5 Introduction Letter Dear Adoptive Family, Adoption is a life-long process and as such, the needs of your child and family do not end when an adoption is finalized. For many that is when the REAL work begins! You may find yourselves navigating challenging waters as your family transitions into becoming an adoptive family. In those times, it is comforting to know that services are available and within reach to support your adoptive family. The Indiana Post Adoption Services Regional Resource Guide provides information on accessing medical, educational, mental health and other social service systems to support adoptive families in Eastern, Western and Southern Indiana. This guide is the result of a collaboration between the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) and The Villages of Indiana, Inc., the agency providing Post- Adoption Services for adoptive families residing in Regions 8,12,13, 15,16,17,and 18 in Indiana. The goal of the guide is to strengthen and empower adoptive families by providing information about and access to available resources in their communities. Thank you so much for your committed desire to provide loving homes for the children entrusted to your care. It is our hope that within its pages you will find helpful resources to support your adoption journey. The Indiana Department of Child Services The Villages of Indiana, Inc Edition Page 5
