ABOUT THE BUFFS: Colorado is 5-15 overall and 0-9 in Pac-12 play. On the offensive end, the Buffaloes are averaging 62.7 points per game while shooting 39.3 percent from the field. Colorado is shooting 74.9 percent at the free throw line, 26th in the nation and third in the Pac- 12 Conference. The team has also been solid from long distance as CU ranks 39th in the country and third among Pac-12 teams in 3-point field goal percentage, connecting on 35.1 percent of its shots behind the arc. Defensively, Colorado has allowed 68.7 points per game on 40.8 percent from the field. The Buffaloes average 37 total rebounds, and are fifth in the Pac-12 with 4.4 blocked shots per game. Senior Jamee Swan is the team s top scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.2 points and 7.3 rebounds while hitting 43.5 percent from the field and 69.3 percent from the free throw line. She enters the game as Colorado s second highest scorer, averaging 11.3 points per game and has also dished out a team-leading 92 assists, averaging 4.6 in each contest. On the Pac-12 leaderboard, Leonard is 21st in scoring, seventh in assists and 12th in assist/turnover ratio (1.4). Junior guard Haley Smith is having a strong campaign, averaging 10.4 points per game and is second on the team with 5.7 rebounds. She has been one of Colorado s most accurate shooters from the field at 46.4 percent and at the free throw line where she has gone 30-of-33 (.909). Smith ranks 24th overall in the conference in scoring and 19th in rebounding. Junior wing Lauren Huggins is averaging 8.4 points per game and is third on the team in 3-point shooting, connecting on 41-of-106 of her shots for a 38.7 field goal percentage from behind the arc. In eight Pac-12 games this season, Huggins has shot 40.5 percent from the 3-point line. She tied a career-high with five treys against Arizona. The Littleton, Colo. native is fourth in the conference in 3-point field goals made as she averages 2.2 per game and 10th in 3-point field goal percentage. She missed her first game of the season on Friday

due to concussion protocol. Freshman Alexis Robinson has earned a place in the starting line up since the Buffs second Pac-12 game of the season after providing a nice spark off the bench during non-conference action. The Ashland, Ky. native is averaging 7.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. She is shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line, second best on the team and has connected on 33.8 percent of her shots from the field. Robinson had one of her best offensive performances of her young career against UMass when she scored a personal-best 21 points and her best defensive performance came in the Buffs Pac-12 opener when she held Washington s Kelsey Plum to a season low 18 points, 10 below her nation leading average of 28.1 per game at the time. Junior Zoe Beard-Fails leads the team in scoring and rebounding off the bench. She is averaging 5.1 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field and 71.1 percent at the free throw line. Sophomore center Zoe Correal is averaging 2.2 points and 3.7 rebounds and is second on the team in blocked shots with 15 total. All 12 of her career starts have come this season. Sophomore Brecca Thomas and freshman Makenzie Ellis have also contributed in various ways off the bench. Collectively, the duo is averaging 6.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game this season. ABOUT USC: The USC Trojans are 16-5 record and 4-5 in Pac-12 play as they arrive in Boulder having won two straight contests. The Trojans average 70.1 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting from the floor. As a team, they are averaging 14.5 assists and have the second-best scoring margin in the conference at points. USC has the fourth-ranked scoring defense in the Pac-12, holding opponents to 55.8 points on 38.2 percent shooting. The Women of Troy own the conference s best turnover margin, (+5.9) and are second in steals, averaging 10.4 per game. The Trojans have a trio of players averaging more than 10 points a game, led by forward Temi Fagbenle, who averages 13.8 points (12th in the Pac-12) and is the team s top rebounder with 8.9 per contest, which ranks sixth in the conference. She also has blocked a team-high 31 shots this season (1.5 bpg). Guard Jordan Adams averages 12.8 points and forward Kristen Simon averages 12 points a game. Guard Brianna Barrett ranks third in the Pac-12 in assists as she dishes 5.8 helpers per game. THE SERIES: In 13 meetings against USC, Colorado owns a 5-8 record. This will be the seventh time Colorado has hosted USC with the Buffaloes owning a 2-4 record against the Trojans at home. WHAT S NEXT?: The Buffaloes will play their first of two straight against Utah. They are in Salt Lake City to face the Utes on Thursday, Feb. 4 and then return to Boulder to host Utah on Sunday, Feb. 7 at the Coors Events Center. CHALLENGING SCHEDULE: Colorado has played the ninth toughest schedule in the nation (through games of Jan. 29) as its opponents have a combined record of (.636). The Buffaloes are third in the Pac-12 trailing only Stanford (third,.678) and (seventh,.644). The Buffaloes own the eighth most difficult schedule in the country when looking at their cumulative schedule. CU checked in with its second-best shooting night (53 percent) of the season to oust No. 8 seed USC and gain revenge for a pair of regular-season, double-digit losses to the Trojans (15-15). The Buffs shot 58 percent in a home loss to UCLA. Now winners of four of their last seven games, the Buffs got double-figure scoring from four players, topped by Haley Smith s 18. Jamee Swan added 15 points, Lexy Kresl 12 and Lauren Huggins 11 including three-of-three 3-pointers in her first double-figure effort against a Pac-12 opponent. For the night, CU made five of its seven 3-point attempts (71 percent), including all three in the second half. And they turned out to be monster treys. With USC turning up its intensity and cutting into a halftime deficit, Huggins hit back-to-back three-balls and Alina Hartmann contributed another to push CU up the 16-point lead being the Buffs biggest of the night at that juncture. In their pair of decisive regular-season losses to the Trojans (81-61, 66-51) the Buffs committed 43 combined turnovers. Thursday night s total was 18, with eight of them coming in the first half and the bulk of the second-half total occurring after CU already had established a late, commanding lead. Along with her 15 points, Swan contributed five rebounds, four blocked shots, one assist and one steal. The Trojans were held to their lowest shooting percentage (29) of the season, and their leading scorer (12.3 ppg), allconference senior forward Alexyz Vaioletama, went 0-for-13 from the field and finished with four free throws all made in the first half. Cleared to play after a concussion that kept her out of the final two regular season games, she started but was ineffective. Also held in check was USC s transition offense a defensive priority for CU. The Buffs torrid first-half shooting (58 percent) aided their defense, slowing down the Trojans. The Buffs, meanwhile, were efficient in their half-court sets and in sharing the ball. They had 17 assists on their 25 baskets, with Kresl furnishing seven of the assist total. Brianna Barrett led USC with 18 points, but went 7-of-17 from the field. Her teammates finished a combined 15-of-58. The Buffs led at halftime, with that 12-point advantage their largest of the first 20 minutes. After falling behind 12-9, CU used a 12-2 run to create what appeared to be a comfortable distance from USC. And the Buffs did it minus Jen Reese, who scored four of her team s first six points but also collected her second foul less than three minutes into the game. She played only six first-half minutes, scoring six points of her eight points. But she collected a team-best seven rebounds. Her teammates compensated nicely in the first half, hitting 14 of their 24 field goal attempts (58 percent) and overcoming an early outbreak of turnovers. During CU s 12-2 surge, good ball movement resulted in layups by Smith and Kresl and it didn t hurt that USC was being pushed into a mini-ice Age. With the Buffs ratcheting up the defensive intensity, the Trojans suffered through a nearly six-minute drought, going for 0-for-9 during that stretch and 1-for-15 overall before reserve Amy Okonkwo made a layup with 5:47 left before intermission. Shortly thereafter, Smith hit a pair of free throws to give the Buffs their first double-digit lead and the Trojans got no closer than five points in the half s last 2:30. USC scored the first four points of the second half, but CU maintained a six- to eight-point lead through the first eight minutes. Lappe said her halftime message was to treat the last 20 minutes like the scoreboard read zero (to) zero... didn t matter what the score was. We wanted to come out and really reset a little bit. I put our beginning (pregame) things that we talked about back on the board. Those things included playing solid transition defense. The Buffs did, and Lappe called that huge for us. Their run in the second half was because they were getting out in transition and getting too many lay-ups. I liked how we responded under the 12-minute mark. The Buffs committed two more turnovers during that stretch, but their biggest problem was a growing number of fouls. Swan, Kresl and Reese had three each before the 10-minute mark, but by that time CU had taken its largest lead of the game with Huggins draining her second trey for the last three points in the 13-point bulge and Hartmann s trey to follow. The freshman from Bamberg, Germany squared up from the left corner, knocked it down and pushed the Buffs up with 7:36 to play. Could CU hold that 16-point lead? Yes. The Buffs led by 15 (71-56) on a pair of Kresl free throws with 2:47 remaining, before hitting the final margin.

nents are a combined (.640). The Buffs trail only Tennessee (first,.705), Stanford (second,.668), Texas A&M (third,.661), Notre Dame (fourth,.658), LSU (fifth,.656), Ohio State (sixth,.652) and UCLA (seventh, 647). DOUBLE-DOUBLE RARITY: Freshman Kennedy Leonard recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 10 assists against then-no. 13 Kentucky on Nov. 22 in Lexington, becoming just the fifth player in school history to earn a points-assists double-double. SWAN REACHES 1,000: Senior Jamee Swan became the 28th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points on Saturday, Dec. 19 as the Buffaloes defeated Presbyterian at the Coors Events Center. She scored her 1,000th career point on a layup with 2:55 remaining in the third quarter and finished the game with 16 points. DOUBLE TROUBLE: Senior Jamee Swan has recorded a doubledigit scoring effort in 13 of 18 games played this season to lead the Buffs offensively as she is averaging 13.2 points. Swan also has a team-leading three double-doubles this season. She tallied her first (13 points, 10 rebounds) against Northern Colorado on Nov. 19., and then had a double-double in back-to-back games, against Presbyterian on Dec. 19 (16 points, 11 rebounds), allowing her to take over sole possession for 12th place on the all-time doubledoubles list and her third came at Wyoming (28 points, 13 rebounds) on Dec. 21. Swan has 13 double-doubles in her career. Freshman Kennedy Leonard has 11 double-digit scoring performances, junior Haley Smith has 10 and junior Lauren Huggins along with freshman Alexis Robinson have seven each. Junior Zoe Beard-Fails and sophomore Brecca Thomas have each tallied a pair of 10+ scoring games. RECORD BOOK WATCH: Senior Jamee Swan and junior Lauren Huggins continue to climb rankings in the record books this season. Swan, who began the season in 17th place on the all-time rebounding list has since moved into 11th place and is 14 rebounds away from cracking the top 10. Swan has also moved from sixth place to third place on the all-time blocked shots list. Huggins, who is shooting 39.8 from behind the arc this season has also made a move up the charts. From the beginning of the season, Huggins has climbed five places on the all-time list for most 3-point field goal attempts, from 16th to 11th place. In addition, she s moved four spots from 15th to 11th in the CU record book for most made 3-point field goals. HIGH FIVES: Three times this season the Buffaloes have finished a game with five players recording at least 10 points. Colorado accomplished this feat most recently against Washington in its Pac-12 opener. Freshman Kennedy Leonard and senior Jamee Swan scored 19 points, freshman Alexis Robinson tallied 13, junior Haley Smith finished with 12 and junior Lauren Huggins chipped in 11 points. The other two times a Buffs quintet reached this mark was against Northern Arizona and Loyola Marymount. DOMINANT IN NON-CONFERENCE: The Buffaloes have been dominant in regular season nonconference games under Linda Lappe. Colorado is in that stretch since the beginning of the season. The Buffaloes have won 48 of their last 60 regular season nonconference contests. A MILESTONE WIN: Head Coach Linda Lappe won her 100th career game at Colorado on Thursday, Nov. 19 as the Buffaloes defeated Northern Colorado at the Coors Events Center. Lappe is at the helm for the Buffs and her career head coaching record stands at in eight-plus seasons. TALENTED GUARD CAYLAO-DO SIGNS NLI: Quinessa Caylao- Do, a talented shooting guard from Tacoma, Wash. has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and join the Uni-

versity of Colorado women s basketball team next fall, head coach Linda Lappe announced. Quinessa is a consummate team player who is a proven winner, Lappe said. She is a versatile player who can defend, score, handle the ball and pass. We are excited to have her as a part of our buff family! The 5 foot, 9-inch shooting guard proved to play a pivotal role in her team s State Tournament run last season. As a junior, she scored a game-high 18 points as she guided Todd Beamer High School to a program-best third-place finish at the 2015 Class 4A State Girls Basketball Tournament, after making two straight appearances in the district title game (2013, 14). A consistent contributor on the offensive side of the ball, she finished her junior campaign averaging 13.5 points per game. Caylao-Do will reunite with Bria Rice, who signed with Colorado last week. Both were teammates at Beamer High School for their first three seasons and have spent time on the same court since middle school. Cayalo-Do will play her senior season at Bellevue High School where she is set to graduate this spring. I m really excited to be joining the Colorado women s basketball team and I m looking forward to also joining Bria since we won t be playing together this season, said Caylao-Do. We ve been playing together since sixth grade so I m pumped to be on the same team again. She called her future Buff teammates really welcoming and has been working on becoming faster, more consistent shooter, and hopes that will help translate into Colorado wins. I really liked all the coaches and players when I was in Boulder on my official visit, said Caylao-Do. I felt like I was at home. The campus and facilities were really nice as well. In addition to her enthusiasm in playing for the black and gold, Caylao-Do is fulfilling her dream to play against some of the best in a challenging Pac-12 Conference. An All-SPSL South team selection and named to the 2015 State s All-Tournament team, Caylao-Do also has experience competing in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball league as she spent this past summer playing on the Tree of Hope AAU team. BUFFS SIGN STANDOUT GUARD RICE TO LETTER OF INTENT: Bria Rice has signed a national letter of intent to play for the University of Colorado women s basketball team and continue her education beginning in , head coach Linda Lappe announced on Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA s early signing period. Bria is a high energy player who will increase our overall speed and athleticism especially on the defensive end of the floor, said Lappe. She will give us depth in the guard position and we look for her to compete as a freshman. She has high character and loves to win so she fits in great here at Colorado. Rice, a 5-foot, 8-inch guard from Federal Way, Wash. is preparing for her senior year at Todd Beamer High School where she helped lead the Titans to a school best third-place finish at the 2015 Class 4A state girls basketball tournament. When I came to Colorado on my official visit, I already felt like I belonged as the team and coaches felt like family, said Rice. I am looking forward to getting better and using my skills to help the team continue to improve. The high school standout averaged 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.5 steals as a junior and has guided her team to threestraight 20+ win seasons, culminating in an impressive 73-9 record. Rice refers to her style of play as intense and aggressive, and will look to bring that same approach with her when she steps onto campus next fall. The fact that the team pushes each other, I love that, Rice said. Because if you re not pushing each other you re not making each other better. Not only are they there to encourage each other they are there to make each other better and I m excited to be on a team that has the same mentality that I do. Rice has earned numerous accolades during high school. She was voted the SPSL 4A Northwest Division Most Valuable Player, which Rice highlights as the biggest moment of her high school career thus far. Her MVP honors came in the same year she helped Todd Beamer qualify for the state tournament for the first time in school history. She also was named The News Tribune s Girls All-Area Basketball Player of the Year. In addition to her consistent contributions to the Titans, Rice played AAU for Tree of Hope in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, the same team current Buff Haley Smith was a member of during her prep career. Rice s team placed second in 2014 and then earned a third place finish in 2015 at Nike Nationals. BUFFS ON TV: Colorado women s basketball will be televised to a regional or national audience at least 15 times during the regular season, including 14 games on the Pac-12 Networks during league play. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Buffaloes will have double-digit regional or national television appearances. Colorado made their television debut on Saturday, Dec. 12 when the Buffs hosted former Big-12 opponent Missouri at the Coors Events Center. Colorado s first four Pac-12 games will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks as will seven of the Buffaloes nine home conference games. All remaining home games, and conference road games, that aren t televised will be scheduled to be streamed live through Colorado s Pac-12.com video portal. Entering this season, Colorado has tipped off on 143 national or regional telecasts since the fall of 2001, and 44 since the advent of the Pac-12 Networks in BUFFS PICKED NINTH: In what is expected to be one of the most competitive league races in recent memory, Colorado was tabbed to finish ninth in the Pac-12 Conference standings according to the annual coaches preseason poll, announced at Pac-12 Media Day on Oct. 14. Oregon State was voted the preseason favorite for the first time in the history of the poll, claiming 121 points and 11 first place votes. Stanford was second with 104 overall points. The other first place nod went to Arizona State, selected to finish third overall with 102. California and UCLA were fourth with 88 points apiece followed by was fourth with 84 points followed by Washington (68), USC (60), Oregon (52), Colorado (39), Washington State (30), Utah (23) and Arizona (17). In the media s preseason poll, Colorado was also picked ninth with 88 points.

BUFFS HOST FIFTH ANNUAL ONE-ON-ONE EVENT AHEAD OF SEASON TIP OFF: The University of Colorado women s basketball team welcomed fans to the Coors Events Center on Tuesday evening for its fifth annual One-On-One event. A favorite among many, the premise of the One-On-One event is to have each student-athlete pair up with a prominent female member of the university s faculty/staff and get to know them outside of a classroom or office setting. The pairs then introduce each other to fans in attendance for the main program. The campus leaders participating this year included department directors, professors and PhD candidates. Student-athletes and their presenters first sat down at a team dinner to learn about one another. After the dinner concluded, the public event began with a reception where players, the coaching staff and campus leaders greeted the fans in attendance. Former head coach Ceal Barry, who held a similar event during her tenure, served as the event s emcee and brought each player and presenter to the stage. Each presenter introduced their student-athlete and what they learned about them before asking a question for the player to answer. Questions included everything from a fun, light-hearted if you take a trip anywhere in the world where would you go? to if you had the choice to eliminate either world hunger or all types of discrimination what would you choose? I had a great time, said freshman Kennedy Leonard as she thanked her presenter Cindy Pickett, senior executive aide to the senior vice chancellor & CFO. The evening was filled with quite a few laughs and entertainment, especially when the student-athletes took the mic to answer the questions, which allowed their personality to shine through. The event also allowed the fans in attendance to get to know each student-athlete a little bit better as some presenters talked about each players favorite hobbies, goals after college among other topics. The program closed with head coach Linda Lappe thanking the campus leaders for their continued support and involvement with the event and fans for coming to support the team ahead of tip off to the season. BURICH TO MISS SEASON: Freshman Monica Burich will miss the women s basketball season after tearing the ACL in her left knee. Burich, a 6 2 forward, suffered the injury during a routine practice drill late in October. A three-sport high school standout from Roseville, Minn., Burich averaged over 18 points per game and nine rebounds as a senior. She finished her prep career with 1,266 points, 830 rebounds, 342 assists and 302 steals and was a two-time Class 4A All-State selection by the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association.
