7 Spring 2010-December 2011 KinderTraining Research Assistant, Trained Pre-School teachers in play therapy techniques to utilize with students with behavioral disturbances within the classroom. Supervised teachers use of play therapy with students during weekly sessions. Results indicated increase of teacher empathy and decrease of student behavioral outbursts within the classroom. Utilized qualitative techniques to analyze supervisory journals to assess levels of empathy, play therapy skills, and behavioral disturbances. Coordinated with other research assistants and Dr. Natalya Edwards Lindo in development of a manuscript. Results awaiting publication. Spring 2008-August 2009 Graduate Research Assistant, Southern Methodist University Researched under Dr. Hector Rivera, developmental psychologist and director of the Center for Child and Community Development at Southern Methodist University. Collaborated on research pertaining to a U.S. Department of Education (OELA) funded program. Research focused on addressing the social, psychological, and academic needs of English Language Learners in the classrooms. Duties included formulating and distributing surveys, inputting and analyzing data Fall 2003 Independent Research, University of Richmond Conducted research with Dr. Laura Plybon, a psychology professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. Duties included formulating, distributing, collecting, and analyzing surveys regarding college students attitudes towards sexual relations. Interviewed preadolescent girls in Richmond public schools about their views and opinions on tobacco use, alcohol and drug use, sex and academics under the Tobacco Grant. Research findings published in Journal of Drug Education VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES Young Alumni Chair, University of Richmond, Dallas Chapter Invited by the University of Richmond to create and facilitate a Dallas Young Alumni Chapter to increase awareness among employers and High School Students of the University of Richmond and the excellent education granted at the institution.
