1 HEALTH SERVICE INFORMATION What do I do if I get sick? You call the host family and then the attendant and / or the host institution tutor, who will, if necessary, to make you see a doctor. Of course you can go directly to the doctor. It may happen that a private doctor makes you pay a visit (i.e. a dentist), in which case you must keep the receipt, like the medicines ones, and you have to get in touch with FORTES for the opening of the insurance practice. But remember: you must have with you the new health card magnetic. As a European citizen in Italy you are entitled to access to health care. Have I to warn the company? Yes, you have to warn it as soon as possible. Call your tutor and warns him you if you cannot go to work. You may be specifically asked for a medical certificate. What do I do If I need a Doctor? Below you can find some doctors in the National Health Service, they get close to your accommodation. If you need one of them, call and / or go to his office and explained politely that you are a foreign student who is doing an Erasmus / Leonardo here. Usually the patients of doctors are registered in official lists based on residence, so if you do not explain your situation will not understand why you're there. Get in line with other patients taking the number, if available, or by asking people in the waiting room. Some of them receive by appointment, so if you can call before to be sure to introduce yourself there. You can go to these doctors if: If you're sick but you're not dying! 7 REMEMBER TO BRING ALWAYS WITH YOU THE HEALTH CARD v Go to the doctor when you really need it, but be careful not to underestimate the illnesses / diseases or you ll risk to have worse effects on your health. v Try to stay calm and not lose your temper. v Remember that you can always turn to the Fortes tutor for help. v Remember that in the event of illness or injury you should always inform your tutor, both at work and at Fortes.
