Update when new/better data are available! Energy consumption costs (billing) Net metering (Cyprus) (13Habitat, Region LR, Malta)

5 5 Energy consumption data Monitoring II. Stream of consumption data provided by installed equipment File format: CSV (device export), MS excel (manual entry), on line access Essential tags: Dwelling ID as used in monitoring excel file (file name or excel sheet name) Data description (what is measured/device and dwelling specific): Total consumption kwh Appliance consumption kwh Load profile kw Time tag of the reading! Measurement period (2 files if possible): 1.Best available (1 minute, 15 minutes, 1 hour) 2.Monthly consumption (required for consumption indicators) (3.) Readouts from utility meter (billing) comparison/accuracy of installed equipment

6 6 Living lab I. (WP6 phase 4) Purpose Feedback from occupants Users opinion on consumption feedback: Which feedback elements / indicators are incomprehensible or unclear? Which feedback elements / indicators are uninteresting or deemed unnecessary? Which is the best feedback indicator? Is there something missing (indicator, display element, information, connectivity etc.)? Evaluation of consumption habits Inhabitants expectations shall be considered in re setting/adapting the smart metering equipment used where such modifications are applicable Stimulate energy efficient behavior Energy Consumption and Efficiency indicators Motivation to change \ELIH-Med\WP6_Intelligent energy management systems\deliverables WP6\Phase 4\ File: ELIH-Med_Phase4_LivingLab_v1.docx

12 12 Motivation to change Household consumption indicators should triggering the awareness of ones impact on household consumption and motivation to change. Soft efficiency measures and actions can be suggested as motivation inputs: 1. Behavior activities: Turn off the lights when not need; Turn off appliances and devices when not needed (i.e. TV, computer); Use turn off switch, not just stand by; Turn on the dishwasher/washing machine only when full; Use suitable weather conditions for dwelling ventilation; 2. Use of time delay operations (use of hi/low tariff system): Washing machine/tumble dryer; Dishwasher; Air conditioning/heating; Electric heater for DHW; 3. Replacing light bulbs with energy saving lamps; 4. Replacing old and inefficient household appliances;

13 To do Installation of meters (Region LR and Malta) Monitoring (Excel: 13Habitat, LR and Malta ) Survey/interview and consumption indicators (pilot partners) Living lab approach for inhabitants education on smart metering usage and behavior adaptation (survey/interview and indicators). Analysis (IJS) based on above: Evaluation of consumption habits and measure of the improvement of EE in pilot projects including WP5 results where applicable (cumulative effect of EE actions & consumption feedback) Conclusions and recommendations for improvements in Smart metering systems implementation in LIH based on performed evaluation. 13
