1 APPENDIX A1 MAPPING OF CURRENT LEADERSHIP PROVISION - SUMMARY OF CURRENT LOCAL PROVISON IN TRUST Papworth Hospital New manager/supervisor training and general training bands 6/7. Leadership Programme for junior and middle management Team Leaders Programme aimed at bands 4-6 which runs over 3 months. Focus is on personal leadership development within the context of Papworth, and introduces participants to leadership concepts, change management and organisational priorties. Leading a Department Programme aimed at Band 6 8a runs over 4 month period. Focus is on personal leadership development within the Cambridgeshire Community Services Coaching for (network of 5 coaches taking 3 coachees each at any time) - signpost individuals to EoE coaching register 360 LF Framework feedback sessions and access to this Chrysalis for 36 staff per cohort - has been running for a couple of years Virtual Ashridge (web based) resource for the Chrysalis attendees and other managers throughout the Trust as a resource Managers skills programme including People and Finance and Risk/Investigation skills plus Personal Resilience, Leading Teams through Change, and Project Management Essentials. Shadowing other more Cambridge University Hospitals Focus on back to basics i.e. management development in its widest contact and a major performance management initiative where all staff are assessed and the culture of performance management in the Trust developed; Leadership development increased focus on the needs of clinical staff e.g. recently completed a Clinical Directors/Divisional Directors programme plus work for aspiring consultants; plus a major piece of work to review the Francis recommendations led by the Chief Nurse and Head of OD/ plus engagement projects/ Board in the light of new CEX and new Chair and Monitor recommendations/ work on Talent Management Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals Senior leadership programme-for leaders/managers from a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles at Band 7 and above. The programme is run over 10 months, twice a year. Modules are based on the NHS Leadership Framework and interactive activities supplemented by Master Classes,Action Learning Sets, and completion of a work based improvement project, culminating in a Next Steps presentation event. Candidates undertake a Centre, 360 LF and MBTI assessments. Currently exploring possibility of obtaining ILM accreditation. Introduction to Hinchingbrooke Health Care Internal developed programmes: Preceptorship programme run over 6 months for all newly qualified nurses (currently being reviewed to become multi-professional. Leadership programme aimed at band 6 & 7 which includes an academic element and a service improvement project. Again this runs over 6 months and assessment is via a portfolio and presentations. We are currently developing leadership pathways for band 7 & 8 staff. Opportunities for shadowing, mentoring and coaching is available for individuals as assessed by their manager on an individual basis External programmes: Leadership accredited courses at degree and postgraduate levels accessed via the Higher Education institutions (again individuals identified by leads) Mentorship programmes Clinical supervision Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust Internal Leadership Programme in development for all band 7 and 8 staff. Programme runs for 1 year and provides a licence to lead for all senior managers. Includes academic, personal development and service improvement project. Plan to extend this to band s 5 & 6 staffing groups Admin Hub Manager and Administrator training Comprehensive training package for all admin staff - within the Trust. Covers management skills, professional admin skills and stat/mandatory training. Coaching/Mentoring opportunities available to all staff and need assessed by manager and then contracted via the L&D team Co-ordination of and access to Festival of Leadership offers a wide range of leadership development workshop Jmm v

Signposting individuals to national and regional training and development programmes senior leaders Developed our own set of Leadership Behaviours for CCS leaders Senior leadership development programme commissioned through unipart and any (modules or degrees or masters) that Prof Ed commission for individuals Access to Festival of Leadership offers a wide range of workshops Leadership -for new and aspiring leaders from clinical and nonclinical roles at Band 5&6.The programme is over a period of 5 months, 10 study days. A mixture of interactive study days, observations of care, networking, and political awareness, MBTI assessment, developing self awareness, team effectiveness / team building and needs led learning / workshops. Participants have to complete a portfolio of evidence for submission to demonstrate their leadership journey. They also participate in action learning through the whole programme. Participants have to work together to demonstrate their leadership skills by holding a closure workshop on the last day facilitated and developed by them as a group. (Work is underway to map the existing modules to the NHS Leadership Framework). programmes We have also participated in leadership initiatives including: Festival of leadership Leadership in practice programmes, top leaders programme, high potential executive programme, senior clinical leadership programme NHS Leadership Academy national programmes available to all staff. Internal centrally managed selection criteria for approval based on performance management process Internal Robust performance management process and set of Leadership Behaviours and performance criteria developed. Project Management Training delivered by PMO and currently aimed at those who are responsible for project implementation. To be rolled out further. Jmm v
3 Step into Management- for clinical and non-clinical staff at Band 3&4 to develop management capability for team leader/supervisor roles. The programme is run over 8 months, twice a year.
