2 COURSE DESCRIPTION: The ROP Dental Assistant / Chairside I course is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position in a dental office. Students will learn how to prepare the patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, setup instrument trays, and prepare the materials that will be needed by the dentist during the examination. In addition, students will learn theory and clinical application in dental radiographic, in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the California Board of Dental Examiners. A uniform is required. Students successfully completing this course will advance to the Dental Assistant/Chairside II course where they will be assigned at a community classroom (internship) site to gain actual experience in the dental field.
