2 What to expect from Lewisham Homes Over the phone press Online In writing FREEPOST Lewisham Homes (no stamp needed) estates@lewishamhomes.org.uk We want you to live in safe and clean surroundings. We cannot improve the environment on our own we rely on your cooperation. Work with us and use the Council s environmental services to make Lewisham a cleaner, greener place to live. Everyday our caretakers will: Sweep and wash lifts and lobby areas, spot mop other areas and remove bulk items for collection. Carry out health and safety checks for spillages and hazards in lobbies, lifts and stairways. Check rubbish chutes and clear any blockages. Remove bulky items from communal (shared) areas and play areas. Replace broken light bulbs and tubes in some communal areas. Report repairs needed in communal areas. How you can help Dispose of rubbish in bins and chutes provided. Do not force large items of rubbish or furniture down chutes, this causes blockages. Keep the area surrounding your property clean and tidy. Do not store items in communal areas. Every week our caretakers will: Sweep communal areas, stairways, landings, and corridors. Dust ledges and railings. When needed our caretakers will: Wash light shades, walls and banisters. Jet wash bin chambers and enclosures. Remove litter from pathways. Window Cleaning We run a communal window cleaning service on some blocks. Estate inspections Contact Estate Services if you would like to arrange an inspection or walkabout. Estate parking Some estates have their own permit parking schemes managed by Lewisham Homes hold for Customer Services. If you live in a street property within a controlled parking zone (CPZ) see page 6. Garages Garages are available to rent. Contact our Garage team press 2. Large or bulky rubbish collection This is available for some estates and the cost is included in the service charge for residents receiving the service. Pest Control We carry out an annual pest control programme to blocks that have on-going and historical issues with pests. For pest control to a single or small number of homes affected, please contact Lewisham Council Environmental Services (see page 5). An estate parking scheme Do not smoke in communal areas. 4 Lewisham Council Lewisham Council Environmental Services: External sweeping The Council is responsible for sweeping the pathways, parking bays and estate roads on the majority of our housing estates. Abandoned vehicles The Council will investigate vehicles that have been reported as abandoned and, where appropriate, arrange for the vehicle to be removed. Download the Council s app to report environmental nuisances such as abandoned vehicles, graffiti, pot holes or fly tipping. Street parking Residents living within controlled parking zones (CPZ) can purchase a resident parking permit providing they have a vehicle registered at the address within the CPZ. For more information visit lewisham/home or call Graffiti The graffiti team will remove all external graffiti within four days of it being reported and within 24 hours if it is offensive. Pest control The Council provides a pest control service for residents living in street properties and blocks (where only a few or individual homes are affected). Report graffiti through Street lighting The Council is responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of streetlights, illuminated street signs and bollards. Recycling The Council provides large green mixed recycling bins to blocks of flats and wheelie bins for street properties. Please see its website for recycling advice.
