Chapter 1 Introduction to CCRM This chapter includes: CCRM Overview 13 CCRM 9.30 Solution Diagrams 15 Hardware and Software Requirements 19 CCRM Project Planning 34 HP Universal CMDB Overview 38 HP Service Manager Overview 38 HP Release Control Overview 39 HP Operations Orchestration Overview 39 HP Project and Portfolio Management Overview 40 HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager Overview 40 CCRM Overview Changes to your IT infrastructure arise for the following reasons: proactively to provide benefits to your organization, either through lower total cost of ownership (TCO), or by providing options that enable your business to develop. reactively to resolve errors that have an impact on the level of services that are provided. IT organizations today are plagued with numerous incidents that result from unplanned or improperly planned changes to the organization. The Core Change Configuration and Release Management (CCRM) solution: provides the structure and formal workflow necessary to implement changes. reduces the risk of making changes by providing an accurate picture of your IT infrastructure, as well as the impact any change may have on IT services. enables early detection of unplanned changes. plan changes using an accurate record of the IT infrastructure. An integration between HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB) and HP Service Manager (SM) enables you to share information about the actual state of a configuration item (CI) between your UCMDB system and a Service Manager system. Any organization that wants to implement the best practices Configuration Management and Change Management ITIL processes can use this integration to verify that CIs actually have the attribute values the organization has agreed to support. Page 13 of 83

Chapter 1: Introduction to CCRM You can use this integration to automate the creation of Service Manager change or incident records to update or rollback CIs that have unexpected attribute values. Service Manager allows you to programmatically define what actions you want to take whenever a CI s actual state does not match the expected state as defined in the CI record. HP Release Control (RC) provides your IT organization with an advanced set of capabilities designed to assist in the proper planning and implementation of planned changes to your IT infrastructure. HP Operations Orchestration (OO) provides an automation extension to the CCRM solution that is easily implemented and provides the ability to automatically execute parameterized OO flows from SM. HP Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) provides another easily implemented extension to the CCRM solution that is designed for the performance and scalability requirements of large and growing organizations. The HP PPM Center software is designed specifically to help large enterprises govern the priorities, processes, and people of IT in order to increase IT business value, optimize IT service delivery, and reduce IT costs the top issues of CIOs today. HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager (UCMDB-CM) provides an extension to perform closed loop change and configuration management, enabling users to control changes and perform change management according to configuration standards. An extension module can always be added to the CCRM solution in order to cover broader functionalities and processes. 38 Chapter 1: Introduction to CCRM HP Universal CMDB Overview HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB) consists of a rich business-service-oriented data model with builtin discovery of configuration items (CIs) and configuration item dependencies, visualization and mapping of business services, and tracking of configuration changes. HP Universal CMDB enables you to manage all the CIs contained in a managed world. A managed world refers to any self-contained environment that can be described using a topology model (defined with HP s Topology Query Language (TQL)). For example, the IT infrastructure of a large business represents a managed world, where the topology comprises multiple layers such as networks, protocols, databases, operating systems, and so on. You manage views to view the information in exactly the format you require. Additionally, the information contained in the results of each TQL is updated automatically with the latest data entering the configuration management database (CMDB). As a result, once a TQL and View have been defined, they continue to provide up-to-date information about the current state of your managed world. Views are displayed in multi-level maps that enable you to identify key CIs, as required. You can also create reports (in HTML, Excel or table format) about information collected by the system. HP Universal CMDB addresses the following operational and functional needs: IT resources and application alignment. Automatic discovery of IT resources and their interdependencies from a business service perspective. Problem resolution. Understanding the causal relationships between CIs to locate and address the root cause of infrastructure problems and reduce troubleshooting time. Business impact analysis. Evaluating the impact of infrastructure events on business services to assess their implications and prioritize the responses to them. Asset and change management control. Automatic detection of infrastructure changes, to enable automatic updating of all the relevant sub-systems. Customized state management (performance, change). Ability to define a CI management state. Performance management and capacity planning. Architecture and infrastructure planning. Federation and reconciliation data. Retrieved from existing repositories and other CMDBs. HP Service Manager Overview HP Service Manager stores the managed or expected state of CIs and CI relationships as attribute values in a CI record. To be part of the integration, a CI attribute in your UCMDB system must map to a managed field in the Service Manager CI record. You can add, remove, or update the managed fields that are part of the integration by tailoring the Service Manager Web services that manage the integration. Service Manager runs according to a set of rules that define what actions you want the system to take whenever a CI s actual state does not match the expected state as defined in the CI record. Page 38 of 83

Chapter 1: Introduction to CCRM You define these rules from the Discovery Event Manager (DEM) in Service Manager where you can do the following: Automatically update a CI record to match the attribute values listed in the actual state. (This is the default behavior.) Automatically create a change record to review the differences between the actual state and the managed state. Automatically create an incident record to review the differences between the actual state and the managed state. HP Release Control Overview HP Release Control (RC) analyzes each change request in the system and provides real-time information and alerts during implementation. In addition, HP Release Control enables collaboration, feedback, and review throughout the release life cycle. HP Operations Orchestration Overview HP Operations Orchestration (OO) is a system for creating and using actions in structured sequences (called Ops flows or flows) that maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and provision your Information Technology (IT) resources by: Checking the health of, diagnosing, and repairing networks, servers, services, software applications, or individual workstations. Checking client, server, and virtual machines for needed software and updates and, if needed, performing the needed installations, updates, or distributions. Performing repetitive tasks such as checking status on internal or external Web site pages. The two main components of HP OO are Central and Studio. HP OO Central is a Web-based interface in which users can: Run flows Administer the system Extract and analyze data resulting from the flow runs HP OO Studio is a standalone authoring program in which flow authors can: Create, modify, and test flows, including flows that run automatically, as scheduled. Create new operations. You can create operations within Studio and run them within Central. You can also create operations that execute outside Central, in a remote action service (RAS). You do so in a development environment that is appropriate to the task, then associate the code that you have created with an operation that you create in Studio. Specify which levels of users are allowed to run various parts of flows. Page 39 of 83

Chapter 1: Introduction to CCRM HP Project and Portfolio Management Overview HP Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) is viewed via the HP Project and Portfolio Management Center (PPM Center) using a standard user interface that appears as a collection of specialized Web pages. These pages open in a Web browser and offer a customized view into the PPM Center. The PPM Center has the following components: PPM Dashboard: The PPM Dashboard provides the core of the standard user interface. By using the PPM Dashboard, you can obtain accurate, up-to-the-minute status on your projects and deliverables. With the PPM Dashboard, project teams always know their current status. Managers gain real-time insight into progress and problems in the projects they manage. Executives can view all initiatives from an IT value perspective at a high level, which helps to ensure alignment with the company s overall strategic direction. Navigation path: Above the PPM Dashboard is the navigation path. The navigation path lists the pages opened during the current PPM Dashboard session. Users can access previously visited pages by selecting entries on the navigation path. Menu bar: The menu bar presents a hierarchical organization of menus, submenus, and menu items. Menus and submenus organize the menu items. Menu items open task-oriented pages, such as reports and searches. Some menu items, such as Open > Administration > Program Processes > Manage Issue Process, open windows in the PPM Workbench. HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager Overview HP UCMDB Configuration Manager (UCMDB-CM) helps IT establish configuration standards and policies that improve the resiliency of the environment and the quality of data in the UCMDB for consuming IT processes. UCMDB-CM provides an extension to the CCRM solution which enables users to manage change by configuration standards, validate planned changes, and authorize or rollback unplanned changes. HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager is a joint release of several components: HP Universal CMDB foundation HP Universal CMDB foundation (UCMDB foundation) is a configuration management database (CMDB) for enterprise IT organizations to document, store, and manage business service definitions and associated infrastructure relationships. UCMDB foundation implements a data model, data flow management, and data modeling capabilities, and also provides impact analysis, change tracking, and reporting capabilities in order to transform CMDB data into comprehensible, actionable information that helps answer critical questions and solve business problems. HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager HP Universal CMDB Configuration Manager (CM) introduces new policy based topology and inventory configuration governance. Created specifically for configuration managers and configuration owners, it allows these users to perform though analysis in addition to the CI data Page 40 of 83

Chapter 1: Introduction to CCRM and topology content available in or through UCMDB. Configuration Manager provides configuration managers and owners the required tools for easily setting up both topology and inventory configuration policies, as well as automatically determining their level of compliance to organizational standards. Configuration Manager is deployed as an additional Tomcat-based server. It communicates with the UCMDB server using the extensive UCMDB SDK. HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping Advanced Edition HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping Advanced Edition (DDMA) software, with rich and constantly updated content, is UCMDB's preferred method for acquiring and maintaining the IT.
