1 AEROMEDICAL TRAINING & WORKSHOPS GOLD COAST AUSTRALIA QUEENSTOWN NEW ZEALAND
2 AEROMEDICAL INDUCTION TRAINING SCHEDULE INTRODUCTION The standards required for accreditation as an air ambulance service in New Zealand are the joint standards released by the Aviation Industry Association of New Zealand (AIANZ) Air Ambulance / Air Rescue division and Ambulance New Zealand. This standard outlines the required training, crew composition and minimum skill sets for aeromedical crew. As there is no such standard for Australian aeromedical crew training, the course is based on this outline and has incorporated other components that are relevant to the tasks to be met by medical staff on a primary aeromedical helicopter. The course has been endorsed by the Aviation Industry Association of New Zealand Air Ambulance / Air Rescue division as meeting the training requirements of the Air Rescue Air Ambulance standard. PRE REQUISITES FOR STUDENTS Medical crew undertaking this course have the appropriate medical training, qualifications and experience required to deliver advanced medical care as crew on an air ambulance service and have or will meet the necessary selection criteria of an aeromedical service for the roles of paramedic, flight nurse or doctor. This course does not give the student these qualifications. This course is not designed to teach medical crew the medical skills required to undertake a position within an aeromedical service but to provide an introduction to and basic practical skills required for medical crew to work in and around helicopters. Specialist Medical College Course endorsements The Syllabus has been recognized by the following organizations and accredited for 12 MOPS workshop points with the ACEM, and 24 CME points with the RNZCGP Australasian College of Emergency Medicine
