The Institutes activities include academic, training and fellowship programs, professional development activities and continuing education, clinical and basic research, healthcare service provision, and public policy evaluation and consultation MEMBER, Greater New Orleans Drug Demand Reduction Task Force 2011 to present The Drug Demand Reduction Task Force, convened by then U.S. Attorney Jim Letten, is a coalition of community stakeholders, including the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff, the Orleans Parish District Attorney, the Chief Judge of Municipal Court, the Director Metropolitan Human Resources., working on developing a strategic plan aimed at reducing drug use and related crime in Orleans Parish. 2

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER, Post-Conviction DNA Testing Project 2009 to present Serve on seven member board, advising Director of Project which is funded by 1.3 million dollar grant from the Department of Justice to identify and test biological evidence in Orleans parish for actual innocence claims. DRAFTER/ADVOCATE, Louisiana Competency to Stand Trial Statutes 2008 Drafted and successfully advocated on behalf of legislation amending Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Articles 641 et seq., dealing with procedures relating to defendants who are incompetent to stand trial. CRIMINAL DEFENSE BAR REPRESENTATIVE to ASPIRES 2007 to present Represent the interests of the criminal defense bar in ASPIRES - Accountability, Strategic Planning & Integration of Evidence Systems. ASPIRES is a group of criminal justice stakeholders working together to create a model evidence system for Orleans Parish that is reliable, accountable and in line with industry standards PAPERS FOR PRISONERS/ALLIES 2008 to present Faculty coordinator of program designed to match volunteer law students with Louisiana inmates who need assistance locating legal documents. CO-FOUNDER, Orleans Parish Forensic Mental Health Council 2007 to 2009 The focus of OPFMHC is to work towards effective, humane and just treatment of the mentally ill involved in the criminal justice system.
