Being young and naïve I thought I knew all there was to learn about computers and instead studied neuroscience at university, where I majored in developmental neuroscience and artificial intelligence ( think prologic / mass parallel programming ). After dropping out of medicine because I had too much empathy for sick people, I worked more on the company that I had founded while at university. This honed my dot com skills and landed me several freelance jobs, I was head hunted by Imagination where I happily worked for over a year. I burnt out while working 90hr weeks for two months. This failure taught me the importance of pushing back and having achievable milestones

Both were large commerce systems with several dynamically driven content sections. For one project I worked on, Penny the Pirate, branded under OPSM, has now won over 19 awards. Both sites use responsive design, SASS, CI and a custom js framework. One interesting part of this job was the small local team, and the large offshort Indian team, used to take our prototype and ramp them into the large CMS driven commerce sites. This meant daily conferences with our offshore team in india and using management systems as Jira to allow for a flowed trafficking of work. 3 Comvita honey Frontend HTML5, CSS3, Javascript/Jquery Reference: Travis Gallien Fairfax Media Oct 2013 Jan 2013 Realestate.com.au I had a short 3 month contract at Fairfax where I worked solely on the rewrite of realestate.com.au, the commercial realestate section of the the Fairfax brand. My job was to work on an AngularJS front end application that sorted and processed data driven from.net restful api. I worked closely with designers to implement a new HTML5 sematic dependency driven ui. The team consited of 10 people and was managed in an angilely with daily standups, jira ticketing and weekly roundups. Realesate.com.au Frontend HTML5, CSS3, AngularJS, Backend -.Net WEB API ROKT Dec 2012 Jun 2013 Widget platform Lead Front-end Developer Implemented designs into HTML5 for a post transactional endorsement system. The system was leverages JavaScript to allow third party partners such as Ebay, Fairfax, or Ninemsn. The platform would present an interactive newsletter sign-up modules, surveys and coupons for a lead generation. I lead the front-end developmental, rewrote the old code base to be cleaner, lighter and standard compliant in HTML5, SASS, OO JS and twitter bootstrap. I also added Jasmine unit test for the vast business coded in the javascript frontend. The single codebass also worked on both mobile/tablet and desktop systems utilising a responsive built and mixins/pollyfills to bring HTML5 features to non complement browsers such as old touch devices and Internet explorer. Reference: Seth BELL SBS Broadcaster (SYDNEY) Aug 2012 Nov 2012 sbs.com.au/food Senior Front-end Developer Worked on the rewrite of SBS flag ship product SBS Food, which later has been adapted across the rest of SBS vertices. The site was created to be responsive designed utilised 3 media queries; mobile, tablet and wide screen. Other technologies used include Jasmin, Git, Ruby build script.

4 NEWSLIFE MEDIA (SYDNEY) May 2012 Aug 2012 Vogue.com.au / Taste.com.au Lead Front-end Developer Lead the rewrote of Vogue's website and taste magazine s online presence. The team consisted of 4 in house front-end developers and an offshore team in Shanghai. We completely rewrote the HTML markup, JavaScript and CSS (into SASS). The team had to comply with web standard and had to work on IE6+ and tablet/mobile phone. IMAGINATION AUSTRALIA (SYDNEY) 2012 Lead Creative Developer Dec 2010 Apr After riding my pushbike from Melbourne I landed a job at Imagination. The role includes working as lead development (frontend and backend) on social media promotions, intranet Sharepoint deployment and EDMs. Our flagship project Community seeds has been awarded a Facebook studio award. On this project I stepped in and completed the front-end development and rewrote the social media mechanics. The previous developer wrote the content management system. Webservices As the only full time developer at Imagination I had the privilege of working across several areas including the creative/conception development, client-side meetings, R&D, costing and both back and front-end development. As apart of the International Saturday In design festival we created an elegant mechanic where users would interface with the physical installations, use QRCodes and Facebook to enter the competition. To restrict entries to the insulation sites the site used geo-location check-in to distinguish the three different locations around Sydney. The site was designed for touch mobile devices (ipad, iphone and Android.) InterfaceFlor - Rebirth Touch, Frontend HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript / Sencha JSON, FB API

5 Backend PHP5, MySQL, FB API, PHPUnit, CI Lead and managed a team of four freelance web developers on a social media campaign, called We Love Cricket. I wrote the backend in Kohana (PHP5) and MySQL. The backend used SOAP to retrieve live scores, calculated the closest boundary winner and automatically notified the winner. I also managed the cloud based redundant hosting, implemented CI and server deployment. On the frontend I prototyped the game and structured the three custom JavaScript namespaces, debugged issues in user flow and the social media interactions. The other team members worked on cut ups, the admin user interface and the mobile interface. This site had received over 23,000 visits in the first week and was completed in less then 3 weeks after design sign off. commbank We love Cricket Frontend HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript / jquery, jquery for Mobile, JSON, FB API Backend Kohana (PHP5.3), SOAP, PHPUnit, CI, FB API I also developed several other campaign pages for Commonwealth bank s Facebook page. My role included implementing the backend, frontend, pixel perfection, cost and liaise directly the clients in house technical teams. Several of these sites had 20,000 distinct entries within the week they ran on using Facebook API/SDK. I left Imagination due to working 90 hour weeks for Plot the Shot and needed a holiday. While working at Au-Gusto I also designed and developer a website for resident artisan jeweller there. I also developed an in-house photography studio for categorising and archiving all works produced. Finally, I designed and produced a line of pure gold and silver jewellery that is currently sold in several stores across Melbourne. INTERACTIVE (MELBOURNE) Jan Dec 2009 Junior Web Developer While studying for my honours I had a part time position as a junior at Interactive. My roles included adding content, basic HTML/CSS changes to the companies website and helped with marketing campaigns.
