turmoil and distress. Budget $20, The counselors at CCTC have been intensively trained in the principles and practices of Biblical Counseling. They are not trained psychotherapists or licensed professional counselors, nor do they practice psychological therapy. Long term Success Short Term Success 65% of those we counsel are better equipped in their faith and in their relationships At the end of counseling, folks are better able to cope with the issues of life and relationships are healed. 4
5 Addiction Support Groups Description The Christian Counseling and Training Center now offers support groups for those individuals who are struggling with addictions. There will be groups for both men and women. The Center will be using a new program developed by Dr. Ed Welch from his best selling book, "Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave." Budget $15, This is a tremendous opportunity to grow in fellowship with the Lord and to allow His holy Word to touch your heart. Whether your addiction is alcohol, pornography, gambling, drugs, food, etc.this is an opportunity to find new freedom in Christ and a spiritual answer to your problem. If you have tried everything and you feel ashamed and guilty, give CCTC an opportunity to show you the way up and out. Long term Success Short Term Success Participants will be able to overcome their addictive behavior and have a stronger walk with the Lord. At the end of the program, participants will be able to recognize the patterns of addiction, to choose wisdom over foolish desires, and to cling to the hope they have in Jesus, who sets captives free. Biblical Life Coaching Training Description The Christian Counseling and Training Center, in partnership with Lifeforming Leadership Coaching, now offers a training program in Biblical Life Coaching. Classes will be 8 weeks in length, and will meet for two hours one night a week. Each person enrolled in #401 will be required to have a life coach in addition to each of the Lifeforming courses. Budget $15, We are excited about this addition to CCTC, but want all of our partners to know that our goal and mission remain the same. We see this additional program as enhancing and increasing our counseling and training opportunities. Upon completion of the six courses, the student will receive national certification as a Biblical Life Coach. This training is for pastors, counselors, small group leaders, and lay people who are interested in discipleship. Long term Success Short Term Success Participants will be qualified to enter into Biblical Life Coaching relationships that will help others discover their God given talents, exposing negative agreements and patterns with the result being a transformed mind, body and spirit. Participants will successfully complete 6 classes and receive national certification as a Biblical Life Coach. 5
