1 Human Resources Online Tuition Waiver Training The purpose of the following training is to help UVU faculty and staff access and submit tuition waivers for themselves and qualifying dependents. The training materials include step-by-step screen shots with information bubbles on how to: Be aware of exceptions to the online tuition waiver and how it could affect them Access the online tuition waiver through UVLink Submit tuition waivers for employees and eligible dependents View online tuition waivers previously submitted Locate information concerning waiver processing timelines and accessing tuition and fee balances owed Visit HR on the web at
2 2 Online Tuition Waiver Exceptions: The online tuition waiver has been designed to accommodate the majority of employee and dependent tuition waivers processed each semester. However, below is a list of exceptions where a paper tuition waiver will need to be completed and submitted to the Human Resources Department instead of going through the online tuition waiver. Exceptions Include: Retirees and their qualifying dependents Early Retirees and their qualifying dependents ROTC employees and their qualifying dependents Qualifying dependents of deceased employees Disabled employees and their qualifying dependents Dependent of Deceased Employee If you fall into one of the exceptions listed above, you will need to register for classes, and fill out a Online Tuition Waiver Exception From found online at: or you can come into the Benefits Office and fill out a form. Once you have registered and completed the Online Tuition Waiver Exception Form you will need to turn it into the Human Resources front desk BA110.
3 3 Online Tuition Waiver Process: Full-Time Employees/Dependents: All full-time employees intending to use a tuition waiver for themselves and/or qualifying dependents, in any given semester, should submit a tuition waiver using the online tuition waiver through UVLink. The waiver cannot be submitted online until the employee and/or dependent (the student) has completed course registration. Qualifying dependents of full-time employees do not have access to submit tuition waivers, so it must be completed by the full-time employee. Adjunct/Part-Time Employees: All adjunct and hourly employees intending to use a tuition waiver in any given semester should submit a tuition waiver using the online tuition waiver through UVLink. The waiver cannot be submitted online until the employee has completed course registration. If you have questions concerning your eligibility for a tuition waiver, you should first complete course registration and then try accessing the tuition waiver through UVLink to see if you have a waiver available. If you are not able to access the tuition waiver and still feel you are eligible for a tuition waiver, please contact the Human Resources Department at ext All adjunct and hourly employees intending to bank a tuition waiver in any given semester to the next will not need to submit a tuition waiver banking the credits. The online tuition waiver will track the credit hours used each semester and bank remaining credits to the semester immediately following (i.e. Fall to Spring, Spring to Summer, and Summer to Fall) Credits from a previous semester will expire if not used in the current semester.
4 The following pages will show you how to navigate UVLink and the Online Tuition Waiver in order to submit a tuition waiver. 4
5 Login to UVLink using your UVID and Password. 5

9 9 Jane Doe Jane Doe Administrative Support IV 1111 To add a tuition waiver, click the Add Waiver button. Fall tuition waivers can not be submitted until July 1. After July 1, an Add Waiver button will appear.
10 10 The Submit Waiver button will only appear if course registration is complete. Click Submit Waiver to apply the tuition waiver. Jane Doe Jane Doe Bob Doe Click Go Back Without Submitting To return to the previous screen without submitting a waiver.
11 11 Jane Doe Bob Doe Shows the tuition waiver has been submitted for processing, the credits waived, and the total amount waived. Once the waiver has been submitted, the waiver will need 24 hours to process. After the 24 hour processing period the remaining balance can be checked through UVLink. Jane Doe Click OK to continue to the next screen.
12 12 Jane Doe Jane Doe John Doe Administrative Support IV 0000 If an additional waiver needs to be submitted, after a waiver has already been submitted for the semester, click on Additional Waiver An individual waiver will need to be submitted for each individual (employee or dependent) receiving a waiver for the semester. To view waivers that have been submitted for the current or previous semester, click on 2010SPRING(201020) or other semester of interest. A list will appear of waivers submitted for the semester showing those who have a waiver record, along with the credit hours and amount waived.
