Alarming is used within the overall system to draw attention to critical process events and to support the user in localizing and eliminating them. For example alarms are configured: at the setting of Limits for variables with Reaction matrices Important terms: Alarm Message List Event-oriented unfiltered or filtered display of lists Alarm Line Red headline with the oldest or most recent unacknowledged alarm entry in the Alarm Message List Alarm Logging Open or closed text output on the alarm printer Screen alarming Screen alarm management by means of color handling and blinking attribute (only for <CD_SIEMENS_PRODUCTNAME<) Acoustic alarming Control of external alarming devices or the PC horn via function activation Export alarms evacuating the alarm archives Alarms are saved in a ring buffer (alarm.bin) and in an alarm file (*.aml) in der Runtime folder as soon as they occur. The ring buffer includes all active alarms. At this the following things are managed: Time received in milliseconds as unique signature additional information such as cause, value, etc. Time cleared Time acknowledged 2

When acknowledging alarms, all alarms of a variable with the same limit violation are deleted at the same time from the ring buffer. As soon as the alarm is acknowledged, it is deleted from the ring buffer. Exception: If property To delete is set, the alarm must be deleted by the user decidedly. The size of the ring buffer must be set to an appropriated size in the project properties via property Size of the ringbuffer. At least number of variables for which alarms can occur. The ring buffer is automatically saved as file alarm.bin when the Runtime is closed. If the Runtime is closed due to an unexpected event, e.g. power outage, data will be lost. To prevent this, the ring buffer can be saved manually via property Save ringbuffer on change whenever a new entry is added or via function Save AML and CEL ring buffer (on page 40). In the Runtime the ring buffer is handled dynamically in the memory. Via the defined number of alarms, even alarms which do not have a cleared time stamp can be displayed. Thus alarms are displayed which exceed the size of the ring buffer. Example Size of the ring buffer: 100 entries Active alarms in the Runtime without cleared time stamp: 120 Display in the AML in the Runtime: 120 All alarms are written in an alarm file (*.aml) at the same time as in the ring buffer. It is created automatically for each calendar day and can be managed via property Save AML data. The name of the alarm file is put together by the letter A, followed ny the date in form JJMMDD and the suffix.aml; e.g. A aml. These files are created for each day automatically and are transferred or deleted by the user if storage capacity is limited. Ring buffer and alarm file are synchronized. This synchronization ensues from the ring buffer to the alarm file. All changes such as acknowledging are only carried out in the ring buffer and are then synchronized with the alarm file. Thus for example all unacknowledged alarms can be displayed in the alarm file and the acknowledge can be induced. The action however is taking place in the ring buffer. 3

If the ring buffer overflows because it is too small, unacknowledged entries remain in the alarm file. They are displayed during filtering but they cannot be acknowledged anymore. The attempt to acknowledge them can trigger the acknowledgement on the ring buffer if the alarms concern the same variable and the same limit violation. 4

The alarm function during runtime is done with a screen of the type Alarm. This screen must be created in the editor first. (You will find more information on the pre-defined screen types in the chapter 'Screens / Pre-defined screen types'.) Furthermore, the variables/limit violations in the properties(properties window) must be defined as alarms. So they can be entered into the alarm information list later during runtime. The Alarm information list (on page 2) is the online representation of the screen of the type Alarm. Here, all the alarms are listed and they can also be acknowledged, for example. The creation of the alarm screen is done by the definition of a new screen of the screen type Alarm. You will find more information on the pre-defined screen types in the chapter 'Screens / Pre-defined screen types'. After the screen is opened an empty screen is displayed. The default control elements can be inserted with the entry Control elements in the dropdown menu Alarm Message List Appearance You have the possibility to customize the look of the tab view of the Alarm Message List. By activating the Extended graphical settings property, you can define size and look of scroll bars, a header and a grid for the table with the help of the properties from group Scroll bars and Header and grid. In addition you can define whether you want the user to be able to manipulate the header. With this an individual customization of the look is possible in the Runtime: Move columns, change size and sorting order. You make the settings for this for the whole project in group Alarm Message list with the 5

property Header AML. There you can also define whether the header should be displayed at all or it should just be displayed but not be manipulated. Info You can prohibit the manipulation and/or the visibility of the header for each screen Alarm Message List by deactivating the property Show header or Make header editable for the tabular view. A preview of the scroll bars is available in the Editor. If option Scroll bars is activated, the scroll bars are displayed as preview. In this way details such as filling effects, styles and button size can be engineered more easily. The size of the scroll bar in the preview matches the size in the Runtime. The size of the whole list in the Editor may deviate from the size in the Runtime. This is also true for the size of the header and the font of the header. The preview is only there to facilitate the engineering of graphical effects Filter profiles Filter profiles are filter settings which can be saved by the user in the Runtime. In order to use the filter profiles there is a submenu Filter profiles in the menu Control elements with the following elements: Filter profiles Profile administration Profile selection Select saved profile (drop-down list) Save Save settings as profile (button) Delete Delete profile (button) Now the filter settings can be changed in the Runtime. Then any unique name for the defined settings can be entered in the element Profile selection. With the button Save the profile is saved permanently and is available in future sessions. 6

After having selected a profile that is no longer needed in the Profile selection it can be deleted with the button Delete. It is possible to adjust filter settings for the Chronological Event List in Runtime with the help of screen Alarm Message List Filter. The advantage of this type of screen is that only the filter elements that are actually necessary can be configured. Therefore the user does not need to get to grips with numerous filter settings. Only the filter settings that he needs are displayed. Furthermore, you are completely free to change the appearance and can, for example, ensure ease of use by means of a touch screen. In the Chronological Event List Filter screen, all filter settings which are available in the filter (on page 10) for the function to switch the screen to the Chronological Event List screen can be configured. 7

Info With the filter screens, it is generally possible to transfer the filters set from one screen to another. The source screen's filter is transferred to a target screen in the process. The screens can also be of a different screen type! The following requirements must be met for the set filters to be used: The screen (Alarm Information List Filter, Chronological Event List and Time Filter screens) are activated using a button or a combined element. Only in this way can the relationship between filter screen and source screen be maintained. The screen that is called by the filter screen must be compatible wit the filter screen to be called up. (see table) The source screen and filter screen must be configured on different frames or monitors. The filter for the filter screen can only be updated if the source screen is open. This is only possible if both screens do not use the same frame or the same monitor. Of one of these prerequisites is not met, the corresponding filter screen is is switched to the configured values. The Accept, Close, and Update buttons are grayed out and do not work. 13 Chronological Event List Z G X X: All settings are updated. G: Common settings are updated. Z: Time settings are updated. Info If the Calling Screen setting is not activated or if the screen is not called up via a screen element, the filter screen is activated with the settings configured in the editor. When a filter screen is called up (Alarm Message List filter, Chronological Event List filter, time filter), the screens configured in the screen switching function are updated in two ways: If the filter screen is called up via a screen element, the target screens on the same monitor as the source screen are updated. If the filter is called up in a different way or if the Update on all monitors setting is updated, all target screens configured are updated. They are updated as soon as you click the Accept button or as soon as you closes the filter screen with the close Close button. The Cancel button discards the changes and closes the filter screen. You update the current filter settings for the source screen using the Update button. If the filter screen is not called up by a screen element or if the Calling screen has not been activated, all monitors are searched for screens that can be used for updating. The first screen that is found is then this is used for updating. 9

Alarms are configured in project properties in Alarm Message List / Column setting (only Column settings (on page 19) tab) or when a screen is switched to an AML screen type (all tabs). The Settings for alarm administration dialog is opened General filter The following properties are available: Variable name Enter the name or part of the name of the variable you want to filter. You can use wildcard *. (Wildcards are only allowed as 10

prefix or suffix; e.g. *xxx or xxx*). Identification Enter the identification or part of the identification of the variable you want to filter. You can use wildcard *. (Wildcards are only allowed as prefix or suffix; e.g. *xxx or xxx*). Note capitalization If you activate this checkbox, the filter for variable names and/or variable identifications will be case-sensitive. only unacknowledged alarms Activate this check box if you only wish to have those alarms displayed that have not yet been acknowledged by the user. Only historical alarms Activate this checkbox if you only wish to have alarms displayed that are historical, i.e. their values are no longer in the critical range. Only current alarms Activate this checkbox if you only wish to have alarms displayed that are historical, i.e. their values are no longer in the critical range. Alarms must at least be active Define the minimum time for which an alarm must be active for it to be displayed using the spin controls for days, hour, min., sec., and ms. Ring buffer Activate this option if you want to view all entries which are in the ring buffer. Historic data Maximum number Activate this option and enter a number in order to view the corresponding number of entries from the ring buffer and to additionally view historic data. Show list without refresh If you activate this checkbox, no new entries are added to the list as long as you view the list. Show filter dialog in the Runtime If you activate this checkbox, the filter dialog is displayed each time the screen is called up in the Runtime. Alarm groups Select from the available alarm groups (technological allocation) the alarm groups from which you want to view alarms. 11

Alarm Classes Select from the available alarm classes (priority) the alarm classes from which you want to view alarms. Alarm areas Select from the available alarm areas (location) the alarm areas from which you want to view alarms. Attention Regarding zenon and Windows CE: On CE systems the filter dialog should only be opened with the filter button, if the resolution is higher than 800*600 pixels. Otherwise the dialog can not be displayed completely Time filter The time filters provide an easy possibility to limit the data to be displayed or exported. The time filters are very flexible to implement and can be pre-set in the editor or adjusted in Runtime. 12

The mechanisms described here apply when switching screens to Extended Trend, Archive revision, Report generator as well as when Exporting the Alarm Message List (on page 2), Chronological Even List and in the Report Generator. Time filtering can be carried out in two ways: 1. Using pre-configured times: The time filter is given in the editor and can be changed in Runtime as desired. 2. Use fixed time periods: A time period is given in the editor. It is only possible to filter according to this time period in Runtime. Further filters such as variable name, alarm groups and classes etc. can also not be changed in Runtime. 13

Time filter in the Runtime can be customized (use pre-engineered times) With this method, enter a fixed time period into the time filter, which is applied when the function is carried out in Runtime. If the function is a screen switching function, you can change the filter in the screen activated using the Filter button (screen-specific Filter function). You can already adjust the filter when executing the function in Runtime by using the Display filter dialog in Runtime option on the General tab. To be able to use this type of filter, you must select the Set filter at filter typeoption in the Time period selection drop-down list: After this, you have the following options available via Preconfigured times in the drop down list: Absolute period of time A fixed period of time is entered in the editor. When the function is executed, the defined absolute time period is exactly used. Example: You want to see all alarms from January to December Then you must enter the corresponding data at From and To. From Defines the start time in day, month, year, hour (HH), minute (MM), second (SS) To Defines the end time in day, month, year, hour (HH), minute (MM), second (SS) 14

Relative time period A relative time period is entered. this filter is constantly updated. It is therefore carried over. Example: You set up a relative time of 10 minutes and switch to an Alarm Message List Screen with this time filter at 12:00. Then you are shown the alarms from 11:50 to 12:00 when switching. If the Alarm Message List screen stays open, the filter is automatically updated. At 12:01, you see the alarms from 11:51-12:01 etc. Time Defines the relative period in days, hours (HH), minutes (MM) and seconds (SS) from HH:MM:SS o' clock A time from which the filter is effective is stated. If the time is not reached on the current day, filtering takes place from the corresponding time the previous day. Example: You enter 23:00:00. If it is then 23:30 when executing the function, then it is filtered from 23:00:00 up to the current point in time. If it is 22:30 however, then filtering takes place from 23:00:00 on the previous day to the current point in time. The start point of this filter is not updated automatically. Only the existing times are used when shown, even if the screen remains open and 23:00:00 is reached. The end time point is not defined with this filter, it is carried over. Time Defines the start time period in hours (HH), minutes (MM) and seconds (SS) From day - HH:MM:SS time A day and a time from which the filter is effective is given. If the time given has not been reached in the current month, the corresponding time from the previous month is used. Example: You enter day 5-23:00:00. If it is the 10th of the month at 23:30, then filtering takes place from the 5th of the month from 23:00:00 to the current time point. If, however, it is the 4th of the month, then filtering takes place from the 5th of the previous month to the current time point. The start time of this filter is not updated automatically. Only the existing times are used when shown, even if the screen remains open and 23:00:00 is reached. The end time point is not defined with this filter, it is carried over. Time Defines the start point in hours (HH), minutes (MM), seconds (SS) From day, month - HH:MM:SS time A month, a day and a time from which the filter is effective is given. If the time stated has not been reached in the current year, the corresponding time from the previous year is used. Example: You enter month October, day 5-23:00:00. If it is October 10th at 23:30, then filtering takes place from October 5th from 23:00:00 to the current time point. If, however, it is only October 4th, then filtering takes place from the 15

5th of the previous year to the current time point. The start point of this filter is not updated automatically. Only the existing times are used when shown, even if the screen remains open and 23:00 on October 5 is reached. The end time point is not defined with this filter, it is carried over. Time Defines the start point in months, days, hours (HH), minutes (MM), and seconds (SS) No time filter No time filter is used. Specify time area in the Editor With this method, enter a fixed time period into the editor, which is applied when the function is carried out in Runtime. If the function is a screen switching function, you can only change the start point of the set time period in the screen shown using the Filter button (Screen-specific Filter function). The time 16

period that can be set can no longer be changed in Runtime. Example: You set a 30 minute time filter. In Runtime, you can now only set when this 30 minute time period is to start. However, you cannot change the filter to a day filter. For these time filters, you have options available with which you can move the time period or change the time duration. These options can also no longer be changed in Runtime. By using the Display filter dialog in Runtime option on the General tab, you can already adjust the start time when executing the function in Runtime. If you do not have the filter displayed when the function is shown in Runtime, the current time period is always used. If you have activated the Use last closed time period, the previous time period is shown. Example: You have set a 30 minute filter. It is when the function is activated. If the Use last closed time period option is deactivated, the filter is set to the current time range 10:30:00 to 10:59:59. If the option is activated, the filter is set to the previous time range of 10:00:00 to 10:29:59. when using this type of filer, you can no longer adjust all filters that are set on the General tab in Runtime (filter according to variable name and identification, alarm groups and classes etc.)! To be able to use this type of filter, you must select an option in the Time period selection drop-down list: Description Set filter for filter type Activates the second type of filtering. See Time filter can be customized in Runtime (use pre-engineered times) (on page 14). One day A whole day is filtered: 00:00:00 to 23:59:59. One week A whole week is filtered: Monday 00:00:00 to Sunday 23:59:59. Two weeks Two whole weeks are filtered: Monday 00:00:00 of the first week to Sunday 23:59:59 of the second week. One month A whole month is filtered: The first of the month at 00:00:00 to the last day of the month at 23:59:59. One year A whole year is filtered: January 1 of the year at 00:00:00 to December 31 of the year at 23:59:59. 17

15 minutes A 15 minute time period is filtered. 30 minutes A 30 minute time period is filtered. 60 minutes A 60 minute time period is filtered. Relative time period For these filters, you must set the Display filter dialog in Runtime option on the General tab to active. if the option is not set, the time period in Runtime is set to 0. When carrying out the function, a dialog is displayed with which a relative time period in days, hours (HH), minutes (MM) and seconds (SS) can be given. the selected time period relates to the activation time. The filtered time period is then fixed. Example: It is 10:23:00 when calling the function. You set a relative time period of an hour. The filter is set to 9:23:00-10:23:00. Absolute period of time For these filters, you must set the Display filter dialog in Runtime option on the General tab to active. if the option is not set, the time period in Runtime is set to 0. When executing the function, a dialog is displayed with which an absolute period of time can be entered. In doing so, you set the start and end time in day, month, year, hour (HH), minute (MM), second (SS). Batches For these filters, you must set the Display filter dialog in Runtime option on the General tab to active. if the option is not set, the time period in Runtime is set to 0. When carrying out the function, a dialog is displayed with which you can select a batch. The time filter is then set to the time period of the batch. You can therefore filter according to all alarms or all CEL entries which occur in a batch, for example. : The filter only displays closed batches. The following settings are possible to adapt the time period in all time periods (except absolute and relative time period, as well as batches): Options Description Use last concluded time period If this option is not set, then the current time period is always used. The previous time period is displayed if the option is set. Example: You have set a 30 minute filter. It is when the function is activated. If the option is deactivated, the filter is set to the current time range of 10:30:00 AM to 10:59:59 AM. If the option is activated, 18

the filter is set to the previous time range of 10:00:00 to 10:29:59. Move time period back by If you enter a time here, the whole time period is moved back by the time given. The time period remains unaffected by this setting. Example: You have selected a 60 minute filter and enter a time of 5 minutes here. In Runtime, the filter is now now started at each whole hour, but always five minutes later, for example at 10:05:00, at 11:05:00 etc. Filtering takes place in 60 minute intervals as before, i.e. to 11:04:59, to 12:04:59 etc. Time Defines the time difference in hours (HH), minutes (MM) and seconds (SS) Change time period by If you enter a time here, the filtered time period is shortened or extended. Example: You have selected a 60 minute filter and enter a time of 5 minutes here. The Add time stated option is set. In Runtime Filters are no longer carried out for 60 minutes but for 65 minutes, i.e. from 10:00:00 to 11:04:59. Time Defines the time by which the time period is shortened or extended. in hours (HH), minutes (MM) and seconds (SS) Add time stated The selected time period is extended by the time stated Deduct time stated The selected time period is shortened by the time stated Column settings In this dialog you define which columns you want to display in what form, succession and sort order. All settings which you make in this tab are default settings for: Screen of type Alarm Message List Alarm Message List Screen Alarm status line 19

These default settings can be changed at the definition of each alarm function. In the list field of this tab all available column types are displayed. With the help of a checkbox you decide which column types are displayed. You can change the description and column width of each type of column by left clicking on the appropriate area. You can enter the desired value in the editing field that appears. for column descriptions, zenon language switching is available. Info For compatibility reasons, the columns, the width of which could not be changed in earlier zenon versions (date and time), have the value -1. If you do not change this value, the width of the column is calculated as before via the average character width. For the column types of Alarm class symbol, alarm group symbol and alarm status, you can choose between a Circle symbol and Graphics data using a drop-down list in the display column. You can change the sequence of the column types by dragging & dropping in the list field by first clicking in the Column type column and then the individual entries can be moved as desired. Alternatively, you can adjust the sequence with the Move selected entry up and Move selected entry down. 20

Info In project settings, you can set a default setting for the sequence and size of columns using the Column settings AML property or the Column settings CEL property. If you create a new function of the screen switching type from a screen of the alarm message list type or chronological event list type, this setting is used. The setting is stored in the project.ini file. You are shown the selected column types are shown in the preview field. You can also adjust the column widths by left clicking on the right end of a column, holding down the mouse button and moving the mouse to the left or right accordingly. Attention The column width is given in characters and is dependent on the font used. If the column width is not a multiple of the character width of the font used, this can lead to deviations with the actual column width, which would mean that it could lead to the text being cut off or an empty space being created. The use of proportional fonts such as Courier New solves this problem. Info If you have activated the automatic keyboard in Runtime, it is turned on when an editing field appears. You can use this to configure the columns if you are using a computer without a keyboard. Furthermore, the following settings are available: Display grid shows a grid when the list is displayed in Runtime. Use alternating background colors Uses color 1 and color 2 alternately as background colors for the list in Runtime. Color 1 Color that is used as a background color in in the list Runtime for all uneven numbers (1, 3, 5 etc.), if you have activated Alternating Background Colors. Color 2 Color that is used as a background color in in the list Runtime for all even numbers (2, 4, 6 etc.), if you have activated 21

Alternating Background Colors. Sort descending Sorts the entries in the Time received column in decreasing order. These settings apply for showing a screen. You can change the sorting order in Runtime by clicking on the column header. The sequence currently being used is displayed with an arrow pointing to the column header. Time Displays the time for a list entry in the following form: HH:MM:SS Date Displays the date for a list entry in the following form: TT:MM:YYYY milliseconds Expands the time entry by milliseconds Text filter Possible options for the text filter are: 22

No text filter The text filter is not used. Search for (words separated by spaces) The text filter is used. Further settings are unlocked. Input field Enter the corresponding words or character strings. Note capitalization Activate this checkbox if you want the filtering to be case sensitive. Words do not have to appear in the text in full Activate this checkbox if the expressions entered should then be considered if they only occur in the txt as part of a word. At least one word must be present in the text At least one word of the search string has to be in the text. All words must be present in the text All words of the search string have to be in the text but the order does not matter. Filter text must appear in the text exactly All words of the search string have to be in the text in the same order. 23

3.3.5 Status filter The status of the checkbox indicates if the status bit is to be evaluated. Black dot in a red background The status bit is not evaluated. 0 Only the entries where the status bit is set to false are displayed. 1 Only the entries where the status bit is set to true are displayed. Example If the checkbox SPONT is set to 1, only the alarms are shown that are triggered by spontaneous values are displayed. 24

3.3.6 Equipment modeling filter Equipment model provides models and groups for selection Add adds selected groups to the filter list Remove removes selected groups from the filter list Alarm groups, alarm classes and alarm areas serve the logical grouping of alarms and allow a prioritization. 25

You can only select binary variables. Group active (=1) / Group inactive (=0) The status of this group is logged in the Chronological event list (CEL). Button '...' opens the dialog for variable selection. Function Function of the alarm class. Selection of a user-defined function which on activation of the alarm group is to be executed by an alarm status, e.g. priority-based setting of the PIO8 outputs for external alarming devices (horn, gong, running lights, etc.) This function is executed automatically if an alarm of this class occurs. Button '...' opens the dialog for function selection. Graphics file Link an alarm class to a graphics file. You can have this file displayed to you in Runtime in the Alarm Information List. To do this, in the filter for the AML in the Column settings tab, select the Graphics file display type for the alarm group symbol column. In the AIL, the column height is aligned to the selected font; for this reason, the graphics selected are scaled if necessary and adjusted to suit the column height. Equipment Groups Define the membership of an equipment group. Left-clicking on the button opens a dialog, in which you select the desired equipment group. If an alarm class is to be deleted, a query message is displayed. If the query is confirmed, the alarm class is deleted. All linked variables lose their class assignment. 36 Example Buttons are inserted in a screen. If an alarm from a certain alarm area is violated, the button starts flashing. An alarm area is a group of objects. To simplify matters, these are combined in a screen. e.g.: Transformer station A. e.g.: 20 (Transformer station A - Transformer station T). If you are in an overview screen and an alarm occurs in one transformer station, the button switching to this transformer station starts flashing, because all 20 variables of the alarm areas transformer station are linked here. In the next screen there are four buttons switching to the subgroups transformer stations (A-E, F-J, K-O, P-T) In this screen there are the single buttons switching to the single transformer stations. Here the button switching to transformer station A is flashing. Alarm areas detail view of toolbar and context menu New alarm area Inserts a new alarm area into the list. Copy Copies selected entries to the clipboard. Paste Pastes the contents of the clipboard. If an entry with the same name already exists, the content is pasted as "Copy of". 38 The... button opens the dialog to select variables. no. Number of the alarm area, as specified by the system. Here you create a list of alarm areas. Each alarm area contains a list of alarm classes. 3 variables can be linked to each alarm class. 1 Warning Status_warn_1 Active_warn_1 Unackn_warn_1 Disturbanc e Status_error_1 Active_error_1 Unackn_error_1 2 Warning Status_warn_2 Active_warn_2 Unackn_warn_2 Error Status_error_2 Active_error_2 Unackn_error_2 Three variables can be linked to each combination alarm area/alarm class. Status variable (BYTE), which specifies with a bit pattern, whether alarms are active or unacknowledged: 0 1=active alarms 0=no active alarms 1 1=unacknowledged alarms 0=no unacknowledged alarms Number of active alarms (INT or similar) Number of unacknowledged alarms (INT or similar) Attention For an alarm to be displayed in the selected alarm area, edit the properties of the corresponding variable. Select the corresponding alarm area and alarm treatment. Creating alarm areas Here the configuration of the alarm areas is defined. 34

Configuration Here the configuration of the single alarm areas is defined. Variable link to classes Here the variable is linked to single classes. The behavior in the Runtime Monitoring received/cleared events of variables as well as acknowledgement and updating variables according to the defined links. 35

4.1.1 Alarm-connection: Activate Alarm administration will be activated during Runtime. No transfer parameters are needed Alarm-connection: activate/deactivate In the Runtime the alarm administration is toggled between active and inactive. No transfer parameters are needed Alarm-connection: inactivate Alarm administration will be deactivated during Runtime. No transfer parameters are needed Alarms: ackn. flashing In addition to acknowledging alarms (on page 37) from the alarm list, the displays can be acknowledged by frame when an alarm is issued. When this function is active during the Runtime, only the flashing attribute of the variables and the flashing of the graphical elements will be reset. Acknowledging in the screen does not acknowledge the alarm in the list. 36

Give the frame as a transfer parameter This function is configured via an input dialog. Give the frame name in the function administration after the system function as the transfer parameter (e.g.: ALARMS: ACKN. FLASHING [PROCESSIMAGE]). Info A screen acknowledgement acknowledges the alarms in the list, if the option Acknowledge flashing also acknowledges alarm is set in the alarm configuration. The acknowledgement in the alarm list or on the alarm line at the upper screen edge acknowledges the alarm also in the screen and screen alarm guidance Alarms: Acknowledge For the information "acknowledged" to be displayed in the AML, the following must apply: 1. property To acknowledge must be activated 2. the alarm must be acknowledged Alarms can be acknowledged via: double right-click on the alarm status bar 37

double right-click on an entry in the Alarm Message List Function Acknowledge alarms At acknowledging all alarms with the same limit of a variable are acknowledged together. Alarms are saved in the ring buffer up to when they are acknowledged. At the same time they are written to a filterable alarm file (*.aml) and kept synchronized. Property Size of the ringbuffer must be chosen appropriately. If alarms are no longer saved in the ring buffer due to a buffer overflow, unacknowledged alarms remain in the alarm file. For details see chapter Alarm Message List (AML) (on page 2). ACKNOWLEDGE ALARMS Additionally to acknowledging alarms in the Alarm Message List, this function offers the possibility to globally acknowledge alarms. When executing this function in the Runtime, also the flashing attribute of the variables and therefore screen alarming (only SICAM 230) will be reset. The selected alarms are acknowledged. For transfer parameters see chapter Alarm engineering with filters (on page 10). When acknowledging an alarm: Name and ID of the user who deletes the alarm are written in the Alarm Message List the name of the computer from which the alarm was acknowledged is written in the Alarm Message List acknowledging the alarm can be written in the Chronological Event List additionally Info You can assign functions Acknowledge alarms and Delete alarms (on page 39) at Function authorization to a user group. Only authorized user can acknowledge and delete alarms. In addition another user right for deleting an alarm can be assigned via option To delete. This means: selected alarms can only be removed from the Alarm Message List by users with the necessary rights. 38

4.1.6 Alarms: delete In order to delete an alarm either the function Delete alarm must be executed or button Delete in the screen of type alarm must be pressed during the Runtime. Alarms can only be deleted, if they have been acknowledged before. If for Limits property To delete was set, alarms are removed from the list of active alarms when they are deleted. Acknowledging the alarms is not enough. Info You can assign functions Acknowledge alarms (on page 37) and Delete alarms (on page 39) at Function authorization to a user group. Only authorized user can acknowledge and delete alarms. In addition another user right for deleting an alarm can be assigned via option To delete. This means: selected alarms can only be removed from the Alarm Message List by users with the necessary rights Alarms / Groups / Classes With the function Alarms/Groups/Classes all alarms or all alarms of a specific group or class can be activated or deactivated The possible parameters for this function are the selected group or class of alarms. If neither a group nor a class is selected the function refers to the whole alarm management. (e.g. Alarms/Groups/Classes (Group1 toggle) ) 39

You also have to chose whether the function should activate, deactivate or toggle the selected alarms Alarms: Activate/deactivate alarm group connection Variables of the selected alarm group are not polled from the driver as long as the alarm group is disconnected, in order to increase the performance of the connection between driver and PLC. The number of the alarm group and Connect or Disconnect have to be entered as parameters. Create an alarm group bit in the PLC. If this Bit is activated, function Alarm group active is called via the limit administration. So the variables are requested and the according limits in zenon are incited. The bit can be reset in the PLC, and with a limit violation the alarm group is switched inactive again. On program start all limit variables are polled Alarms: Save AIL and CEL memory buffer By means of this function Alarm List and Chronologic Event List as well as the values of mathematical variables (counters) can be saved on Windows CE-Terminals. The size of the lists can be modified via the configuration. Data are stored in the following files: ALARM.BIN Saved alarms CEL.BIN Saved entries of the chronologic events list 40

SY_MA32.BIN Saved values of mathematical variables (e.g. counters) Print alarm- or CEL-list This function is used to output the stored information (alarms or CEL) to a printer as a closed printing job (e.g. unmanned substations without direct online printing) with filter criteria in the Runtime. Give the list (AML, CEL), the filters and the time are as the transfer parameters This function is configured via an input dialog. Configurable options are: List selection of alarm or CEL Filter defines filter criterion Time define time period with time format and type Font Select font for printing The filter criteria are configured after the list is selected. Line structure for logging variants 41

The keywords which are available for the formatting file (ALAR_G.FRM, BTB_G.FRM) and its standard structure are described in the Appendix. Configuration is described in Configuration of the alarm and CEL filters and Configuration of the time filter Export alarms This function is used to write the alarms which have been stored with filter criteria into a file in the Runtime. Provide the file parameters, the filter and the time as the transfer parameters. This function is configured via an input dialog. 42

Configurable options are: File name permanently assigned name of export file; any existing files will be overwritten (only when the option Generate file name automatically is not set) Generate file name automatically Active: The file name will be generated automatically from a short identifier, a user identifier and a day key. Inactive: The user has to enter the file name under Name of export file. Name AJJMMTTK.XXX A alarm list short identifier K KK - user identifier (e.g. EL for electric) JJMMTT year, month, day XXX file extension (TXT, DBF, XML) Identification user-definable identifier (dbase - 1 character; ASCII and XML - 32 Characters) (e.g. alarm export) Do not use special characters! Example display of complete file name Format defines file type - dbase DBaseIV format (*.dbf) Here only file names not longer than 8 characters are allowed. ASCII ASCII text format (*.txt) XML XML-format (*.xml) As Unicode The export to ASCII format is done in Unicode Set path Display of the defined export path (project properties) Filter defines filter criterion Time define time period with time format and type 43

The format of the list entries is taken from the alarm list settings (Alarm Configuration... - Entry in the list) A semicolon - ; - is used as a column separator. The storage path is defined in the project properties / Runtime settings / data directory. Configuration is described in Configuration of the alarm and CEL filters and Configuration of the time filter. See chapterconfiguring the alarm (on page 10) and CEL filter and Configuring the time filter (on page 12) Create online-protocol This function is used to control online printing of the alarm or chronologic event list in the Runtime. The configured footer will be printed onto the current page of the printout, and then the printout will advance to the beginning of a new page. The page counter will be set back to 1 and the header will be printed out. This makes it possible to easily change the day of the protocol printouts (e.g. 6:00 a.m.). No transfer parameters are needed Switch online-printing on/off This function is used to set online printing (e.g. for unmanned stations) to a processing status (switch on, switch off, active/inactive). Give the processing status as the transfer parameter This function is configured via an input dialog. 44

Switch online printer With this function the printer for online printing can be changed in the Runtime. The option "Show dialog in Runtime" allows the selection of a printer in the Runtime. The filters can be preconfigured in the Editor for activating a screen of the screen type Alarms (on page 50) (predefined selective alarm information lists with time, class and group). The filter variables can be changed during online operation. Configurable options are: 45

Filter defines filter criterion Time define time period with time format and type Text Defining the text filter Entry in the list Selection of the columns to be displayed 46

On activating the Alarm Message List in online operation, the displays (screen editor) defined in the editor and the transfer parameters (user-defined function) are taken into account. The creation of technologic or priority-oriented lists is possible. Various control elements can be used for operating the Alarm Message Lists and the displays. Possible options are: Default drawing several elements in a pre-defined status into the screen Display active Status of the alarm management (active/ passive) Number of the displayed (filtered out) alarms Acknowledge buttons Acknowledge alarms in online operation - Selected Alarm selected in the list are acknowledged - Page All alarms displayed on the current page are acknowledged 47

- All All alarms for the current filter criteria are acknowledged In case of a multi-user project (see chapter Distributed Engineering) only the alarms of the project for which the user is authorized are acknowledged. Delete buttons Delete acknowledged alarms in online operation from the alarm information list - Selected Alarm selected in the list are deleted - Page All alarms displayed on the current page are deleted. - All All alarms for the current filter criteria are deleted Function button Selection of the function execution in online operation; for the function "Execute program", the variable name of the selected alarm can be passed on to the program to be executed as a parameter with the keyword "@alarm.name" Function display Display of the function assigned to the alarm information Filter button Opening of the filter mask Filter display Display of the current filter conditions Reaction text Comment text which can be output in online operation for each alarm information; the text can be displayed in the list (option "Reaction text" in the list definition of the alarm configuration) Button List operation (new entries are automatically added to the list or not) - Stop - Continue Close button Close alarm information list Alarm Message List Display window of the Alarm Message List Button print Print filtered list Button Print dialog Printer settings Buttons List operation - Line up Scroll text in list element up - Line down Scroll text in list element down 48

Offered functions are: acknowledging, deleting, changing filter, printing, function execution, page up and down, line up and down, stop and continue. The configuration of the acknowledging and/or deletion obligation is made in the configuration of the variables (see Chapter on Process data model and variable definition). The acknowledging resets the flashing attribute of the variables. The deletion of an entry can only be made with a prior acknowledgment of a gone alarm event. Alarms in the Alarm Message List can have three states: 1 Not cleared 2 Not acknowledged 3 Not deleted Info The variables for not acknowledged alarms, acknowledged alarms and number of alarms is stored in a local list in the memory. See variable 'Not acknowledged alarms' in the chapter Definition of the alarm (on page 49

10) and CEL filters. The creation of the alarm list screen is done by defining a new screen of the screen type Alarm. (You will find more information on the pre-defined screen types in the chapter 'Screens / Pre-defined screen types'.) On opening the screen an empty screen is opened and the Drop-down list Control elements in the menu line is filled. The single control elements are explained in the chapter "Alarming". With the help of the control elements you can arrange the individual online operating elements in the screen (overall display; in the editor there is only a two-dimensional display). By pressing the command Default in the menu Control elements all control elements (without buttons for list scrolling) are loaded with standard values at predefined positions. 50
