6 RACHEL SOLOV Deputy District Attorney IV, San Diego District Attorney s Office Rachel Solov has been a deputy district attorney since She served in the Sex Crimes and Stalking Division from , where she was the sole prosecutor assigned to prosecute all female-victim domestic violence stalking cases that occurred in the county of San Diego. Additionally, she headed San Diego s Stalking Case Assessment Team. Ms. Solov routinely provides training to prosecutors, law enforcement, and advocates in the area of stalking and threat assessment. She has been featured on a BBC special, has provided commentary on Anderson Cooper 360 and CBS s Early Show. Ms. Solov graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in May 1998 and graduated Cum Laude with a major in Political Science from San Diego State University in Mark Wynn Lieutenant (Retired), Nashville Police Department Lt. Mark Wynn was a twenty year member of the Metropolitan Police Department - Served as Lieutenant to the Domestic Violence Division - member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team for fifteen years - recipient of 121 commendations and 51 awards and certificates including the 1998 Nashvillian of the Year Award and the National Improvement of Justice Award. In April 1993 and 1994 Lt. Wynn was called to testify before Congress on issues including the public health issue of violence in the family and the positive effects on mandatory arrest in incidents of family violence. In 1994, he graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy - Session 178. Lt. Wynn is an Advisor-Trainer to the Tennessee Task Force Against Family Violence and an adjunct instructor to the Metropolitan Police Departments Police Academy and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy on the issues family violence. Former member of the National Advisory Board to the Department of Justice -Office of Victim s of Crime on Law Enforcement Response to Family Violence.
7 Michael LaRiviere Officer, Salem Police Department Michael LaRiviere has been a member of the Salem Police Department since During his six years as Domestic Violence Liaison Officer (D.V.L.O.), his duties included domestic violence investigations policy/procedure development, and training. His work as D.V.L.O. significantly changed how domestic violence cases are investigated and prosecuted in Salem and surrounding areas. His collaborations with the local battered women s shelter in Salem resulted in over 100 presentations at schools, hospitals, and social service organizations on the issues of domestic violence. Mr. LaRiviere earned his B.S. in Human Services at Springfield College. He has been honored with awards from HAWC and from the Office on Violence Against Women for extraordinary contribution to the prevention of domestic violence. Officer LaRiviere served as a member of the Department of Defense Task Force on Domestic Violence. Angela Downes Senior Attorney, National District Attorney s Association, & Creating a Criminal Justice Center Angela Downes is a Senior Attorney for the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse at the National District Attorneys Association. Previously, Ms. Downes was the Attorney for Court Programs at the national organization of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Ms. Downes also served as a prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney s Office in Dallas, Texas. While there she prosecuted cases from DWI to capital murder. She also served as the supervisor for the District Attorney s two domestic violence courts. In 2008, Ms. Downes was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to serve on Texas Board of Examiners for Psychologists. The Board is the regulatory and licensing agency for psychologists in the state. In 2005, Ms. Downes was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Downes is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan School of Law and Mercer University.
