1 The Thurman King School of Black Church Leadership The School for Christian Leadership Three-year Certificate Continuing Education programs to train Christian leaders for the 21st century church

2 Certificate Continuing Education Programs at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School The Thurman King School of Black Church Leadership and the School for Christian Leadership programs are designed to prepare persons for various kinds of parish ministry, such as deacons and/or locally ordained priests in the Episcopal Church, Commissioned Lay Pastors, Lay Preachers or other designated titles. Those who take the full three year cycle will be awarded a certificate by CRCDS at Commencement in May of the third year of the program. Application for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits may be made to the CRCDS Registrar for a nominal fee. The program will meet one Saturday per month, beginning in September and concluding in April each year. Classes will be held on the CRCDS campus and will be taught by CRCDS Faculty and Faculty Associates. Breakfast and midafternoon hospitality on Saturday are included in the tuition. Christian leaders who do not wish to enroll for the full Certificate Continuing Education program may choose to enroll for individual Saturdays. These students are not required to write papers or take examinations, but are expected to do the reading assigned for the day in order to participate fully in the class. The individual Saturday option is dependent upon remaining space available and subject to permission of the instructor. Tuition: $1400 per year which includes lunch and mid-afternoon hospitality for 8 Saturdays. Single Saturday participation: $200 including lunch and mid-afternoon hospitality 2

8 THE THURMAN KING SCHOOL FOR BLACK CHURCH LEADERSHIP The Thurman King School for Black Church Leadership (TKS) continues the tradition of engagement of the Divinity School with the black church community that began with the Alternate Education Program and the Pearl Program. The TKS, taking advantage of the most recent African American religious scholarship and contemporary developments in black church life, is designed to provide current pastors and other clergy/leaders with the resources to enhance their ministry. THE SCHOOL FOR CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP Many small churches today cannot afford a full-time minster. The School for Christian Leadership (SCL) was established to respond to this need for support by offering a program for learning and enrichment for those who cannot pursue a traditional seminary education, but who seek to grow and develop their practical ministry skills. The program provides credentialing within different denominations for lay and ordained Christian leaders who are not pursuing a Master of Divinity degree but who need substantive theological education in order to better lead their churches.
