1 INTERNATIONAL PREPARATORY MEETING TOWARDS COP16 ON ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE: SCIENTIFIC PERSPECTIVE Setting the scene for actions September 29 and 30 ORGANIZERS National Institute of Ecology National Water Commission Mexican Academy of Sciences Avenue: International Conference Center Headquarters, located at 50 Porfirio Diaz, San Jeronimo, Mexico City. OBJECTIVES The objectives of the meeting are to establish a dialogue to: 1. Identify adaptation actions by sectors and regions in the short and long term; 2. Discuss possible international cooperation activities between developed and developing countries; 3. Identify international financial needs to implement projects as well as integrate a document that provides scientific and technology elements to support the discussion of the adaptation framework in the context of COP16. DYNAMICS Each speaker will be covering a subject in 20 minutes followed of minutes discussion and question. At the end of each day, a task force group will be presenting the conclusions and agreements reached In this meeting, we expect to benefit from the participation of academic researchers and experts on climate change adaptation at national and international levels. 1
