In this role I oversee all aspects of MarkeDng CommunicaDon, report directly to the CEO and I am custodian for five sub brands under the Windsor umbrella. Sophia Formosa graduate 2008 BComm (PR) allowed me to develop the wridng and strategy skills that are essendal to my job. Most importantly, the combinadon of theory and pracdcal experience means that I am confident tackling unfamiliar problems and work construcdvely as part of my team of colleagues. 2 I am currently working with the System Policy Division, Department of Educa=on and Early Childhood Development as part of the VPS Graduate program. The well rounded skill set developed during the B Comm (PR) program at RMIT is invaluable in government roles that integrate communica=ons and public policy development. 3 Tess Reddy graduate 2008 The degree gave me a pracdcal and theoredcal understanding of how communicadons works. As a communicadon strategist I now apply what I have learned to real situadons. I have worked on three highly successful Vegemite campaigns including, How Do You Like Your Vegemite, One Billionth Jar and 'Name Me.' 4 Luella Charles graduate 2006 My Bachelor of CommunicaDons (Public RelaDons) has paved the way to my career in government public reladons. Since graduadon, I have worked as a PR and CommunicaDons Officer for an educadonal insdtute and as CommunicaDons Adviser for a government agency. I am now in a senior advisory role in government, thanks in part to the skills and experdse gained during my studies at RMIT. 5 Mabhew Walker graduate 2008 I am currently compledng my honours year at The University of Melbourne in media and communicadons. Our lecturers and tutors all had years of knowledge and experience that they passed down to us, and we had a great range of guest speakers from industry. 6 The Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) course gave me the opportunity to intellectually develop and challenge myself, initiating a passion for academia and research based learning. It gave me the confidence and desire to continue my studies, resulting in my current position as a Master's student of Communications and Media Studies. Additionally, the course helped me develop personal confidence in intellectual surroundings and encouraged my passion for learning and expression through communication devices. I am currently working in a dynamic MarkeDng and CommunicaDons role within the water industry, the same place where I started my internship only two years ago. 8 The Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) not only gave me insight into the theoretical underpinnings of communication, but more importantly, it equipped me with the practical skills needed to be a well-rounded public relations practitioner. It enhanced my view of the world and broadened my general knowledge base, which is vital for successful communication. It gave me a deeper understanding as to the way the media works and how best to foster pr and media relations. I am currently a full-time student of a Master in International Relations at The University of Melbourne. My purpose in doing so is to pursue a career in political and international communication. My RMIT PR degree was beneficial in my career in many ways. The high quality of lecturers and their advice ensured that my peers and I had the confidence and skills required to undertake most tasks required of us while working in the industry. 10 Erin Kan graduate 2006 The Bachelor of CommunicaDons (Public RelaDons) provided me with the academic and pracdcal experience in Strategic CommunicaDons required to work in a large corporate organisadon. I now work at ANZ in an Internal CommunicaDons role. Some of my main responsibilides are: Producing the internal staff magazine, distributed to over 40,000 employees; organising CEO staff engagement opportunides; and also providing communicadons advice for group inidadves, projects and announcements. It was something I had aspired to and wanted to achieve part Dme. 12 Michael Lagastes graduate 2008 I d always loved wridng and had a keen interest in polidcs and current affairs, so PR was the perfect degree for me. It balanced theoredcal subjects with live client projects and gave me a good idea of what to expect afer graduadon. 14 In my first rotation I have been placed in the ministerial support unit and my work involves writing a range of documents including briefings and speeches for the Prime Minister. My degree at RMIT has helped prepare me for this. My role is part policy and part communications. We provide advice and information to the department and minister and we develop public education and awareness campaigns for the community. I deal with a diverse range of stakeholders from government, industry and the community. I feel more confident with the skills I ve gained in my PR degree. For one of our projects I am liaising with PR and Advertising consultancies on a communication program.
