1 Germination Germination makes good ideas happen. Take an idea, give it an airing, prune it and help it mature into a beautiful thing. Germination is a creative production company. We engage audiences through fresh events that connect culture, technology, and social issues. Digital media, film, music and performance are our tools. We are commissioned by our clients to distill their campaigns into live events that stimulate audiences. We also work with other producers to help them evaluate their projects, and are at the forefront of research in the cultural and creative sector. Today, Germination has programmed the creative elements you will experience at the event. For further information visit LIVE Magazine LIVE is a magazine written, illustrated, produced and distributed by the young people of south London. The magazine's primary aim is to communicate positive messages and information by young people to their peers. Key to the whole process is that all LIVE's contributors are aged 21 or under, and the young people retain strict editorial independence. All the young people are mentored and supported by an in-house team of journalists, as well as voluntary professionals from a wide-range of publications. 2 Lynk Reach Lynk Reach forges partnerships in the education, arts, community and health sectors with the aim of raising achievement, particularly of Black and Minority Ethnic communities. The organisation acts as a link between organisations to enable them to widen their networks, initiate innovative projects and enrich existing projects. Our activities include co-ordinating arts in education projects, training, development and events management. Lynk Reach organises the London Teenage Poetry SLAM, a Spoken Word Poetry project aimed at engaging a diverse range of pupils. Some of our young star slam poets will be performing at today's event, joined by the programme's artistic director, Jacob Sam-La Rose. Red Kite Learning believes in equipping people with the knowledge and skills to fulfil their potential. 3 Storymakers TV Storymakers TV was set up with the aim of producing quality films, working with writers and directors in the delivery of gripping fiction and documentaries relevant to a fast moving, fast changing world. Storymakers TV works with children, young people and vulnerable adults from deprived communities. We are focused in the delivery of quality vocational courses in film production. Alongside to this, we also produce consultation films on a number of key areas, such as the environment, the arts, community safety and mental health, to name a few. Our clients include the Arts Council England, Recycle Western Riverside, Youth Offending Team, Southwark Outreach Services and a number of productions companies. Our courses are specialised in the writing and making of fiction, couching young people through the process of writing a script, working with professional actors and non-actors, engaging them with all stages of the production process. Our courses not only provide artistic and technical skills, but also and most importantly provide life skills through the building of confidence, improved literacy skills and team building. 4 Unicorn Theatre The Unicorn creates inspiring and entertaining theatre for children. As the UK's flagship producer of professional theatre for children, Unicorn's mission is to create outstanding professional productions that embrace and reflect the rich cultural diversity of London and beyond. The Unicorn aims to be a beacon for regional, national and international theatre excellence and to reach out to all children including those who would never otherwise experience theatre. Their programme of productions, education projects, participatory work and other activities enrich children's learning. They broaden and deepen children s experience across the curriculum; support linguistic development and literacy and cultivate imagination, empathy, self confidence and emotional literacy. The Unicorn trains artists to think like teachers and teachers to think like artists and aims to create a bridge between both worlds. They are committed to making theatre as accessible as possible. 5 Supporters Government Office London (GOL) Government Office London (GOL) Children s Services Month London Children s Services Month is part of the Young London Matters strategy, taking forward the Every Child Matters, Change for Children Agenda and is jointly led by GOL, the GLA and London Councils and supported by the Association of London Directors of Children s Services. The month provides opportunities for peers and stakeholders across the region to get together and celebrate the excellent work taking place to improve the lives of children and young people across the Capital and share emerging and effective good practice. London Children s Services Month is a programme of different events to promote and highlight good practice by London s local authorities in Children s Services. The moth culminates in an awards event, celebrating the region s biggest achievements in providing services for young Londoners. DfES London Challenge in other areas. London Challenge is a five-year partnership between Government, schools and boroughs to raise educational standards in London s secondary school system. It aims to improve the educational opportunities for London s young people and make London a world leader in education, as it is

6 The Challenge has three levels: pan-london resources and programmes available to all schools. Creative Services Summit Keys to Success provide individualised support to about 70 of the most disadvantaged schools. intensive work with five key London boroughs (Hackney, Islington, Haringey, Southwark and Lambeth) to help them reform their secondary school provision. The Challenge focuses on all aspects of the school system: teachers, students, leaders, and school buildings and environment.
