Students will be introduced to the concepts of voltage, resistance, current, inductance, and capacitance and how they affect telecommunications. TTP301 - Cable Fault Location with TDR Time Domain Refectometer (TDR) is one of the most common methods used to locate and isolate problems with copper cable systems in the telecommunication industry. This TDR training provides the technician with the skills sets to obtain distance to faults and to see a snap shot view of the nature of the various types of faults found on copper cable systems. This course teaches the technician to locate and classify the five most common types of cable trouble, to be able to recognize the signature traces of those faults displayed by the TDR devices, and to be able to identify the distances to those faults by setting the calibration of the device to the correct specifications. TTP300 - Cable Fault Location without TDR Fault detection and location for buried and aerial cable plant requires specific coordination requirements between the technician and the equipment being used to accomplish each task. Without the assistance of reliable fault locating equipment and training on proper use, a technician may be hard pressed to locate many cable faults. This course provides participants with best practice techniques required to locate the path and depth of cables as well as determine the appropriate type of test equipment needed to perform such tasks. TTP312 - Cable Splicing Splicing is the series of operations required for the joining of sections of copper cable. It involves three general operations: determining which wires of each cable section are to be joined, the actual joining and splicing of the wires, and properly bonding and grounding the cable and sealing the completed splice to prevent the entrance of moisture. This course teaches participants to open, bond, and splice copper cables. Participants will also be able to identify cable pairs by color code and number.

TTP308 - Fiber Optic Troubleshooting 20 Hours 2.0 CEU s Optical fiber can be used as a medium for telecommunication and computer networking because it is flexible and can be bundled as cables. It is especially advantageous for long-distance communications, because light propagates through the fiber with little attenuation compared to electrical cables. Each fiber can carry many independent channels, each using a different wavelength of light. During this course, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of troubleshooting fiber optic systems. Our telecommunications instructors are highly qualified subject matter experts with years of experience in their field. Their skill and industry knowledge will provide the participant with hands-on opportunities to work through real-life classroom troubleshooting exercises.
