In her counseling practice, she advises employers on conducting lawful background checks and leaves of absence matters arising from the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As a frequent advisor to public and private educational institutions, Vicki conducts workplace investigations and wage and hour audits. She advises K-12 schools and higher educational institutions on claims involving harassment and Title IX discrimination, specifically developing appropriate campus responses to student complaints and training and educating faculty and staff regarding Title IX regulations and requirements. She is knowledgeable with regard to handling Clery Act claims, including the Violence Against Women Act regulations and has defended private and public educational institutions with regard to: Office for Civil Rights (OCR) investigations involving Title VI and Title IX discrimination claims Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and various other state and federal employment statutes Public Information Act and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for information Free speech issues on campus and in social media 1
