1 Connection Master Multiservice access for utility, corporate & enterprise Advanced support for SDH/STM-1/4/16 and Fast/Gigabit Ethernet featuring SNMP in devices that are backwards compatible with existing Dynanet and FMX2 equipment, transforming legacy TDM based services to the next generation. Features Simultaneous delivery of TDM & packet based services 64kbit/s cross-connection functionality for legacy TDM services Optimized for low latency applications High capacity TDM & Ethernet based tributary units High reliability for mission critical services Backwards compatible with Dynanet and FMX2 Hybrid SDH and CET trunk Trunk redundancy 1+1 True multiservice capabilities Connection Master provides true multiservice capabilities to support a very wide range of legacy voice and data interfaces transported over Next Generation SDH. It has the performance capabilities to handle almost any type of applications including POTS (Plain Old Telephony Service) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). Migration from TDM to packet utilizing CET per service is also fully supported. Mission criticality Very low latency means that time-critical applications, such as Teleprotection are also supported. Connection Master is designed to be backwards-compatible with your existing network for example FMX2 or Dynanet equipment. And of course mission-critical reliability is built-in. Connection Master offers extreme flexibility, for TDM, Ethernet, data and voice based services in various network topologies through the following interfaces: STM-1/4/16 trunk interfaces (1+1 prot.) 128 x E1 64kbit/s cross-connect (4096 x 4096 DS0) Optical trunk interfaces (Gigabit Ethernet) as an alternative to SDH Gigabit & Fast Ethernet tributary interfaces Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Ethernet in the First Mile with pair bonding over copper Advanced Ethernet services (e.g. QoS) Legacy Interface support for V/X/G series interfaces PWE3 support for TDM over Packet networks Analogue voice support for FXO/FXS Long life cycle for utility networks Voice over IP Gigabit Ethernet/10GE MPLS-TP Meeting your demands Connection Master is the new low latency access platform from Nokia Siemens Networks specifically designed to meet the needs of dedicated networks.
2 Switching The cross-connection fabric of the SDH trunk card connects E1 and Ethernet interfaces to virtual circuits. The Ethernet over SDH (EoS) encapsulation distributes the Ethernet traffic to a group of circuits, which form a virtual concatenation group. The outgoing traffic comes from tributary cards over Layer 2 switching, which performs 1GE aggregation before the traffic is dispatched to trunk interfaces. The incoming Ethernet traffic is delivered to tributary cards by switching and VLAN addressing. Network topologies The SDH trunk card supports ring and linear topologies independently on each trunk interface. The system controller functionality is centralized in the SDH trunk card. It supports the monitoring and managing of tributary cards, maintenance of the device database and NMS interface. The device upgrade, backup, and restore is also supported in this centralized manner. Clocking and remote access The SDH trunk card is the master clock distributor of the Connection Master system. It is able to regenerate the node clock from any STM or E1 interface, while the external clock input is also available. The master clock is redundant with secondary and tertiary clock configuration. The clock quality can be monitored according to the following: PRC (G.811) SSUT, SSUL (G.812) SEC (G.813) The remote nodes in the SDH network can be accessed over the DCCs. The SDH trunk card connects the external management interface to RSOH, MSOH, or both channels. The protocol supported in Connection Master DCC is IP/PPP. Connection Master STM-1/4 Connection Master Metro/aggregation network (e.g. STM-4/16) Data POTS Linear and ring topologies
