2 Dental Implant Center Dr. B. Pulec Dear Colleagues, I am a member and the founder of the 1888implant-marketing program. In 1985, Dr. Zarb returned from a two-year study exchange in Sweden and introduced the "Root form" dental implants to the The University of Toronto and to the West. In those days, very few practitioners were allowed to treat patients with implant dentistry and I performed only the prosthetic phase until 1990 when I started performing the surgical phases as well. I joined many implant organizations such as the ICOI and still there seemed to be a plateau that my internal marketing efforts were able to accomplish. I was placing perhaps only about implants per year. The dental association just announced that dentists are now able to advertise (this was not allowed before this time). My office gross was around $500,000 per year. It was good for 1996; but not increasing and still very dependent on my two hands. I took a look at what large companies were doing and secured professional advisors outside the dental field, to advise me on how to increase the business. 1. A recognizable logo 2. 3 Through a lot of time, money and effort I created exactly that. A corporate type of office promotion. In a matter of two to three years the office gross shot up from $500,000 to $4,000,000 The gross is actually more than that. I now place and restore close to one thousand implants per year. I only do implant dentistry and cosmetic procedures such as veneers or crowns and bridges. I have many general practitioners that refer patients to my office for large treatment. I have 5 associates and three dental specialists that work in my office. We now have over 10,000 active patients. I had people call me from hundreds of miles away requesting implant and cosmetic treatment because the local promotion was spilling over to areas far from my practice. It is not practical for these patients to travel so far to get their treatment and I feel I could not provide the level of care that I could if they were close by. So I decided that if this kind of promotional efforts worked for me they would work for others.
