New Faculty Advisor Workshop, DePauw University, August 2009 This workshop shares with the new faculty advisors at DePauw University the information, issues, and the best practices related to student academic advising. American Economic Association (AEA) Teaching Innovation Program (TIP) workshop, (Organized by the Committee on Economic Education of the American Economic Association) This extended pedagogical certification program by AEA taught innovative teaching techniques to economics professors. The first round consisted of a three-day workshop. The second round of the program involved the finishing of two online courses (modules) over a period of several months. The modules were comprised of advanced topics and techniques over and beyond what were taught in the first round of the program and consisted of readings, online quizzes, and projects such as making exam questions or class activities that incorporate a certain pedagogical technique. Stage I: On-location workshop; Chicago, IL; conducted by KimMarie McGoldrick, Robert Rebelein, and Kirsten Madden (June, 2009). Stage II: Online modules; Modules Completed: Classroom Discussion [Instructor: Michael Salemi] and Context-Rich Problems [Instructor: Mark Maier] (January-May 2010) W workshop, DePauw University, August 2008 This five-day workshop explored ideas and best practices about teaching, fostering, and evaluating student writing in courses of different levels. Service DePauw University Service Resource Allocation Subcommittee: May May 2015 Resource Allocation Subcommittee ranks departmental or program proposals of new tenuretrack lines and makes recommendations about which proposals to fund. This also includes individual strengths and weaknesses of each proposal. Committee on Administration: Fall 2012 and Academic Year Raghav, CV, December 2015 Page 6 of 8
7 This committee advises the president of university on matters of administration. This includes faculty and staff salaries and benefits, re-evaluation of faculty workload, and other concerns that the administration may bring to this committee. Management of Academic Affairs Committee: Fall 2010 This committee oversees daily operation of academic programs. It is responsible for evaluating and recommending for a faculty vote changes in individual courses, majors and minors structure, and time periods of courses. Faculty Development Committee: Academic Year This committee evaluates applications from individual faculty members for various competitive internal university funding and decides the recipients of these grants. Grievance Committee: February 2014-January 2015 This committee hears grievances from individual faculty members about personnel decisions against them, mediates between individual faculty members and other committees or administration, and also hears appeals from aggrieved faculty members against decisions by other committees or administration, if necessary. I also chaired one of the appeal panels. Management Fellows Interviews: Spring 2012, Spring 2013, and Spring 2014 Management Fellows program is an honors program at DePauw University. Students are considered for admission to this program after they have been admitted to DePauw University. I interviewed applicants to this program to evaluate their suitability for the program. Office of Admission: Meeting with prospective students and their parents for student recruitment efforts Help in Acquiring a High Performance Computer for DePauw University: Spring 2012 to Fall 2013 Led the Effort to Build a Consensus for Obtaining a High Performance Computer for Faculty Research, Wrote a Grant Proposal on Behalf of Everyone Involved, and then Helped in Procuring it. This HPC has been operational at DePauw University and available for research to faculty members of various departments since Fall DePauw Economics Department Service Admission Open House: February 2013, April 2013, and February 2014 I represented my department at these admission open houses for prospective students. Departmental S-liaison: Spring 2012-Fall 2014 I represented my department in the meetings of Speaking and Listening competency program or S-program for students. Some courses in each department of DePauw University has an S designation and these courses are especially chosen to improve students skills of presentation, debate, and careful listening.
