1 This year s school production will be We Will Rock You If you are interested in acting, singing or dancing or just want to work behind the scenes then we look forward to you attending the first meeting. There are many things to do taking part in this musical. The first meeting will be on Thursday 31 st January After school in A17 If you do not know what We Will Rock You is about then please read the synopsis of the musical below. We really would like as many pupils to get involved because pupils last year enjoyed it a great deal.

2 The story is set in the unspecified, vaguely Orwellian future. Earth's name has been changed to Planet Mall. As the name would suggest, mainstream commercial conformity reigns. Everywhere on the planet, people watch the same movies, listen to computergenerated music, wear the same clothes and hold the same thoughts and opinions. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown. Representative government has been eliminated. All are controlled by the Worldwide mega-corporation Globalsoft, which is headed by the "Killer Queen" and the commander of her secret police, the evil Khashoggi. Those who dare to stand against Globalsoft's enforced conformity are kidnapped and "brain stormed" into submission. However, a small group of "Bohemians" struggles to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and (most of all) live music. As with the classic quest stories that it spoofs, the musical includes both a Messiah figure, the social outcast Galileo Figaro, and a MacGuffin that will restore freedom, the lost guitar of Queen guitarist, Brian May. Together with his love interest, another dissident whom Galileo calls Scaramouche, Galileo joins with the Bohemians to find the guitar, and overthrow Globalsoft. However, when the Bohemians are captured and brain stormed, Galileo and Scaramouche are forced to flee for their lives. Eventually they meet Pop, an older, hippie-esque Bohemian who yearns for the "old days" when people were free and Rock & Roll was king...or Queen as the case may be. Again fulfilling the classic role of "Guide" for the two, Pop shows them a fragment of the Queen video (which ends after the opening lyrics), "Bohemian Rhapsody," further inspiring them. Impressed by the heavenly music, Galileo and Scaramouche eventually decide to search for the guitar at Wembley Stadium, the location of two legendary concerts by Queen. Though the Stadium is a ruin, they find the guitar hidden in a wall. With guitar in hand, and Pop serving as "roadie" for the two saviors, they perform a rousing rendition of the title song, "We Will Rock You," and conclude with a marvelous arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody." Played for laughs, there is very little real story to We Will Rock You. While the musical is a spoof of the classic quest tale with some moments of clever dialogue, it exists predominately as a framework allowing a vocally talented cast to perform covers of Queen's greatest hits. Songs included in the production may vary from theatre to theatre, but generally include favourites such as "Another One Bites the Dust," "Hammer to Fall," "A Kind of Magic," and more.

4 Pop Pop is a former librarian, who has read the lost texts about music. In the first scene, he is arrested, but he returns in the final scene to help Galileo and Scaramouche discover the lost instruments which are buried on Planet Mall. Commander Khashoggi Khashoggi is the leader of the Ga Ga Cops, and is the Killer Queen's general dogsbody. He arrests Pop, Galileo, Scaramouche, Britney and Meat in the musical, but is ultimately brainwashed himself when Galileo and Scaramouche manage to escape from the Heartbreak Hotel. Galileo Figaro Galileo is arrested by Khashoggi for singing, and is taken to the hospital, where he meets Scaramouche. He tells her that he hears song lyrics in normal life and in his dreams. Later, they meet Britney and Meat, which ultimately leads them to meet Pop, who helps them to rediscover the lost musical instruments. Scaramouche Scaramouche is arrested for singing and meets Galileo in hospital. Together, they meet Britney and Meat, then Pop, who helps them to rediscover the lost musical instruments. The Killer Queen The Killer Queen is the head of the Globalsoft Corporation. With Khashoggi, she ensures that all music is banned, and anyone who breaks this ban is arrested and brainwashed. When Galileo discovers the lost instruments at Wembley Stadium, she is vaporised by the Power Of Rock. Britney Spears Britney Spears is one of the Bohemians, a group of rebels who strive to rediscover the lost music and rebel against Globalsoft. With Meat, whilst looking for materials to make instruments from, he discovers Galileo. He realises that Galileo must be The Dreamer as he knows many lost lyrics, and takes him to the Heartbreak Hotel, which ultimately leads to Galileo rediscovering the lost instruments and ending the Globalsoft domination. Meat Loaf Meat Loaf is Britney's partner and a fellow member of the Bohemians. Although sceptical that Galileo may be The Dreamer, she travels with Britney to take him to the Heartbreak Hotel to meet the other

5 Bohemians. Whilst there, she and Britney are captured by the Ga Ga Cops and later brainwashed, but are freed in the end by the Power Of Rock. Want to know more follow this link to the London website
