1 Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies Applications to the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) require a detailed description of the proposed program of study. The template below is intended to be a guide to the program structure. 2 a) Proposed course schedule and timing (including residencies) Courses selected should clearly build towards the attainment of the degree objective. Applicants are not expected to work through the scheduling of the courses and residencies. Once the applicant has submitted a list of desired courses (and residency), the Program Associate will prepare a draft schedule that will include dates of courses and work with applicant to address any timing issues. Students may complete one blended studies residency combined with online courses OR select to complete the program totally online. Students select a combination of 30 credit hours from a pre-screened selection of courses. Students may complete one residency combined with online courses OR select to complete the program totally online. Total Credits 36 credits Students who have completed a forcredit graduate certificate prior to MAIS admission may ladder up to 12 credit hours of their certificate(s) into MAIS. Students then complete the two required MAIS courses. Students pursuing the major project or thesis option complete 6 credit hours of additional coursework; students pursuing the course-based option complete 18 credit hours of additional coursework. 3 Program Design Step 1: Pick a Course Delivery Online-Based All courses are taken online. If you select this option, skip the Residencies course section and go to the Pre-Screened Online Courses section. Blended Can select online and blended courses. Can select one residency as part of a schedule. Residencies include a 2-3 week on-campus intensive. Residencies are listed below in the courses section. Step 2: Design a Program Course Based Major Project Thesis Select courses to make up 30 credit hours (10 courses). Include a Major Project ( 12 credit hours) and pick 18 additional credit hours (6 courses). Include a Thesis ( 12 credit hours) and pick 18 additional credit hours (6 courses).
