1 Title Blocks By default there are four pre-defined Worksheet view windows available (Floor Plan, Elevations, Details, and Site Plan). Each one contains a generic border and title block supplied by Cadsoft. You can edit the title block to suit your needs, or delete it and insert a different title block, including any custom ones that you have created. Below is a list of standard sheet sizes. Sheet System Sheet Size Metric Dimensions (mm) ANSI A 216 X X 11 ANSI B 279 X X 17 Arch C 457 X X 24 Arch D 610 X X 36 Arch E 914 X X 48 Arch F 762 X X 42 Inserting a New Title Block Imperial Dimensions (inches) If you delete the generic title block in one of the default Worksheet view windows, or create a new Worksheet view window, you can use the Import CAD File tool to insert a title block of your choice onto the worksheet. Envisioneer ships with many title block options in DWG format. You can also insert any custom title blocks that you have created if they are in DWG or DXF format. To delete the existing title block: 1. Click on any object on the existing title block. Because it is a block, the entire title block is selected. 2. Press the Delete key on your keyboard. To insert a title block: 1. Select Insert > Import CAD File (or File > Import > Import CAD File). 2. In the Open dialog, locate and select the file that you want to import. To view the title blocks that ship with Envisioneer, double-click the Title Blocks folder to expand it. 3. Select a title block, then click Open. A preview of the title block is displayed in the Import dialog. 4. In the Import dialog, specify an insertion scale for the title block if necessary. By default, the block will be scaled by the same factor in both the X and Y direction. If you wanted to scale it differently in each direction, you would have to first unlock the lock beside the Scale edit boxes. Note: If you are importing a file that was created in AutoCAD, specify a scale of 25.4 (1 inch = 25.4 mm). AutoCAD has a non-scaled drawing environment. Therefore, AutoCAD files must be scaled to suit Envisioneer s scaled drawing environment. If you were to export to a DWG file from Envisioneer, and then were to import that DWG file back into Envisioneer, your scale factor would be 1. Similarly, the scale factor for the title blocks that ship with Envisioneer would also be 1.

2 5. If you want to import only a portion of the image, click next to the Crop Box option and then create a box around the desired portion by picking two diagonal points. 6. Click. 7. If the title block contains attributes, the Edit Block Attributes dialog box appears. Attributes are strings of text that can be customized every time the block is inserted. For example, you can specify a custom project name, drawing number or company name for the title block. To edit an attribute value, simply click on the attribute, type the desired value, then press Enter. If you prefer you can accept the default values for now and edit them after the title block has been inserted. 8. Once you have defined attribute values, click OK. The title block is attached to your crosshairs. 9. Position the title block in the drawing area, then click to insert it.

3 Customizing Title Blocks By default, the existing Worksheet View windows contain a generic 24 x 36 title block. (This is the D1-sizelandscape.dwg file in the program s Title Blocks folder.) All title blocks supplied by Cadsoft contain attributes, which are strings of text that you can customize. You can also customize the structure of a title block by editing its definition. To customize text on a title block: 1. With the title block displayed on your worksheet, select View > Zoom Window. 2. Zoom in on the lower right corner of the title block. Notice the different types of information that appear in this portion of the block. 3. Click anywhere on the title block to select it. 4. In the Object Properties panel, click on the Edit button in the Attributes field.

4 5. In the Edit Block Attributes dialog, click on the value of the attribute that you want to change, then type the desired value and press Enter. For example, to change the date, click on Jan next to the Date item, then type today s date and press Enter. 6. Click OK. The date on the title block is updated. Tip: If a block contains attributes, the Edit Block Attributes dialog will appear automatically every time someone inserts the block in a drawing. This prompts the user to fill in and verify all pertinent title block fields. To edit the structure of a title block: 1. In the Object Properties panel, click on the Edit button in the Definition field.

5 When you edit a block s definition, everything except the title block is dimmed, indicating that you are currently in block editing mode. In this mode, every line and object in the title block can be selected and edited individually. 2. Click on the object on the title block that you would like to edit. For example, if we wanted to delete the line above the DESIGNER text, we would click on that line. Notice that only the object that you click on is selected. 3. To delete a selected object, select Modify > Delete. Tip: You can use any tool on the Modify menu to edit objects in your title block, including Move, Rotate and Duplicate. You can also add objects to the block. 4. Press the ESC key on your keyboard to exit the block editing mode and return to your overall worksheet. Creating Your Own Title Blocks You can design your own drawing borders and title blocks in Envisioneer and save them in DWG format for use in any project. To create your own title block: 1. Open a blank Worksheet view window and use drawing tools such as Line, Polyline and Rectangle to create the structure of the title block. 2. Use the Text tool to add static text to the title block. You can also add textual attributes to the title block by selecting Insert > Blocks > Insert Attribute. An attribute is text that can be customized by a user every time the block is inserted. 3. If you want to add an image to the title block, such as your company logo, select Insert > Import Image, then select and insert the desired image. 4. When your title block design is finished, select File > Export > 2D Drawing. Save the drawing as a DWG file in your Title Blocks folder. By default, the Title Blocks folder is located here: C:\ProgramData\Cadsoft\Envisioneer\Drafting Objects\Title Blocks 5. To insert the title block, use the Import CAD File tool. If the title block contains attributes, you will be prompted to specify values for the attributes every time that the block is inserted.
