1 CIWv5 E-Commerce Designer The CIW E-Commerce Designer series May 2005 release consists of one course: E-Commerce Strategies and Practices. This blueprint lists the following information for that course. Courseware Availability Date identifies the availability date for the courseware. Revision History identifies changes in the course since the last release. Course Outline details the main courseware content. Software Requirements lists required software and evaluation versions used in the course. Note: This blueprint is subject to change. Please check back frequently for the most up-to-date version. E-Commerce Strategies and Practices (version 5.0) Courseware Availability Date The following availability date is the release date for the E-Commerce Strategies and Practices courseware. E-Commerce Strategies and Practices May 27, Revision History Release May 2005 (version 5.0) CIW version 5 (CIW v5) represents a major revision to the CIW E-Commerce Designer courseware. CIW v5 is the newest version of the CIW skills objectives, an industry-standard set of skills required for today's Information Technology (IT) job roles. The CIW v5 skills objectives were developed with extensive input from academic partners and subject matter experts in the IT and education industries (including Intel, Hewlett-Packard and Corinthian Colleges). The revised objectives reflect advancements in technologies and tools, updates to accessibility standards, and current workplace skills requirements. The official CIW v5 E-Commerce Designer courseware series supports all exam objectives in both the CIW v4 and CIW v5 (pending) E-Commerce Designer certification exams. In addition to revised skills objectives, the CIW v5 E-Commerce Designer courseware series includes substantial improvements over the CIW v4 E-Commerce Designer courseware, including the following: Upgraded the operating system from Windows 2000 Advanced Server to Windows Server 2003 Upgraded Commerce Server 2000 to Commerce Server 2002 Updated Web sites used in lesson labs and screenshots Updated and replaced obsolete, upgraded or currently unavailable software Updated all lessons to current technologies and commerce strategies Introduced two additional lessons Replaced all lab files Added Case Studies that discuss real-world applications of skills Added content on blogging
2 Added content on e-learning, including Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Learning System Management (LMS) types Added content on microcommerce Expanded information on e-commerce security concerns, including phishing, incident response, system forensics and common attack types Expanded information on privacy concerns, including identity theft and ethical practices Expanded content on marketing strategies, including incentive plans, banner exchange and referrer programs) Implemented open-source e-commerce software Added references to movie clips (provided on the CIW v5 Master Designer Movie CD) from LearnKey ( that review concepts in a multimedia format Revised Web development labs to be based on the not-for-profit organization Habitat for Humanity Web site Increased emphasis on Web accessibility standards Incorporated instructor feedback and errata CIW Certified Instructors (CIs) must review the material before their first teach, due to the developmental revision. Released March 2003 (version 4.0) This release was considered a course enhancement. The main differences between E-Commerce Strategies and Practices v4.0 and the previous version (v3.07 released March 2002) are as follows: Applied new publishing template to course for more professional look and feel Entered errata (an error in writing or printing, including but not limited to spelling, style and code errors) Updated software from Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 to Commerce Server 2002 Updated lessons 10, 11, 12 and 13 to reflect the software upgrade to Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Released March 2002 (version 3.07) This release was considered a course enhancement. The main differences between this version (v3.07) of E-Commerce Strategies and Practices and the previous version (v2.07 released August 1, 2001) were as follows: Introduced separate instructor and student guides Added Added instructor margin notes Enhanced Lesson Summary Added Instructor Section containing Activities, Optional Labs and Lesson Quizzes Added Syllabi (for academic instructors) and Implementation Tables (for learning center instructors) CIW Certified Instructors (CIs) must review the material before their first teach, due to the developmental revision.

Issues such as product name changes were not finalized when this course went to print. Therefore, some course narrative, labs, figures and URLs still refer to these applications as products of Macromedia. These references will be updated in future releases of CIW courseware, after information becomes available from Adobe.
