1 Financial Aid Jacobs University Bremen Online Application Information A university education is a major investment of time and financial resources that involves many partners you, your family, government or private funding sources, and Jacobs University Bremen. Please submit the financial aid application online to the Office of Student Financial Services. You can find more information on how to fill out the online form at the following website: The deadlines to submit the financial aid application are one month after the admission deadlines for a respective round or by June 15 for rolling admission applicants. If you are not admitted to Jacobs University, your financial aid application will be destroyed at the end of the admission cycle. Once you have been admitted to Jacobs University Bremen, your financial aid application will be reviewed. Financial aid packages may consist of: expected family contribution, scholarships, grants, and tuition postponements. There is a limited number of highly competitive campus jobs available which may provide additional funding. Our assessment of your financial need will be based on the information that you provide. Therefore, the accurate and timely completion of the Jacobs University Financial Aid Application is essential if you want to be considered for financial aid. In addition to your online application, you need to submit the following supporting documents: 1.) Declaration and Signature page (attached) 2.) Sibling s Enrollment Verification (if applicable; attached) 3.) Bank Statement confirming that a minimum of EUR are at your disposal for the first semester 4.) Your parents most recent tax statements 5.) Your parents most recent pay slips or a letter of employment 6.) Additional documents might be required depending on your individual situation All photocopied documents must be certified and accompanied by official translations into either English or German. We will not accept simple copies of any documents. Without the supporting documents, your financial aid application cannot be processed. In addition, the Financial Aid Office reserves the right to request additional information to verify the figures you listed. You may want to send scanned copies of your documents in advance to accelerate processing. However, we reserve the right to request the original documents once financial aid is released. Take some extra time to double check the information you are submitting. If your application is incomplete, processing will be delayed. Access to financial aid applications is limited to financial aid staff. You cannot change any information in these sections. SECTION Family Financial Resources Currency When completing Sections Family Financial Resources and Student Financial Resources, please use the same currency as is used on your supporting documents. Income Please include all income from all types of sources (taxable and non-taxable). There are a number of examples listed on the financial aid form, but this list cannot be considered exhaustive. SECTION Student Financial Resources If you are single and have not been employed, please disregard the Annual Income and Annual Expenses sections and complete just the Assets & Liabilities section. Then include your expenses in Section III, Your Family s Financial Resources. If you are married, please complete this section and include your spouse s income, expenses, assets, and liabilities. SECTION Educational Support Please list how much funding you are able to contribute each year to your Jacobs University tuition, room and board. The amount listed should not include any additional costs that you will incur. Please take the time to study the Estimated Student Budget before determining how much funding you will be able to provide to your Jacobs University tuition, room and board expenses. I agree: a) to notify Student Financial Services in writing if I change my address, marital or financial status, or if my parents, guardian s, sponsor s, or spouse s address or financial status changes. b) that all Student Financial Services records (records include: balance and fee information, financial aid award information, satisfactory academic progress standing and loan status) may be forwarded to my parents and/or legal guardians. Apply now! Before you arrive, please ensure you have sufficient funds for all costs that exceed any financial aid package you may have. These costs include but are not limited to the stated indirect estimated expenses and of course, the amount anyone spends depends greatly on his or her own personal situation and individual choices. Tuition for one academic year Room & Board covers the cost for your college room, basic utility expenses like heating, water, electricity, internet access, plus three meals per day for nine months (September to May) University Fee for campus activities, graduation, etc. Semester Ticket allows you to travel on local public transportation at no additional cost for the entire year (including local trains to neighboring cities like Hannover, Hamburg, Osnabrück, and Oldenburg) Broadcasting Fee this fee is mandatory for all residents of Germany and covers the cost of public television and radio broadcastings Enrollment Deposit in order to confirm your acceptance of our offer of admission, you must pay a one-time enrollment deposit of 500 Residence Permit required of all non-german students studying in Germany Health Insurance required of all students! You may be able to find less expensive health insurance from home, but you need to make sure that the insurance will cover all applicable costs in Germany. You also need verification of your health insurance in order to register.
