1 HEALTH CARE FOR VISITORS TO JERSEY Advice for visitors travelling to Jersey from the UK and other countries.

2 The Health and Social Services Department wishes you an enjoyable and healthy stay, whether you are visiting for business or pleasure. Unfortunately, illness or accidents can happen at any time and it may be helpful if you take a little time to read this leaflet. All visitors to Jersey are advised to take out full travel insurance to cover the cost of any medical treatment they may require and repatriation costs. Health care in Jersey is provided by the Health and Social Services Department and is outside the UK National Health Service. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid in Jersey. This means that you will have to pay for most health services. This includes all medical costs, hospital accommodation, radiology, pathology, pharmacy and physiotherapy. If you are admitted to hospital, a member of staff will help you complete the necessary forms.

3 GP visits All GP visits are provided on a private basis and visitors will be charged. If you need to see a GP, please telephone one of the surgeries listed overleaf. If you need a GP in the evening or weekends, phone any surgery listed overleaf to make an appointment at the GP Co-op Service. Opening hours GP Surgeries Monday to Friday to Saturday to GP Co-op Out of Hours Service Monday to Friday to Saturday to Sunday and Public Holidays to Emergency services Ambulances can be called by telephoning 999. They will bring you to the Accident and Emergency Department at the General Hospital in St Helier. You will not be charged for this service. Facilities for the disabled You can use your Blue Badge and Radar key in the Island. Contact Jersey Tourism on and ask for the Guide to Jersey for the Disabled. 4 Exemptions If you are visiting Jersey, you will not have to pay: if you need treatment for certain contagious diseases if you need immediate compulsory psychiatric treatment where treatment is specifically covered by an agreement between Jersey and your country of residence. Repatriation Should you require special arrangements to return to the UK or your country of residence, you or your insurer will be responsible for the cost. Prescription charges Medical prescriptions can be dispensed at any pharmacy. Please ask the Pharmacist to advise you of their charges. Dental treatment All dental surgeries are listed in the yellow pages of the local telephone directory. All dentists are private practitioners and a fee will be payable by all visitors.
