1 Advanced TDMS Database Training COURSE OUTLINE This course is intended to leverage existing knowledge of TDMS databases. Advanced functions will be covered that enhance the end-user experience or allow for more complex interfaces to be built. Advanced communications will also be covered. Comfortable with Plus Editors, Worldview Editing, Database and Tone Telemetry. 2 ConfigWiz This course will be a more advanced course, for those already familiar with ConfigWiz for existing applications. The approach in this class will be hands on - the latest features and techniques to solve today s issues with IED s and substation networking will be discussed with relevant examples. The basics will be covered briefly at the beginning of the course. Equipment will be available to practice these new techniques using ConfigWiz. A few different IED s will be on hand as well as an ASE test set and a network analyzer to demonstrate these configurations. It is advisable that attendees have some working knowledge of ConfigWiz, but it is not required. A CDROM with all example configurations and documentation will be provided to all attendees. 3 Open Data Access (ODA) Course Outline ODA is CG Automation s Open Data Access product. It brings SCADA data, both real-time and historical, into the database/windows world. This course has two main topic areas, administration and data manipulation. Administration will provide functional information and how to practical skill enhancement in the areas of backup, archive, and data persistence. Data manipulation will explore and discuss how ODA data can be utilized to answer business questions such as what is my growth, season to season? or how can I do predictive maintenance based on this data? Several potential ways to present the data to non-scada users will be presented to empower them to utilize this information independent of the direct support of the onsite SCADA master. Automated reports, user-driven queries, and ways to handle the what happened yesterday? scenario will be discussed. An examination of the application of other tools (like Excel, Access, web pages) to solve the age-old conundrum of being data rich but information poor will also be undertaken. Student should have a good understanding of their SCADA Operation, data requirements, PC skills and the database being used. Laptop that has SQL Express installed and either Excel or Access as well. 5 TDMS-Plus and System Managers Course Outline The System Managers course for OpenVMS covers many useful topics that will allow system administrators, lead operators or other technical staff, who have the responsibility of maintaining a TDMS-Plus SCADA Master Station, the ability to perform routine administrative, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance steps to keep the Master Station running in good condition. Topics covered include system backups, restorations, disk maintenance and re-booting, database verification, file sizing, VMS monitoring and scanmon. Live systems will be available to provide practical examples for each topic as needed. Presentation handouts and a copy of the TDMS-Plus System Managers Guide (SM2000) will be provided to attendees for their use. Knowledge of TDMS-Plus Database and familiarity with Microsoft Windows and SCADA Utility Operations.
