2 Summary What makes us breathe? Everything we do is focussed around building a system that helps you escape the admin of managing your people. Reliability and security are critical to the success of our system so we invest heavily to deliver the best service possible. There are three elements to delivering a secure and reliable system: Our people The system The infrastructure Our people breathehr is a service managed by Centurion Management System Limited who have been implementing HR systems for over 15 years. Our founders have worked on HR software projects of all sizes and understand how important it is to keep your employee information safe. We are registered with the Information Commissioner s Office (ICO) for the purpose of handling your confidential data within the UK. Strict data handling procedures ensure our staff don t have visibility of passwords and access beyond their ability to support your system. We do not undertake any work involving your data without your permission and hold no responsibility for the maintenance and content of your data. Our internal processes are regularly audited in line with current legislation and the breathehr terms and conditions. The system The breathehr software is developed by a team of expert developers. We use the tried and tested web development language of Ruby and the whole system sits on the MYSQL database. These tools have been optimised for delivering easy to use and secure applications over the web and allow us to respond quickly to your needs by constantly updating breathehr and ensuring it performs as well tomorrow as it does today. For our credit card payments we use RealEx Payments and FirstData Merchant solutions who are both leading providers of card processing services in the UK. Their highly secure systems ensure that your card data is always safe and no card information is held on our servers.

3 The infrastructure We outsource our infrastructure to CatN and breathehr is hosted in their Hampshire Data Centre. CatN are totally focused on managing hosting solutions and our relationship with them ensures we get fast responses to issues by experienced technical support people. As you would expect from a dedicated hosting company the infrastructure that breathehr uses is more advanced than many companies are able to provide for their own servers. The following gives you an overview: Data centre the bit behind the scenes that keeps your data safe. Backup Generators The CatN data centre is protected against power failures by a generator that kicks in after 3 minutes to ensure that your system stays available. UPS In order to provide stable system the CatN data centre is protected by two UPS's (Uninterruptible power supply), that continue to provide power to the data centre, in the case of a power failure or isolation from... Substation Due to the high demand of the CatN data centre the electrical supply from the power grid has been increased. Physical Security Physical security is taken seriously so the whole data centre is protected by highly secure locks, PIR and movement sensors. Fire Suppression The hardware is protected by state of the art fire sensors and suppression equipment.

4 CCTV CatN employs CCTV cameras to cover all aspects of their data centre, access points and offices. Automatic Lighting The entire building is equipped with a Control4 lighting system which is fully integrated with the alarm and light switches. The lighting can be controlled remotely and used in conjunction with the CCTV system to allow a view of any part of the building centre in full light from any location at any time of the day. Audits Regular internal audits check the effectiveness of the systems and encourage continuous improvement. Infrastructure the tech bit (with English translations) Load Balancers The CatN platform uses four dedicated servers to balance load across the static and dynamic content web server tiers. It spreads the work so no one part is overloaded. Access Server The dedicated access servers sole purpose is to monitor, log and allow/deny access for a customer to their vcluster. This is the single point of entry to the CatN stack through their firewall/edge servers so is heavily monitored and secured. A viscous gate keeper. Off-Site Backups All your data is backed up every night to an Amazon S3 storage bucket, which is also stored in a cloud environment, adding redundancy. Your data is backed up and stored in a very safe place.

5 RAID 10 CatN uses RAID10 to improve the reliability and replicate data across multiple disks. This protects our system and therefore your data, We take lots of copies of everything just in case. Network breathehr is well connected thanks to CatN s network. Linx (The London INternet exchange) CatN is connected to Telehouse North via a high speed fibre optic connection allowing them to exchange data directly with other ISP's like Virgin and Sky BGP Peers A fibre optic line to London Tele House North connected CatN to the high speed network in 2009 and gives two redundant transit providers so if one provider goes down your system remains live.

6 Environment Monitoring to make sure your system runs 24/7. Weather Station Temperature and humidity are measured by independent sensors. Coolant Monitoring The pressure of the water used in the cooling system for the CatN data centre is monitored closely and the system administrators are alerted via and SMS. Power Monitoring CatN air-con power consumption is linked closely with coolant temperature and it is easy to spot correlation between the two graphs. Data Centre Temperatures The temperature of all key components in the Data Centre are constantly monitored.
