There will be an emphasis on the practical, and classes will be taught using a blended-delivery method that includes lectures and panel discussions. In the morning, expert counsel will conduct demonstrations of an examination in chief of a plaintiff and a cross-examination of a defendant in a personal injury file. In addition, there will be a demonstration in which plaintiff s counsel will argue to include a piece of evidence that defence counsel does not want admitted. The demonstration will be presided over by a judge, who will give a ruling at the conclusion of the demonstration. Finally, you will be able to make use of the skills you have learned over the course of the Certificate in two separate workshops. Using the case file that you received at the end of Module 4, you will be divided into small groups and asked to conduct an examination in chief of a plaintiff and a cross-examination of a defendant.
