1 AAS: Physical Therapy Assistant AY AY2016 Program Assessment Plan Person completing Assessment Plan: Joann Gutschick Program Mission Statement: The mission of the PTA program is to produce graduate physical therapist assistants who are capable of providing safe, competent and ethical physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Current Program Outcomes Graduates of this program will be able to: 1. Demonstrate competencies necessary to successfully complete the national licensure exam. 2. Provide competent, safe and ethical patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. 3. Demonstrate effective, respectful and culturally sensitive communication and interpersonal skills. 4. Use critical thinking skills to appropriately assess patient response to treatment interventions and respond appropriately. 5. Educate patient, family, other providers and the community about physical therapy. 6. Implement self-assessment and self-directed lifelong learning. Proposed Changes to Program Outcomes Graduates of this program will be able to: 1. Practice abilities and critical thinking skills necessary to carry out the physical therapy plan of care. 2. Provide competent, safe and ethical patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. 3. Cultivate effective, respectful and culturally sensitive communication and interpersonal skills. 4. Use critical thinking skills to assess patient response to treatment 5. Formulate educational plans for the patient, family, other providers and the community related to physical therapy 6. Critique self-assessment and self-directed lifelong learning. Direct Measure of Learning In, students demonstrate competence in entry level skill required of a Physical Therapist Assistant under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. Indirect Measures of Learning 1. Graduation rate is at least 60% averaged over 2 years. 2. Ultimate licensure pass rate is at least 80% averaged over 2 years. 3. Employment rate is at least 90% averaged over 2 years. 4. Graduate surveys will reflect they felt prepared or very prepared for at least 90% of the criteria. 5. Employer surveys will reflect graduates were prepared or very prepared for at least 90% of the criteria.

Current Program Outcomes Graduates of this program will be able to: 1. Demonstrate competencies necessary to successfully complete the national licensure exam. 2.
