1 ASSESSMENT TECHNOLOGY, INCORPORATED A Guide for Galileo K-12 Online School Performance Dashboard: Categorical Growth Score Management PURPOSE Effectiveness Security Settings. The Categorical Growth Summary widget provides data on whether the teachers or selected schools have maintained the expected growth of their students in the selected subjects. While Galileo has automated the way student assessment data is linked to teachers, there are instances in which the district Instructional Effectiveness (IE) administrator may need to modify and customize the data elements being factored into a teacher s Categorical Growth Score. Data elements may be added and removed as needed from the Categorical Growth Score Management page. ACCESS The Categorical Growth Score Management page is available to District- and School-level users who have been given the User Has Access to Instructional Effectiveness Tools permission. For information on setting up appropriate Instructional Effectiveness (IE) permissions, see A Guide for Galileo K-12 Configure Instructional 1. Click the Dashboard link. 2. Use the down arrow to select School Performance. 3. Use the down arrow to select the desired School or select [All Schools]. 4. If provided the appropriate permissions, the Settings icon will appear at the top of the Categorical Growth Summary widget Assessment Technology, Incorporated professionaldevelopment@ati-online.com

2 PAGE INTERPRETATION a. Takes the user back to the previous page. b. Allows the user to select the school for which they would like to manage categorical growth data. c. Opens the IE Staff list. This list is also accessible from the Instructional Effectiveness Dashboard page. A user may flag a teacher as not needing an IE evaluation. By default all users are checked as Requires Instructional Effectiveness Evaluation. Un-checking this setting will remove the individual not only from the Categorical Growth Score Management page, but will remove him or her from all IE widgets, such as the Categorical Growth Summary report and the Score Compilers. d. Will display the teachers with last names in the selected range. e. This feature may only be selected by district-level users with IE privileges. Checking this prohibits school level users from making any changes via the Categorical Growth Score Management page. This features also locks the Categorical Growth Summary data, ensuring that future changes and updates will not impacted the locked scores. f. The Lock All and Unlock All buttons are only available to District-level users with IE privileges. These buttons allow District-level user to extend to Classand School-level users the ability to edit students from their Student Growth and Achievement Scatter plots. This in turn removes them from their Categorical Growth Score. Allows the user to select three reports to print from the Categorical Growth Summary Management page. These include: Rev Assessment Technology, Incorporated - 2 -

3 o o Teacher/Score Connections - shows the assessments that are currently informing each teachers Categorical Growth Score. Teacher/Score/Student Connections - in addition to showing the Teacher/Score connections, it will list each student currently linked to a teacher s categorical growth score. The student s enrollment date, and if applicable drop date will displayed. If it is determined that a student should not be included in a teacher s categorical growth score, they may be removed, and the eligible column will change from yes to no indicating they are no longer being factored into the data. For more information on removing students refer to the A Guide for Galileo K-12 Online School Performance and Instructional Effectiveness Dashboard: Edit Students in the Student Growth and Achievement Data o CG Score Results with Detail Data - shows the Teacher/Score/Student Connections as well as the teacher s Categorical Growth Score, each students observed growth, expected growth and if applicable, the ceiling effect score. h. Expands or collapses the rows to display the details factoring into a teacher s categorical growth scores. OPTIONS FOR MANUAL CHANGES From the Categorical Growth Score Management page a user can make changes to the selection of assessments, classes, and/or students being factored into a teacher s score. a. Lists the subjects for which the teacher will have a Categorical Growth score. b. Assessments making up the subject area Categorical Growth scores will be listed in the blue bar. c. Clicking on the pencil icon allows the user to edit the selection of assessments being factored into the Categorical Growth Score. d. By default the lock feature is closed. 4 the ability to edit the students being factored into their Categorical Growth Score, by clicking on and unlocking the icon. e. Clicking on the pencil icon by the Classes heading allows the user to add or remove classes, to/from the teacher s Categorical Growth Score. f. Clicking on the pencil icon by the Students heading allows the user to add or remove students, to/from the teacher s Categorical Growth Score. SELECTION OF ASSESSMENTS 1. To edit the selection of assessments click on the pencil icon. 2. Select the desired assessment and click the right arrow to add it, or the left arrow to remove it. 3. Click the Save and Close button. 4. The assessment will now show in the blue bar, under the teacher s name. EDIT CLASSES The classes being factored into a teacher s Categorical Growth Score may be edited. Please note the following: If a class is added, it will be checked, the class roster is added to the student list and all students are checked to be factored into the Categorical Growth Score. If a class is removed, the students in that class are removed. If a class is unchecked, the students in that class remain on the student list but are unchecked, and so not factored into the Categorical Growth Score. Rev Assessment Technology, Incorporated - 4 -

5 1. Click the icon pencil by the Classes heading. 2. Select the desired class(es) and click the right arrow to add, or the left arrow to remove. 3. Click the Save and Close button. 4. If you added a class, the class is now added to the class list and is checked. 5. Classes may be checked or unchecked as desired. EDIT STUDENTS The students being factored into a teacher s Categorical Growth Score may be edited. Please note the following: Students added will automatically be checked to be included in a teacher s Categorical Growth Score. Students manually added, will not have their enrollment information displayed. If a student is excluded via the Student Growth and Achievement report, they will still show in this list, they just will not be checked. 1. Click the icon pencil by the Classes heading. 2. Select the School and Class. 3. Select the desired students and click the right arrow to add, or the left arrow to remove them. 4. Click the Save and Close button. 5.
