3 3 It s all about well-being It s back to school after the summer holidays and you re bursting with anticipation and nervousness. You re looking forward to seeing the well-known faces of your classmates and teachers. But are you looking forward to seeing the same old classroom, unchanged year after year? Teachers and other staff are probably slightly less excited to be back, but they also need change and comfortable surroundings. The educational environment should be varied and easy to alter to stimulate and arouse curiosity; to adapt to the subject, teaching style and needs of individual students; to be a good workplace. Our approach takes all of that into consideration. On the surface, it might look like it is all to do with the physical aspect of the educational environment. But what we are actually offering are complete solutions, where the interplay between function, colours and shapes contributes to the emotional experience. Moreover, as schools compete for both teachers and pupils, the interior design has become an important factor in a school s image. Working together, we can create tomorrow s educational environment a congenial environment that inspires and motivates both teaching staff and students.
4 4 Focus on comfort Furniture that can cope with harsh treatment year after year. Furniture that can be adapted to suit students regardless of their height. Chairs that can be adjusted in height and don t scrape along the floor. Products with sound-absorbing properties, maybe with castors so they are easy to rearrange. Soft seats in the corridor, and more practical furniture in the dining hall. Furniture with inherent quality, design and function. Furniture with the focus on comfort. With our knowledge and products we can offer furnishings adapted to your needs. Our standard range forms the core, but we re flexible. We can design and manufacture customised furniture for unique projects or we can adapt the design, colour or materials of furniture we already have. We collaborate with partners ensuring we can offer a complete solution.

6 6 CLASSROOM EFG Classroom consists of chairs, tables and desks in various heights, sizes and shapes. The range also includes storage, with plinths or castors.
7 CLASSROOM 7 Designs for a tough climate Creating a good classroom environment means taking a number of factors into consideration, such as sound and light, colours and shapes, comfort and flexibility. The EFG Classroom range is specially developed for schools. It features gentle shapes and it s flexible to make it easier for you to rearrange. The whole idea is to create a pleasant environment in tough everyday life. Lighting is a key factor in interior design, affecting both ergonomics and how you perceive the room. It has also been proved that good lighting results in alert students who perform better (Lund University, City University London).
8 8 CLASSROOM Variation with simple means Buildings, rooms, subjects, the number and size of students Some things are hard if not impossible to influence. But with a little imagination you can still do a lot with relatively basic means. By simply varying the colours and furnishings, each room can acquire its own character. And that s really valuable when each new lesson means a new classroom. Colour schemes are important. Research indicates that colourful rooms stimulate brain activity (Rickard Küller and others, Lund University).

10 10 GROUP STUDY ROOMS Learning together Listening, learning, daring to argue for your cause working in groups is an essential element of education today. Students learn how to work together and to actively seek knowledge. Those two skills are also useful in life after education, as meetings play an ever greater role in in the workday. EFG Classroom is eminently suitable for group study rooms. We also offer a wide range of other furnishings that fit the bill, too.
11 GROUP STUDY ROOMS 11 A school environment places very high demands on sound attenuation, especially as activities largely centre around spoken communication. The poorer the sound environment, the harder it is to take in information. At a round table everyone is equal, making it the perfect solution for interactive tasks.
12 12 STAFF ROOM The work students don t see Breaktime for students may also mean a break for staff -- unless there are papers to mark, lessons to prepare, material to copy. Breaktime for a teacher can be pure graft and it s work that students don t see, just like all the administrative tasks that have to be done. It helps to have functional, ergonomic furniture, but it s also important to please the eye: colours and shapes create a pleasant workplace.
13 STAFF ROOM 13 The staff room is often the chameleon of a school. It s meant to provide space for individual work, meetings, eating lunch and, not least, a welcoming environment for sheer relaxation.
14 14 MEETING PLACES Nourishment for body and soul We all know that a student with a full stomach performs better than a hungry one, and that the interior design of the dining room or café affects students results. It s not only about topping up energy levels, it s about socialising, clearing your mind and getting ready for the next class.
15 MEETING PLACES 15 A dining hall is a dining hall and it s easy to get stuck in traditional ideas of how it should look. But food tastes better in an inspiring environment with lively colours. Really.
16 16 BREAK In many ways, break areas are oases at school. The interior design should reflect that with furnishings that provide communal and private zones.
17 BREAK 17 The importance of doing nothing A break, the interval between two lessons. A time to study for the next lesson or do homework? Just remember, a brain working full speed all the time is usually not the brain that performs best. Breaktime is a chance for students, teachers and other staff to meet under more relaxed circumstances.
18 18 Our grounds for success EFG is one of Europe s largest manufacturers of furniture for offices, schools and public spaces. It s good to know, and good to know what kind of support you can expect from our design consultants. The basic requirements are often the same, but no two customers are ever alike. We work with four principles to achieve the best results. Listen and understand. It s easy to hear what you want to hear, and believe what you already know. We open our ears, listen, and even try to hear what s not being said. Discuss and suggest. There are rarely any readymade solutions. Solutions evolve as we work together. Show commitment and take responsibility. We can plan, manage and take responsibility for all the furnishings, from lighting and curtains to the environment in a tech room or gym. Show respect for the customer s budget. This runs through the entire project. The important thing is to design the optimal solution based on your needs and terms, regardless of the size of the budget. Regeneration can take place in giant steps or lots of small ones. The key is to work together to design an environment that is both functional and promotes well-being, an environment that motivates and inspires both students and co-workers. For a long time to come.
