Semester Credits: 60 hours (including 15 semester credits of General Studies) Program Duration: 120 weeks Cost Per Credit Hour: $275 Total Tuition: $16,500 Course Materials and Fees: $125 Total Course Materials & Fees: $2,500** Total Cost of MBA Program: $19,000 (including course materials and fees) Program Description The Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice prepares individuals to face the ever changing and global challenges of all components of the Criminal Justice System. The core courses in the program are designed to provide the student with the knowledge of and the skills to deal with global issues such as terrorism, organized crime, family and social violence, cybercrime and network security, community based corrections, ethics, and research methods. The general education components of the program augment these abilities from the obvious courses in technical writing, business psychology, and safety and health in the workplace, to the indirect influences of political and environmental science. Program Outcomes Upon completion of this program, the graduate should be able to: Identify current and global issues in the Criminal Justice System. Determine the sources of impending and future strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the criminal justice system. Prepare technical reports with clear and concise methods. Apply best practices and innovative ideas to formulate solutions and apply their knowledge to assist diverse groups of people in society s worldwide. Understand, investigate, and combat internet cybercrime. Evaluate the potential external, political, social, legal, and financial challenges facing the global criminal justice system. Apply knowledge of law and ethics in their everyday work within the criminal justice system. Provide a safe and healthy work environment. Potential Employment Upon successfully completing this program the graduate may qualify for gainful employment in a judicial environment, international, national, state, and local law enforcement agencies, correction facilities that fall under all jurisdictions in the United States and also as an advocate for crime victims and other individuals who find themselves facing challenges in the Criminal Justice System. * ACOT s program courses are designed in sequential order. Therefore, the student must complete the given course before progressing to the next course in the sequence. 49
2 Graduation Requirements In order for students to successfully complete their program, all required materials must be completed, submitted, and within the maximum program duration. Students who fail to complete the program at this level may appeal to the Director of Education for an extension. Students must also complete the proctored Degree Exit Examination for this program to graduate. Students can complete a course with a grade of D or 1.0, however, in order to meet SAP requirements and be able to graduate, the student has to have an overall average of C or (2.0 out of 4.0) for all courses and be able to complete all work required within 150% of the program duration or an additional year of the published length whichever is less. Admissions Requirements: Associate degree of Criminal Justice from American College of Technology or an Associate degree in similar field from any other appropriately accredited college or university. Students who have an Associate degree in non- related field will have to take additional courses. * This course has a proctored final exam.
