1 Business Plan ATII s Automotive Technology Internship Institute and Career Building Center Grow a Career with Career Building Programs Introduction After Beta, ATII plans to reinstate its current not-for-profit status, and after Beta has been up and running, ATII will apply with the department of higher education proprietary school certification program with the State of Missouri; this will make ATII a four-year college. Part of ATII will be an internship institute that provides world class instruction to students that wish to become master mechanics in both engines and transmissions. A short time after Beta has been up and running, we will institute 3 for-profit businesses. This will give graduate students a place to go to gain more experience and get paid a good salary. In the beginning intern students will work to help create a mechanic auto information gathering database, documenting each engine and transmission component and all fasteners, bolts, nuts, and brackets. During Beta, Web Auto Repair Database will be created and work with Online Digital Production Studios to put the auto database on line to be used by paying customers to look up engine components. Online Digital Production Studios will build training videos to be sold to school, colleges, and business, and will be available to the public to do contract work. Both companies will put some profits into ATII employee s bonus program and salaries. Those businesses will serve the general public on anyone of their needs, at a reasonable monetary charge; those charges will help keep ATII going: Business Open to the General Public Auto Repair Shop Auto Collision ATII Machine Shop Part of ATII Web Auto Repair Database (WARD) Online Digital Production Studios Students can choose which program they want to begin with. Students can choose a single program or any combination of programs. (i.e., Engine/Transmission Mechanic School-> Machine Shop -> Auto Body/Collision)-> Web Auto Repair Database-> Online Digital Production. The students of the school will work internships in Automotive Technology Engine and Transmissions, Auto Collision and Machine Shops. The school will be open to the general public for cars that need: Total engine/transmission remanufacture (replacement of all parts in engine/transmission with new factory parts) General collision repair/body work (dents, etc.) If customers wish to offer their cars for ATII interns to perform total engine and transmission remanufacturing then customers will pay only the cost of parts - labor is provided "free." 1

2 The businesses, not part of ATII, will be open to the public for actual auto repair, auto machine shop, and auto body repair. Customers will be charged as any auto business would charge, $90.00 per hour shop fees + parts. Interns will be working with master technicians and all work performed in the private business will be under warranty. When ATII interns working in the engine and transmission remanufacturing, when engines are disassembled the engine components need to be remanufactured, such as the block, cylinder heads, crankshafts and camshafts. ATII will send those engine components to the machine shop, which is a private business; the machine shop will remanufacture those engine components and donate all labor to ATII for tax credits. Another business working with ATII and their interns will be Web Auto Repair Database or WARD. As cars are worked on and remanufactured, the data - including 3D pictures/video, etc., will be uploaded to WARD's Database and available to the public as instructional information for a recurring monthly fee. Data/images are provided to WARD at no charge. A portion of subscription fees earned by WARD are donated back to the school. Included will be video recording designed as a teaching tool for auto manufacturing companies, colleges or trade schools to be used by those institutions instructors as tools to help instruct their class, students can view live streams of each step needed in auto repair. ATII would accept non-violent felons as students. The idea here is that many potential students from the justice system lack education, which may be part of the reason why they have been in trouble. This is why they have been included, but they must be sincere about wanting to change their lives. This gives non-violent felons the opportunity to make a positive change and live a better life. Each phased approach Alpha will be started on a limited scale with a few students and instructors to not only help design and set up the operation, but to allow ATII to prove its need for the community and be allowed to grow. Beta will be when the decision is made to largely increase the size of ATII, including the amount of students and instructors. The transition period will be when Alpha proves it is time to expand into Beta. Initial Needs/Requirements for Alpha Phase Number of intern students from each group in ALPHA phase: 1 Graduate student from Kansas City, Missouri, Metropolitan Community College/Longview Campus, Automotive Technology 1 Graduate student from Johnson County Community College, Automotive Technology 2 Students from Jackson County Missouri Juvenile Justice system 1 Adult student from the circuit court of Jackson County Missouri 1 Non-Violent adult in the process of being paroled from prison Total of 6 student interns, plus two 3 rd and 4 th year students from Kansas City Art Institute Employees Needed: Director 2 Master Mechanics 1 Data Entry 1 Animator With 2 master mechanics, both can float to cover the 3 teams Team Size: 2

3 3 teams of 2 intern students How is ATII going to obtain cars for work? ATII will need a large influx of vehicles to support Automotive Technology Internship Institute s engine and transmission remanufacturing Alpha and Beta phase program. Potential partner contacts: Insurance companies Work with insurance companies to obtain their policy holders wrecked vehicles for total factory remanufacturing ATII will advertise for donated cars and give tax credits as other companies receiving donated cars. ATII s goal is to receive donated cars, vans, SUV, trucks, etc. to totally remanufacture, and then donate to a deserving veteran or family needing a safe car for transportation to and from work. Once the remanufacturing process is completed the cars can go on an ATII sales lot to be sold, with profits split between the investor and ATII. Inventory from the sales lot will also be available worldwide on the web. Other profits would come from the collision and machine shops not working with donated cars, but open for business to the general public. Other sources of income will come from training videos designed for high schools, colleges, or technical businesses and online live streams for automotive technology schools or businesses. 3

4 A subscription customer database through Web Auto Repair Database is envisioned. As ATII master mechanics and their interns remove engine components, Web Auto Repair Database instructors and interns will record a live stream online showing the work being done. Showcased will be disconnecting the engine and transmission electrical connectors, removing other essential engine and transmission components, brackets, and supports, removing brakes, axels, etc. so both engine and transmission can be removed from the vehicle. While the engine and transmission are being disassembled, the interns will assist WARD s team by working with the animators who are structuring 3D images of each engine and transmission component to flow with the auto manufactures service shop manual. The 3D images and information collected on each component will be uploaded to Web Auto Repair Database s website. This will be a paid and subscribed website. Adding additional revenue: In Alpha phase Online Digital Production Studios will be already in process, but not on a full scale. Student interns will work uploading engine and component information to the website. Animators will create three-dimensional engine and transmission component images for the website. Now ATII s affiliated partner, Online Digital Production Studios, will expand the projects which will open many doors for the interns. Some of those programs are: Develop professional introduction training, digital video recordings, for businesses. Creating professional training products so businesses can train their employees on the job or at home. Develop professional automotive technology so colleges and schools have easy access to ATII training for auto mechanics. Create educational needs digital video recordings for colleges or schools on topics such as easy understand Mathematics and English something not taught in school. Online Digital Production Studios has many divisions incorporated into its body. Digital video recordings would be a program offered. ODPS s professional staff and interns from those partner internship colleges could produce such programs as advertising including infomercials to promote and sell our affiliated companies offerings, or for any business needs. Plus a revenue stream from the professional businesses open to the general public for auto repair, machine shop work, or auto body work, in those businesses customer pay the full package on any work completed on their cars. ATII s College Tuition ATII Automotive Technology Internship Technology, Programs run 24 months, eight hour day, five days a week. Because the two community colleges, Metropolitan Community College of Kansas City, Missouri, MCCKC and Johnson County Community College of Overland Park, Kansas, JCCC, both community colleges automotive technology certificate programs run 50 credit hours with only basic instruction. According to MCCKC own web site their students chances of obtaining a job is 0%, students never obtain a job in auto 4

5 repair. If a student is lucky enough to get an internship job with an auto manufacturer s auto dealership, for the first year those students change oil, change tires, act as goffers for the master mechanics. It would benefit both MCCKC and JCCC to become involved in helping ATII with funding through their foundations, placing their best students into ATII s internship programs gaining a reputation of caring for their own graduate students. ATII will be reaching out to the District Courts in Jackson and Johnson Counties, as well as reaching out to Kansas and Missouri Probation Departments, and the juvenile justice system, not only to have positions available as students, but for revenue as well. It is far cheaper to educate offenders than incarcerate them; offenders once released have nowhere to go but a dead end job. After ATII those same graduate students will be in demand for a high paying job. As stated ATII will be a four-year college under the department of higher education proprietary school certification program with the State of Missouri, but what benefits the justice department, the courts, probation department, and juvenile justice system, ATII will also offer GED classes, English classes, basic math classes, and reading classes, while any student attending any internship ATII program can take those classes in the morning before the internship classes start, or classes after the evening internship program are completed for the day. Once passing those courses all students will be eligible and capable to work on their AA Degrees It will be a hard road for some students; the internship programs run 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and will be treated as a full time job. We will work to build the right attitude of being on the job on time, working with teams, and just building proper work habits while teaching engine and transmission disassembly in chronological order of operation. The justice department, the courts, probation department, and juvenile justice system, can monitor on line, view the offender on live streams on line, view attendance records, view promptness and the offenders attitude to earn a decent paying job. After Graduation Different opportunities will be available for ATII student interns who have graduated from any of ATII s or affiliate company programs. Graduate students could continue on and expand their knowledge by switching to a different internship program. Machine shop graduates could move to auto engine and transmission remanufacturing, or auto collision, or Online Digital Production Studios. Another option that might present itself is the graduate becoming a paid employee working a job at ATII from which they graduated. Former MCC-KC and JCCC students who have graduated from any of ATII Automotive Technology Internship Institute s programs, especially ATII s engine and transmission remanufacturing graduate students, might return to their alma mater and work as an instructor.
