From efficient heating and cooling equipment to LED site lighting and smart sensors that maximize energy savings, Prologis works with customers to deliver cost-effective and energy-saving enhancements to our property portfolio that reduce operating costs and benefit the environment. Lighting Lighting is often the largest electrical load in a distribution facility, consuming up to two-thirds of total electricity usage. Prologis has worked with customers to deploy high-efficiency lighting in more than 380 million square feet (35.3 million square meters) of properties. These upgrades reduce lighting energy costs by up to 40 percent, enhance light quality and can improve customer productivity. Roofing Prologis utilizes white, reflective cool roofing in warm climates to minimize heat gain inside our facilities and reduce the urban heat island effect outside them. Compared with dark-colored roofing, this provides a more comfortable workspace and reduces impacts on the local environment. Prologis has installed more than 165 million square feet (15.3 million square meters) of white reflective roofing, delivering a sustainable solution for an often-overlooked element of industrial buildings. Landscaping Landscape irrigation is often the single largest consumer of water in a distribution facility. In water-constrained and drought-prone environments, Prologis installs low-water landscaping and high-efficiency plumbing fixtures to reduce demand on limited fresh water supplies, and utilizes graywater where available. 7 RENEWABLE ENERGY MEGAWATTS Cumulative Installed Solar Capacity As one of the world s largest owners of rooftops, Prologis leverages its real estate portfolio to host solar energy systems. Prologis Renewable Energy partners with utilities and investors seeking new sources of distributed renewable energy. Electricity from these systems flows to the utility grid and supplies the surrounding community. Prologis has developed a portfolio of more than 80 megawatts of photovoltaic system installations in five countries to support cost-effective and profitable clean energy generation. LEADING BY EXAMPLE Prologis corporate headquarters at Pier 1 in San Francisco, California a historic waterfront property already recognized for its sustainable redevelopment is receiving an energy-efficiency overhaul that will reduce grid energy consumption by 32 percent. Prologis undertook this project to demonstrate an innovative form of financing called PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) to spur similar efforts among others in the real estate industry. This project includes a full lighting retrofit, recommissioning of the heating and cooling system, and a rooftop solar array. The Pier 1 upgrade follows a similar recommissioning effort at the company s Denver operational headquarters in 2011.
