1 MBA Selective courses - Flexible education for present and future specialists and generalists - Description of selective modules in Process Manufacturing and Enterprise Management (The full MBA is presently offered in Danish.) Introduction These selective courses are developed based on a strong wish from management and employees of European businesses, who to an increasing extent demand flexible management training at a high professional level. We have listened to this and have initiated the creation of an entire MBA that leaves room for family considerations as well as career opportunities, and at the same time is focused on a high academic level. To ensure that the education reflects actual market demands at any given time, we have appointed an Advisory Board on which representatives from leading businesses act as sparring partners to the education s management. ERP-system modules at MBA level A number of ERP-system modules are offered during the course. The ERP-system modules can be completed as single subjects. All modules are completed by examinations and diplomas are issued. The modules will be offered continuously. The instructors will have extensive practical experience from trade and industry. Six modules have been planned, covering various parts of a complete implementation process. Each part illustrates an important issue, which demands considerable resources, according to business experience. Additionally, the implementation will often start from scratch, although much experience is available in this field. Consequently, it is of great value to collect and pass on this experience progressively. The ERP-system modules are: 1. Business Scoping & Master Data Validation with ERP-systems (The module will be offered in the Autumn of 2007) 2. Corporate Supply Chain Process Manufacturing & Quality Control (The module will be offered in the Autumn of 2007) 3. Implementation models & resource mobilization (The module is expected to be offered in the Spring of 2008) 4. Product Life Cycle Management (The module is expected to be offered in the Spring of 2008) 5. Right Sizing the IT environment (The module is expected to be offered in the Autumn of 2008) 6. The Automation Pyramid (The module is expected to be offered in the Autumn of 2008) 1

2 All of these modules have been pre-approved for possible acceptance to the Danish MBA. In the following, each of the six modules will be described in detail. This MBA is a good example of successful cooperation between educational institutions and the corporate world. It fulfils the need for a flexible management education, which targets ambitious business people. The combination of elective courses in ERP system knowledge within process manufacturing, and the business understanding obtained in the other courses, provides the student with a solid professional base, which is valuable in the daily work with strategic as well as operational system development. Klaus Holse Andersen, Corporate Vice President (Global Sale of Business Applications), Microsoft Business Scoping & Master Data Validation with ERP-systems (The module will be offered in the Autumn of 2007) This module is concerned with methodologies and techniques to provide a proper platform for an ERP implementation through BPR pre-studies, ERP pre-studies and the calculations of return-oninvestment. Recent research reports that up to 90% of all BPR or IT projects fail to meet their goals. Among these projects 80% were late and over-budget and 40% were abandoned. This failure is attributed primarily to the inadequacies in treating organisational issues, rather than the technology problem. This reminds us that the application of information technology is not just to automate. The real value of information technology depends on its use in redesigning the business processes and organisations. Thus, this module more specifically focuses on: How to identify the current system infrastructure, integration and disintegration and processes How to analyse the current and future quality level of master data management How to conduct a BPR pre-study (where are the saving potentials and how to change) How to execute a BPR project along with an ERP project How to align the goals for the BPR project with the configured Microsoft Dynamics AX for the Process and Life Science system How to determine the return on investment (ROI) of the combined Microsoft Dynamics AX and NAV for the Process and Life Science Industry and BPR project 2

3 Corporate Supply Chain Process Manufacturing & Quality Control (The module will be offered in the Autumn of 2007) This module s main goal is to demonstrate the main process flows and operating procedures in GMP and non-gmp process industries. Microsoft Dynamics AX offers a comprehensive set of solutions for the batch/lot managed products within Procurement, Pilot & Up-scaling, Volume Production, Contract Manufacturing, Logistics, Storage and Labelling, Cleaning/Waste Handling, Distribution, Documentation Management, Quality Analysis and Quality Control. The concepts and software are designed to comply with the EU GMP Guide, USA CFR & GMP guide including CFR 21 part 11 regarding electronic signature and Food and Cosmetics guidelines. The module includes examples on how vital third-party software with more specific functionality within the industries, i.e. MES Systems, LIMS systems, RFID and scanners covers the complete material, resource and information flow. 4 Implementation models & resource mobilization (The module is expected to be offered in the Spring of 2008) This course consists of a GAMP4 (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice) part and a train the trainer part. The GAMP4 part of this module provides an overview of the industry guidelines in GAMP published by ISPE. ISPE is short for the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering and is a global, non-profit membership organization that provides education, training, and technical publications to pharmaceutical manufacturing professionals. A central element in this part is an understanding of the V-model in order to be in compliance with regulations when developing, testing and implementing computer-based IT-systems. The Train the Trainer part of this module focuses on the whole project organization for implementation and the following operation phase. What are the roles and responsibilities of the project manager, the project participants and the steering group? What should the functional department managers expect during and after implementation, and what can be done in order to prepare them in the best possible way? More specifically this part will address: How to educate the entire project team (the project organization, functional managers and end users) in ERP-systems + project model The persons responsible for end-user education must be educated to do it properly + test Preparation of education plans Understand laws and regulations, e.g. CFR 21 part 210 & 211 & 820, CFR 21 part 11 (electronic signature) and EU directives in article 16 75/319/EØF and article 24 directive 81/851/EØF Product Life Cycle Management (The module is expected to be offered in the Spring of 2008) The module concerns the management of product related master data from cradle to grave. How do we secure that we operate with updated master data from different versions of for example bill-of materials and approved vendors? During the module the following topics will be covered: Methodologies for mastering planning and execution of a cost-effective in and out phasing of products Content and implementation of an introduction system to phase products in and out How to set up an effective and efficient master data organization (roles and responsibilities) 4

5 Right Sizing the IT environment (The module is expected to be offered in the Autumn of 2008) The module is concerned with configuration of the application in the most efficient way to meet the company s specific characteristics and needs. The module focuses on important questions as: How to assess hardware, WAN (Wireless Application Network), LAN (Local Area Network), SAN (Storage Area Network), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification, AOS (Microsoft Dynamics AX Application Object Server), etc. How to plan and implement the Microsoft Dynamics AX for Process Manufacturing model configuration (define data structure, groups, data cleansing, work centres, inventories etc). How to implement software changes in the Microsoft Dynamics AX for Process Manufacturing (procedures for change requests new functionality, master data, integration with other systems etc.) How to set up, implement and operate with a Configuration Item List (CIL) The Automation Pyramid (The module is expected to be offered in the Autumn of 2008) This module focuses on analyses of master data content and coherence from the shop floor to the elevated circles through: Business Intelligence (BI) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) 5

Development of an entirely English version of the MBA, similar to the Danish, is initiated and expected to be ready in the spring of

7 USEFUL DETAILS Admission requirements Applicants with a relevant professional bachelor degree, Bachelor of Commerce, other Diploma degree or a relevant academic bachelor or graduate with at least three years of relevant professional experience after graduation will be directly admitted to the MBA course. An exemption may be applied for in cases of other educational background at a corresponding level. Students can be admitted to single modules of the course in case they can document relevant background. Language The teaching language for these selective modules will be English. The literature will be in English, and applicants must be able to understand and practice the English language properly. Facilities The MBA course is offered in a co-operation between the University of Southern Denmark and the Aarhus School of Business, and classes will be held at the premises of those two institutions in Kolding and Aarhus, respectively. Fees The tuition fee for the complete course comes to DKK of which an amount of DKK 72,000 is allocated for the certificate part and an amount of DKK is allocated for the MBA part. To this amount will be added expenses for various materials and literature and provisioning to approximately DKK 25,000. Further expenses may be added for accommodation, private computer with internet access etc. The price of each module is DKK 12,000. Starting time The first two selective modules are offered to start in September 2008, however, depending on the actual number of enrolled students. A number of at least 10 students is required to start a selective module. Application Applications are processed after the deadline has expired. Deadline for application is January 15 th for classes in the spring term and July 1 st for classes in the autumn term, respectively. The number of applicants admitted is limited (max. 20 for each class). The University of Southern Denmark enrols students for the MBA course. Applications are processed in an Admission Committee. 7
