4 PREFACE This bulletin, The Natural Surroundings At Our Schools is one of the final products of the project activities realized in the Comenius school project with the title: The Local Ecology in the Whole of Europe. The bulletin has been produced on the basis of collaboration of four primary schools from four countries: Poland, Turkey, Hungary and Slovakia. The plants and trees inside have been gathered by pupils f rom the above mentioned countries. They are divided into two units: plants and trees. There are 37 species all together written in English as a common international communication language of all the countries - Latin, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian and Turkis h four national languages. Each country gathered some typical species situated inside and outside their schools and in their local surroundings. They are written in English, Latin and the mother tongue of that country. We can say that one of our aims is to introduce typical species of plants, trees and bushes to our pupils, teachers, parents and the public in a very simple way. Inside the bulletin we can learn about each other, our nature, our differences and similarities. We hope that our bulletin will h elp us to get to know each other, to connect, to understand Europian nations, their nature and culture. 2
