1 Education and Biobanking as a Career Path Jim Vaught, Ph.D. Editor-in-Chief, Biopreservation and Biobanking Senior Research Fellow, International Prevention Research Institute
2 Traditional biobanking career path Biobanker directors usually came from other professions, e.g. pathology, epidemiology. My own experience as a NCI molecular epidemiology contract director; training in NCI Epidemiology Program Technical staff often were undergraduate biologists who, after a year or 2 working in a biobank, left for graduate or medical school. Education in biobanking was usually on the job training with SOPs. Since biobanking was not yet thought of as a science, little consideration was given to professional training and education.
