The students must explain the reason behind producing the program and its elements relating to the client (PART B). Once the program has been designed and executed, the student must perform an evaluation (PART C). PART A PROGRAMMING AND TIMETABLE Create a fitness timetable and exercise program for each client. These must be tailored specifically to each of their needs, which should be determined in Task 2. As a minimum your plan will need to include the following information: Client details Current fitness levels Client goals Program phases Targeted adaptations Anticipated rate of client adaptation Periodisation of multiple target adaptations Number and nature of specific session programs Equipment requirements Facility requirements Review dates Timetable information Design a weekly session timetable for each client to approve. This timetable indentifies the days in which clients will be perform your exercises programs and any other fitness sessions. Ensure that you design a timetable in an appropriate format and gain the clients consent to use this timetable. Program information Your program needs to include at least 3 fitness sessions per client, ideally over a 5 or 6 week period. This means you will need to conduct 9 sessions (3 for each client) in total to complete Task 3. You will also need to have each client s signatures confirming that each of the timetabled sessions took place. During this task you must keep a session diary which outlines how the client responded, the strengths and weaknesses of the session and any other information that will help you to complete Task 4. Did you promote positive behaviour? Did you ask the child about their interests? Did you respect their differences? Did you support them in learning? You will need to submit copies of all the above feedback mechanisms. PART B SELF REVIEW Students are required to complete a self review of how they feel the case study progressed. This should involve: Did it meet the standards of a fitness professional? Why or why not? What new skills you developed Which elements did you find easy or hard? What improvements could you identify? PART C LONG TERM PROGRAMMING Many clients will be happy with short term programs for quick results; however, others will require long term planning e.g. an obese person who requires sustained and healthy weight loss over a period of time or a person preparing for a marathon in 10 months time. This task requires you to select one of your clients and undertake long term exercise programming. You will not be required to supervise this program, but you will need to design it. 1. Review and document your client s long term goals. Australian College of Sport & Fitness Page 16 of 24
17 2. Assess the client for relevant fitness level changes. You will need to repeat the fitness testing that you undertook for this client in Task 2. You must submit your findings. 3. Analyse and incorporate the client s exercise likes and dislikes. Document how these may have changed after your last program. 4. Write revised programs for your client. Your long term exercise plans MUST include: Client details Current fitness levels Client goals Program phases Targeted adaptations Anticipated rate of client adaptation Periodisation of multiple target adaptations Number and nature of specific session programs Equipment requirements Facility requirements Review dates 5. Provide written instructions to your clients on how to proceed with the program. Some clients may be able to continue alone, some may need to be referred to another personal trainer in order to complete the program. You must explain the rationale of your program and how it will help them to reach their fitness goals. TASK 4 SUBMISSION CHECKLIST Part A Completed copies of feedback mechanisms (evaluation form, informal notes, session diaries, parent/caregiver letter) Findings from the client review (question 2) Part B Self review report answering the questions Part C Report on long term goals Fitness Testing results Review of likes and dislikes Long Term program Advice and instructions for client Australian College of Sport & Fitness Page 17 of 24
