3 1 Installation types and rmation Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installation Manual Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 can either be installed as a stand-alone solution for one PC or as network solution with clients and a server. In case data should be available on more than one PC a network installation is required. 1.1 Stand-alone system with local database For single-pc solutions MediConnect 2 and the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database have to be installed on the same PC. Network connections are not required as the user can only work on this single PC with MediConnect Network installation with a common database and jobs Network configurations require the installation of MediConnect 2, the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and the MediConnect 2 services on the server. For the workstations only MediConnect 2 will be installed. The workstations access the central database on the server. Services like the MediConnect 2 DICOM Server run on the central server. 1.3 The Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Database MediConnect 2 requires a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (R2). The MediConnect 2 installation includes the Microsoft.NET 3.5 Framework as well as the free Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition. Since the Express Edition has some restrictions we recommend the use of a full Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition). For further information kindly refer to Microsoft. 3

4 2 Installation process 2.1 New installation of MediConnect 2 incl. Database In order to install MediConnect 2 as a single Workstation the use of the Setup routine is recommended. The following components are included: Microsoft.NET 3.5 Framework SP1 (optional) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (optional) Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Service Manager (optional) Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 DICOM Server (optional) Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 HL7 Service (optional) Third party components like the.net Framework 3.5 SP1 may require a reboot after installation. For installations on Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7 and User Account Control enabled, MediConnect 2 Setup has to be installed with administrator rights: The setup wizard will guide users through the following steps: Depending on the OS and System settings it might be required to confirm the execution of the Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Setup individually. 4

5 The Setup is extracting the file to a temporary folder. This process may take some minutes. The setup Wizard will start automatically. Select the Setup language. This selection applies only to the installation and not to the language used in MediConnect 2. Confirm the License Agreement. Please select the Installation type Workstation: Single Workstation (Software and local database). Server: Server Software, Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Services and Database. Client: Local MediConnect 2 Client for connection to remote database. 5

6 Client with offline mode: Local MediConnect 2 Client for connection to remote database and with local database for offline mode. In addition the Microsoft SQL Server Instance name can be defined. It is recommended to use the default name MEDICONNECT. Please select additional components Pacer/ICD Client: This option adds the interface for the Pacer/ICD import. It requires approx. 300 MB Hard disc memory and needs to be installed at any client that is used to import pacer data. Medtronic CareLink Service: The Medtronic CareLink Service is a windows service that is used to connect the Medtronic CareLink Server and download the examination events. It is only required if a CareLink interface should be implemented (one PC in a network, usually the server directly). HL7-Service: The HL7 Service is a Windows service that manages the HL7 communication. It is only required at server side and if HL7 is used. 6

7 Please select the installation folder. If MediConnect 2 is already installed the installer automatically suggests the existing folder. In case the specified Microsoft SQL Server Instance cannot be found by MediConnect 2 and in the previous dialog Workstation, Server or Client with offline mode was selected the setup asks to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition. Confirm if the default database should be installed and used. Optional Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express installation: In case the Setup needs to install the Database the following steps in the Microsoft SQL Server installation wizard have to be confirmed. Confirm the license agreement and continue with Next. Optional Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express installation: 7

10 After the installation of the Microsoft SQL Server a restart is required. 2.2 MediConnect 2 network installation For a network installation the following steps are recommended: 1. Installation of the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 This step is optional, since MediConnect 2 Setup provides the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition. All other editions of the SQL Server have to be installed manually. Kindly refer for further details to chapter Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte nicht gefunden werden.. Installation of the MediConnect 2 Server MediConnect 2 has to be installed as the server mode to prepare the Database and MediConnect 2 Service ready for MediConnect 2 Clients. Please select Server in the Setup-Wizard. Please refer to chapter 2.1 New installation of MediConnect 2 for details. 3. Installation of MediConnect 2 on clients MediConnect 2 has to be installed on each client. Please refer to chapter 2.1 New installation of MediConnect 2 for details. The order of the above steps has also to be used in case of a Software Update 10

11 2.3 Update of single Workstation installation of MediConnect 2 Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installation Manual Before the update a database backup is highly recommended. At a single workstation installation the update setup can be directly run on the workstation. Please follow the setup. Please confirm the de-installation of the previous MediConnect 2 version. Local settings will be kept. Start the de-installation process. 11

12 After successful de-installation the installation of the new version can be started. Confirm the License Agreement. Select the installation type Workstation: Single Workstation (MediConnect 2 and local database). Server: MediConnect 2, MediConnect 2 Services and database. Client: Local MediConnect 2 Client for connection to remote database. Client with offline mode: Local MediConnect 2 Client for connection to remote database with local Database for offline mode. By default the previous installation type is selected. 12

14 After the update MediConnect 2 can directly be executed. After the Update MediConnect 2 should be started in order to complete the update process: During Login the MediConnect 2 Client is checking the Database version. The Client shows the new Version and the user needs to confirm the update process. In case the question catalog has been changed during the update the user is asked to select a third user language. German and English are automatically imported as default languages. 14

15 2.4 Update of a MediConnect 2 network installation Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installation Manual Before the update a database backup is highly recommended. 1. Update of MediConnect 2 on the server The first step ist o install MediConnect 2 (Setup) on the server. Kindly refer to the description under Update of single Workstation installation of MediConnect 2. Here server must be chosen as installation type. Start MediConnect 2 at server side to update the database MediConnect 2 requires read / write rights in the Folder \Program files\mediconnect\. It can happen that the Clients need to be run as administrator. 3. Publish MediConnect 2 Setup file The currently used setup file can be stored and published for the available clients. This allows an automatic update process for the clients at the next login. Alternative the setup could also be run directly at client side as described under Update of single Workstation installation of MediConnect 2 ) Publish Setup files: Under Settings -> Setup -> MediConnect 2 Update the user need to press edit (1) and select the correct setup file (2). A dialog is shown with the details to confirm the setup file by pressing OK (3). Save (4) is storing the file in the database. The stored file can now be used for auto-update of the clients 15

16 4. Update Clients In order to update the MediConnect 2 software on the local clients MediConnect 2 needs to be started and login to the Server. If the local version does not match with the database version of MediConnect 2 the user is asked to run the update process using the previously stored setup file. If the setup file of the current (database) version is not available for the client following error message is shown: 2.5 Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installer options The Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installer can run in silent mode. Use the argument /S in ordert o run silent mode. e.g.: C:\Fleischhacker.MediConnect-Setup v exe /S 16

17 3 MediConnect 2 configuration Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installation Manual After the installation has been completed, the MediConnect 2 Client needs to be configured in order to start properly and connect to the correct database. 3.1 Start parameter The MediConnect 2 executable supports some arguments: Handover of Username and Password for an automatic login Parameter 1 starts MediConnect 2 minimized in the systemtray. 18 3.2 Connection settings Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 Installation Manual In order to establish a connection to the (remote) database the connection settings has to be configured. The connection settings are stored locally for each windows user separately. 19 3.3 MediConnect 2 Logins During the Database creation 2 default user are added: Default The user default hast normal user rights and belongs to the user group user. He has no access to administrative functions. Login: Password: default default MC2 The MC2 user has Admin rights. He has access to all functions of MediConnect 2 including administration. He belongs to the user group Global Admin. Login: mc2 Password: MC2_admin (formerly mc2) 4 Included files and updates The Fleischhacker MediConnect 2 installer includes a number of third party tools and updates. Depending on the system environment the Setup automatically installs missing tools and updates. The company Fleischhacker accepts no liability in the event that the installation of these third-party products causes of some kind of damage occurs one.
